Maybe it depends on the pine. We have a pretty blue spruce and we have no issues with it.

We also have some type of pine at our yard border with 2 of our neighbors.

Those make a great and pretty border.
I do like blue spruces. They are sturdy trees. More so than white pines. We call them Christmas trees since everyone grows those here to be used for Christmas. We have two in our yard.

I say keep the tree. But I like the look of oak trees.

While I pine tree/evergreen might seem like a good option because of no leaves or acorns. I wouldn't willing plant a pine tree, the guy (he calls himself Da Batman) that got rid of the bats in my sister's house told her that bats like to live in pine trees. So whether or not that is true, I don't know but I'm not going to chance it. I'd rather have squirrels.
Well, and you'd be trading one set of problems for another. No acorns, but plenty of pine needles and pine cones covering your porch/car...and isn't the sap bad for car paint? I seem to remember when we were in the black hills, we were told that the sap from the pine needles could do a number on your paint job. And squirrels like the seeds in pine cones, too. So it wouldn't solve the squirrel issue.

Last I heard Park Bench was sometime in December. Then one will remain parked in Town Square Station for photo ops only.
I hope it's only going to be a short closure...I'd like to be able to do MPB in 2019. I know I read that it was closing because of TRON construction, but there was speculation as to how long it would be closed, because they actually gave a time frame for Tomorrowland Speedway, but not for MPB. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

When discussing the option of replacing an Oak Tree with a Pine because of the mess an Oak makes, consider this, there is no messier tree on the planet then a Pine Tree. They have three shedding periods. Not necessarily in order, pine cones of varying sizes from rice crispy size to full size. (the rice crispy size is the worse especially if you have a pool and the always loved Pine pollen that covers everything in that lovely yellow/green blanket. Later in the summer when the pine pitch starts to drip on everything under it. and finally the massive shedding of pine needles in the fall. If you think a few Acorns are a mess... you ain't seen nothing yet. Those tiny pine cones and the needles get in every crack and crevice of your house and car and they don't just blow away or roll off. So other then the fact that they stay green all winter when not covered with snow, breaking branches and the like. Pine tree would get my support for elimination anytime.
Pitch! That's the word I couldn't remember. I knew "sap" wasn't right. Yes....that's exactly what I was thinking...a pine tree wouldn't be any better than an oak tree. Just a different mess.

Just to throw another tree in the mix, Maples aren't any better... every other year.. a bazillion helicopter thingies get dragged into the house, and the opposite years it drops little flowery things that get stuck to my shoes as well.

Well, we have managed to point out that nature is messy. Perhaps that song was the right way to go. We should "pave paradise and put up a parking lot". Any tree will attract squirrels that is what they use for homes. I'm a little skeptical about the bats and pine trees since bats are nocturnal animals and prefer dark, sheltered places to nest in, but, I suppose it is possible, I just have never heard that before.

Does anybody remember what the sun looks like?
We had it for about 30 minutes this morning. The girls and I took a walk at about 11:30, and it was mostly cloudy. By the time we got halfway around the development, it started to rain. I could have cut across some neighbors yard to get to ours, but I felt bad doing that. So, we walked very quickly. Luckily it was a light spritz. It got heavier after we made it home. Still raining now.
