Thanks. He is doing ok. They got down there around 7. It took almost two hours to find a hotel with power that had rooms. They ended up at a dinky motel that was ok, he said. At least he could shower. They had no breakfast. They were going to fix sandwiches when they got to the area they are working in this morning. The first job they were heading to, they had to turn around because the road was flooded. I haven't heard anything more since then. At least I have a hair appt. this morning at 11. That will keep my mind off it.
Hair appointments can solve almost everything:inlove:

Not heading into the office anytime soon. No weather/natural situation, but a truck carrying some huge heavy equipment (which I actually saw heading south as I was heading north on the main highway on my commute home) didn’t have enough clearance and drug down power lines and poles right in front of our office... :cyclops:
Got a call from our Office Manager earlier, and we’re hoping to make it in at some point this afternoon, but, it’s quite a mess (the story is being covered on our local news) so the whole day may be a bust.
DWifey thought about calling in so we could just hang out :inlove:, but, decided she should go in because of a project she’s currently working on.
Anyway, doin’ some laundry and keepin’ my eye in the local news...!!! :)
As I was reading, for a minute I thought you got hurt, but thank goodness it was just a building. Hopefully the damage gets fixed quickly.

I know. These are from his own tree. But they are too strong for me. I gave them to my Mom to use in baking.
Black walnuts. Our neighbors used to have a black walnut tree. We found some in our yard and didn’t know what they were. I told dh to open it and see what was inside. Of course he obediently listened to his wife and ended up with brown stained hands for a week. Oops. :angelic::angelic:

The remains of Florence. We're not getting hit hard at all. Just a few roads that don't do well even in normal rain

Parts of MA got hammered with rain today--some low level flooding, and some flash flooding in quite a few areas. There was a 75 mph microburst in one town (bringing down some huge trees & other damage). The weather man said that they think it was the eye of the hurricane that was passing overhead, to cause that. It's finally breaking apart and dying out at sea tonight.

Of course, the above was nothing compared to what the people in the Carolinas, etc., went through this past week. :jawdrop:

Our neighbor has a walnut tree, well it is planted in their yard but all the nuts and leaves fall into our yard. The squirrels love the nuts, it is fun to watch them run and grab them and then let the dog out and watch those squirrels really run!
