We have had sunshine today too. The rain was a lot less here than predicted. We had around 4.5 inches. We needed the rain since we are so dry. The winds were the roughest part of the storm. But, overall, we dodged a big bullet. So glad we did. DD had a lot of rain too. But, not bad there either.
DH has just driven by Kinston and said the flooding was bad there. They are taking back roads to get to Wilmington since I- 40 is closed down there.
Sending more pixie dust xoxo

Hand update. just an itty bitty bit of swelling and just a trace of bruising left:joyfull: It still hurts just a bit without ibu so with luck I'll be able to get some tracing I had hoped to do sooner done. Sewing should wait a few more days because I don't think the vibrations will be helpful at all

Sounds like your hand needs more rest before you put it to "work" sewing. ;) Glad it's feeling a bit better.

And just so you know, when I was about 10, I accidentally slammed a car door on my mother's hand! :jawdrop: I thought she had already gotten out of the car, but she had grabbed the side of the door, and I didn't notice--and I slammed the door to close. Poor thing, she was in a lot of pain. As a kid, I was just so totally shocked by what happened, and felt like I had to be the worst kid in the world. :bawling:  I ended up being more upset than my mother. Sometimes kids are just oblivious to their surroundings. Luckily, her hand was fine in a few days.

One time hubs closed my hand in the automatic car window, that really hurt too. It wasn't down very far and I had my hand out the window for some reason and he didn't see my hand and all of a sudden I got the squeeze. Ouch! Just left a bruise thank goodness! Accidents can happen all the time.

The house is relatively clean. Just the deep cleaning I've been doing all week is not done yet. But it's down to rooms that can wait. I need to get to the craft store so I can finish my costume for the halloween party though. That cannot wait. And I need to pack, LOL. Last trip to Disney, we were all packed up three weeks out. I feel so disorganized this trip, so I'm just planning on going with the flow. Whatever happens, happens. I'm sure we'll have fun and I'll get another one of those pink donuts, so life will be good!!

I think that once you and A get down there, you'll feel a lot of stress lift from your shoulders. Just go and have FUN every day--no work no school tests, no cleaning house, no worries. Immerse yourself in the Happiest Place on Earth, and "Let it go!!"

Aww that is so nice for you to say! I will pass that on to him. Thank you!

It's true, and just like @Goofyernmost was saying earlier, that there are still so many good people in this country who care about one another. I have no doubt that your hubs and his colleagues will go above and beyond to help those poor people down there, who really need it now after that horrible storm.

Gargle with salt water. It's gross, but it works wonders on a sore throat. I'm so sorry you are sick right now. Par for the course, but still no fun and definitely not fair with everything else you have on your plate right now. Prayers and pixie dust!

That's an old home remedy--I even remember my grandmother telling us to gargle with salt water for a sore throat! :cat:

Long, long ago on a planet far, far away my wife and I were taking the girls to see, if I recall correctly, E.T. As we were getting out of the car (two door) my youngest had stepped out of the car and then remember something she wanted to take with her so she quickly turned around and put her hand up on the door casing just as my wife was slamming it shut. So instead of E.T. we spent the afternoon in the E.R. She was very young and even though the door hit her whole hand very hard, nothing broke. Something the Doctors called bendable bones of the young. Her hand was swollen twice the size and was a bright purple. She didn't complain about much pain, but, she went to school a couple of days later and proceeded to show all the teachers by holding her hand up and saying... look what my mommy did to me. Had that been today, child services would have shown up at our door, but, since we, including her older sister witnessed it and the shocked look on my wife's face at the time told them that it was just an accident.

It all turned out ok and healed quickly, but, it was awful looking for a very long time. I asked her the other day if she ever had any problem with that hand and she said, no, nothing at all.
