Take a picture every day of the countdown to add to your trip memories. I miss those days because on our last trip the boys were more excited about going to UNI. Not that James didn't go into full Disney planning mode but the other 2 were "We're just here for the food"

Oh, man, maybe next year! This year I don't have the mental bandwidth for it, lol. I bombed my test yesterday and only got a C on it because I was so busy/stressed all week that I didn't have time to read the four chapters of the book that the test was about. This week I need to pack for Disney, finish my costume, actually read my text book, take the test, clean my house, shop for and pack some small gifts for her, etc. Plus there,s ballet, physical therapy, doctor appointments, late meetings at work, and I promised A a picnic this week. Cutesy things will have to wait until next year.

That looks pretty good! We are going to Teppan Edo next Summer and I'm a bit nervous as my only hibachi experience up to now included a very uncoordinated chef, OR a chef who was incredibly good at targeting me....soup in my lap, egg in my drink, zucchini between the eyes. The food was really good, and I like the IDEA of a hibachi grill....I'm just not sure if I want to go through that again. But I've never heard of anyone else having such an experience, and Disney wouldn't hire incompetent chefs, right? How did this restaurant work out? Anything bad happen? Was the food good? Would you go again?

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

We did Teppan Edo this past trip and it was amazing. Am sure you just had a bad chef last time and sure Disney will be better.

Sorry we haven't been in a while but never had a problem. Keep an eye on Rafiki's Planet Watch as it's going seasonal. Hope the petting zoo is open when you're there

One hour of "open" is plenty. (Years ago I worked in the hotel industry and did clerical work for sr. executives, and occasionally, a food & beverage manager.) Anyway, the F&B manager loved it when clients ordered an open bar, because the hotel made big money, easily boosting up his sales quota. The reason is that guests get careless when its free, and rarely finish their drinks--and keep ordering more.

And for every bottle that is uncorked or opened up in the bar, the client gets charged for the entire bottle--even if only a small amount is poured. A (no time limit) open bar is expensive, and the amount of waste is ridiculous. I think a one-hour open bar is reasonable (for those who chose to have that option), but anything beyond that, also opens up additional issues like inebriated guests getting behind the wheel of a car.
I know it's considered tacky, but we did a cash bar. I honestly don't see what the problem is with it. I shouldn't have to pay for people to get trashed, which as you stated, opens up additional issues. We paid for softdrinks, plus we had punch. So there were plenty of options, and if people didn't feel they could have fun without some booze, they could spring for it themselves. The cash bar definitely did not deter people from drinking, and everyone had a great time. I'm not a huge drinker myself, but I didn't want to tell people they couldn't have alcohol....they are adults, they can decide for themselves. But you can't bring it in, you had to buy it there, so we just did the cash bar for those who wanted to imbibe.

I woke up super sick. I've only got 6 days to kick this before our flight to Disney. Wish me luck, LOL.
What kind of sick? Stomach or respiratory? I would load up on Vitamin C, zinc, and eat garlic and spicy food to kill the germs. Also, yogurt has good bacteria in it. My doctor in the US told me that the good bacteria fights the bad bacteria for space...it's kind of like a natural antibiotic.

I'm so sorry. She was still a big part of your life, so it's bound to be a hard day for you, even after so much time apart.
How are you doing with Florence today? The pictures they showed on the news were pretty bad, but I don't know if you are in the flooded area. They said they were rescuing people by helicopter...people stranded on their house tops, off of cars floating down the flooded streets, etc. I hope it didn't get that bad where you are!!
Just a day light showers today, not even close to a hurricane here in Raleigh, very thankful.

Throat is sore, coughing, generally less energy, but so far that's it (knock on wood)

Skip cleaning the house, it's over-rated! :joyfull:

Due to extenuating circumstances, I cannot :( But skipping that does sound lovely!!

The boys saw it in school because it was what was voted on for free movie night. Not the worst film I ever saw but nowhere near the top 100 yup weird best describes it
I watched the Depp version out of pure curiosity. I never really followed Depp's career, but, really enjoyed him as Capt. Jack Sparrow. I really wanted to see if he had depth in his acting and looked for any sign of similarities in his character of Willy Wonka. I was completely blown away by that separation. If you were to watch him in Pirates and then in Willy Wonka and no one told you who the star was I don't think there was a single thing that would make you able to guess that it was the same person. He looked different, he spoke differently, his mannerisms were completely different. It was amazing.

As for Depp as a person... not so impressed, but, as an actor... wow! There is no denying that talent. As for the comparison of the two Wonka movies the first with Gene Wilder is definitely a more fun movie to watch.
