Amen. It is not to be taken lightly! This one is going to be bad. If you need water and staples, go now. My DD said shelves were already empty including generators last night. Crews are preparing now to be ready to help in the affected areas. Prayers for all in its path.
It does look like a cataclysmic storm. I hope your family, @Goofyernmost, and his family will remain safe and not impacted too badly.

Thank you... I'm confident we will all be fine and reinforces why I, after a brief desire, never decided to live on the actual Atlantic coast itself. Allows me to get to the shore in a couple of hours while keeping at least a small protective buffer between me and serious devastation.

Thank you! @Goofyernmost get your staples like water and gas if you are out. DD says it is hard to find gas and no bottled water on shelves. Stay safe!
It is ridiculous. I went to Walmart this morning and it looks like Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard. All the shelves are empty of canned goods, no battery's, no flashlights not even and first aid kits. People are lined up at gas stations reminiscent of the 70's and the gas embargo. That one I can't figure out. The storm, even if it hits direct isn't due until Saturday morning in the Raleigh area. They are going to use their cars before then so they will still be low on gas by the time they need it.

In Walmart there was a line that ran from the front door to the rear of the store. A very orderly straight line with people and cart lined up of the allotment of 2 ea, 18 oz. bottle set-up of 12 bottles. It appears that there was a near riot yesterday in the water aisle, so they are rationing it today and are actually placing the water in the carts for people. I might be wrong but, in my simple way of thinking the last thing that we will lose is water. All those lines are underground and even the pumps can be supplemented in the event of a power outage. If I am learning nothing else about hurricanes it is that, and you might want to write this down.... Hurricanes are good for business.

Could have gotten a room at All Star, Southwest airfares were running about $150 each way (really not bad for the last minute)...almost pulled the trigger. Only thing holding me back is that my AP expired and I have to have my dad get me my new one because it's the DVC rate, and the storm is just too unpredictable. I was thinking about it to get away from migraine central. :banghead:

Sympathies for your migraine, but with the storm coming, you are right not to go. Getting home could be an issue.

I was thinking getting down, but yeah, back too...if the storm were coming Friday night and my pass weren't expired, I'd be flying out Friday morning and staying until it's over.

My doctor put me on hydrocodone, so I'm super loopy now...and I had to take off of work.
