The most enjoyable drive I ever had was on my way to and from Key West. I got lucky and both directions were beautiful days. I stopped at every pull off (mostly were they had turned the original road into fishing and walking access) and just looked at one side and the other. Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Gulf on the other. Same water, but, for some reason it just looked different. Key West is also a unique place and second only to New Orleans for being off the chart different then any other cities in the U.S.

Although I've never been as far down as Key West, I've been in the upper Keys. What a gorgeous area--so different from any place I'd been before. Kinda hard to articulate the scene--but I completely get your impressions of the scenery and general vibe down there. Magical place.

Really? No exceptions? That is unbelievable. There can easily be an exception. It is just a t shirt. I am sure the company screen printing them(assuming this is what is being done), can easily add one more. Ridiculous.

Well, I suppose they have to draw the line somewhere for the school to order them, but I'm betting the company making them will take whatever orders they can get, and the school might get a special deal for ordering in bulk, whereas an individual parent might have to pay more if they don't go through the school? So then that's probably why they have a deadline? I would hope that it's still available to buy one yourself if you miss the deadline to get it through school. But they really should have a more reliable method of reaching the parents. Emails aren't always the best way.

Can you get a picture of the design and color and order it from a vendor of your choice? I'm sure the vendor won't want to pass up an opportunity to make a sale, especially if they are already making that tshirt right now. It requires no extra effort for them, but gives them a bit more profit. Do you know the name of the vendor?

I wish all info/requirements came in ONE form of communication. Instead, we have some papers that come home, some things on the website, some in the weekly emailed newsletter, and then others from these emails from committee moms. Just condense it to ONE!

So as I read through multiple comments about the shirt debacle, the one thought that came to my mind was this: you couldn't possibly be the ONLY parent in that entire school, who did not order a shirt on time?! You can't tell me that every parent in that school is perfect.

Yet, that thought aside, as long as you could find out the design, any number of manufacturers could duplicate the shirt. And as @Tony the Tigger shared, you might have to pay a setup fee, but at least you'd get the shirt.

(Having read further through the posts, I see that you finally were able to order the shirt, and I'm very glad for you (and for T, who will have a shirt just like the other kids).

I agree that a standardized method of communication would be helpful to both the school, and the parents.

Lastly a minor rant about the "ladies who lunch". Dealt with those useless types before (wives of influential large clients, or donors to organizations). When it comes down to day to day struggles for most people, the LWL are so self-centered, that they're clueless about life beyond their inner circle.

You must and soon, they are awesome. I would start with the Last Crusade, then Raiders of the Lost Arc. Then you could probably stop. Temple of Doom is ok but skip the latest, but not greatest Crystal Skull.

I like all of ‘em right up through Last Crusade, but, will watch Crystal Skull in a pinch.
Although, Willie (Kate Capshaw) screaming through so much of Temple of Doom is pretty annoying... :in pain: They shoulda’ named her character “Shrillie”...!!!!! :hilarious: ;) :)

I don't think Labor Day had anything to do with it -- happens a lot, holiday or not, unfortunately.

A car hurtling down a road, highway, etc., with an incompetent driver behind the wheel, is one of the most dangerous and scary things in modern times...
As my pop taught myself and my 3 younger sibs many years ago (and yes, I’ve posted this a few times before ;))...”Drive like everyone else on the road around you is a complete and total *expletive up for interpretation :D*, and you’ll greatly reduce your chances of dying in a traffic accident.” :)

In the last email I sent to the comittee, after I was able to order the shirts, I said that I was sending it in the event that any other parents were in the same situation as I was. Then I said “Thanks for all of your help!” . I hope she/they heard the sarcasm in that sentence.

On the ladies who lunch topic.. I hate hate hate to ever criticize other women. I try not to, really I do. This incident brought out the claws though. Women like that make me so angry!!

I was totally prepared to go to our school pastor if I didn’t get the info by end of the day today...and I don’t care who would have been upset with my “tattling”.

I get it these women and their husbands do a lot of good for the school, but it shouldn’t give them the priveledge of ignoring simple requests from a parent who just wants info.

That would be eating anything with a face @Tony the Tigger.;)
Dairy is a no no also. It would be great if "So Delicious"(They make coconut milk ice cream), made Mickey Bars also.

I was vegan for a number of years. Never was a fan of dairy other than ice cream and mozzarella.

Now I am vegan about 80% of the time. I’ll eat fish, and recently added back in some chicken/turkey.

Pork/beef will only happen a few times a year when it’s “worth it.

At Disney, I’ll eat anything.

ETA: Breyers is now making a non-dairy ice cream that is better than So Delicious IMO but: it’s hard to find, and it still has sugar. (I avoid processed sugars also.)
