So, I invest a whole 25 minutes cooking up 5+ lbs of ground beef (no idea why I thought 5 kg yesterday) and everyone splits.

Son #1 - the birthday boy, borrowed my car and went out with friends. Says he'll eat leftovers tomorrow.
Son #2 - just got back from an in-car driving lesson and has no appetite until he smokes some you-know-what. (Lord, grant me the patience to not kill him, and a really good defence attorney if I do.)
And Adopted Son - went out, will be back at 9:30 and eat then.

So, there is no lovely presentation, no chopped up tomatoes and shredded lettuce in fancy bowls ... no effort whatsoever.

Tomatoes, hot peppers and cheese, on a sesame seed roll, toasted. Pass!

Sorry. Boogers.

Yikes even with the conversion that meat is expensive for Costco.

Stupid man went out in the Goose Island on the ice took off his clothes jumped in and couldn't get out because wet ice was slippery. Poor Police officer slid down to grab his arms to save him risking his own life for the Dumb! :cautious:

One time, while I was staying at Wilderness Lodge, I struck up a conversation with another guests. This guy told me that he was standing out on the wooden walkways, that eventually led to the dock where the boats came in (to take guests to MK). Anyway, he was up in the very early hours of the a.m. and it was still dark out. He was a smoker and went out there to have a puff. All of a sudden he heard something behind him and he saw a gator slither off the wooden walkway into the water! He completely freaked, threw the cigarette butt in the water as he ran for his life toward the main swimming pool area! (I told him he might want to consider quitting smoking after that!) ;)
Yea that's one way smoking can kill ya! When we stayed at Riverside they told us that alligators are sometimes spotted on the edge of the Sassagoula river. I heard people have seen them in the pools now was I getting my leg pulled with that one?

Sympathy like. That Walt is a big ol' lug. You'd think that he'd be uncomfortable laying on top of your eyeglasses. Dogs can be so oblivious at times. I've seen Jack sleep on top of his toys; some of them have tennis balls and you can't tell me that's not uncomfortable laying on top of one of those?! Doesn't even faze him . . .

They were on a pillow. What is better to chew a rawhide on a pillow and my kneecap combined with a pair of glasses. He didn't break them. They were able to straighten them back out.

Well, have never given it much thought. Very rare for gators to attack, unless you go swimming with them. I've seen plenty when camping. We have a couple of lakes in my community, but nobody ever seems to pay much attention to gators (if there is one around). Just like any other animal, they tend to avoid human contact, mostly.
p.s. There is NO good thing about snow...ever. Have I said I hate snow?
They sure are scary though. I'm sure how I would react meeting one.

Hmpf. I've stayed at both FQ and POR both since they opened for long vacations like you. I've never seen a gator there let alone in the pools though a couple of the quiet pools are are tucked away in those Bayous.

Next time I talk to the ManChild I'll ask. Years ago he use to moonlight from his CP and drive a rescue boat when he needed extra money.

Food is generally expensive up here.
$3.97 for what is essentially a gallon of milk.
$3.79 for a loaf of the good white bread.
Apples work out to a buck a piece!
Red, yellow, orange peppers are $3.99/lb. (Green - $2.99/lb.)
$2.99 for a 35 pack of 500 ml (16 oz) water bottles.
Quaker flavoured oatmeal (8 packets/box) I buy on sale 2/$5.00.

Other stuff I buy at Costco.

I posted most of my receipt from Costco yesterday. Have a look.

And don't even get me started on the price of gas!
