That sounds like fun. Any pictures of the fort, you might have taken? :)

Your son is very cute. Haven’t been to Fort Ticonderoga in probably 10 or more years. A very educational place. Nice pictures.

I live about 70ish miles from Ft. Niagara; I was just there, we’ll the state park that contains it for a soccer tournament.

Haven’t been inside it for years.
The first 15 years of my life I lived on the west shore of Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Then my family relocated to the east side of Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vt. I lived there until I was 63 years old before moving to North Carolina. I was stationed in Niagara Falls in the later part of 1968 to around the Fall of 1969. Then they sent me to sunny southeast Asia for a year and ended up back in Vermont stationed at a radar site about 28 miles from my home. Didn't leave that area again until the spring of 2011 when I decided that "the time had come and so, my love, I must go. And though I lose a friend, in the end you will know. One day you'll look to see I've gone, but, tomorrow may rain, so I'll follow the sun"! Many thanks to Lennon and McCartney for my exit overture.

I spent one summer in Burlington. I took a summer class at UVM. This was in 1995. I really liked the town. Dh who was just a BF at the time visited me there and we really liked going to Al's Fries.:hungry: We took a daytrip to Montreal once as well and saw the Expos when they were still there. It was a fun summer and I even managed to pass the class.:joyfull:

Good old Al's Fries. When I was in High School there was a miniature golf course in back (were they eventually put the picnic area). I worked there for the summer. At the time, Mrs. Al had divorced her husband and she got custody of the stores. She was awful. Ownership has changed, don't remember when, but, it was for the better once that happened. Although it was popular before that as well, at least for those that didn't see how they prepared the food. But, that was long before 1995. It's quite good since then. All the people I have met that moved from Vermont to NC always make it a point to stop at Al's for fries and a creemee. Why the creemee concept has never taken hold down here when it is a year round treat is beyond me. This week the State Fair is happening in Essex Jct. They used to have a number of mobile Al's FF locations in the fair grounds, probably still do.
For those of you that don't know about the "Creemee" it is just soft Ice Cream. It is somewhat available in this area, mostly at McDonald's, but, it is never the evening event like it is up north where the popular phrase is "Hey, let's go out for a Creemee. Maple is one of the favorite flavors. I just remembered that Dairy Queen would be a source for Creemee's but, only chocolate and vanilla. Up north there are a variety of flavors. Around here they only like the expensive stuff like Cold Stone and Goodberry's (which is frozen custard, good but expensive).
