We are safe where we are from natural disasters and it is a safe place for kids to be raised. Cost of living is low as well. My house an hour closer to DC would be a million dollars. Cost of living in FL has gone up the last couple of years. We went to look at houses outside Disney 2 years ago and a KB Home in Windermere was selling for over 600k. They have had a housing boom after the crash.
Sad to say but what goes up must come down. Patience

I love it! Looks like an interior decorator designed it. I love how everything is so neat and organized. That seemed to last with me until they became mobile, then it all went south real quick. :rolleyes:Still trying to keep up with the messes, but at least they help now.;)

Hahaaa...!!! :hilarious:
Yep, not expecting it to look that organized for very long...! ;)
Thanks! No interior decorator, mostly oldest DD, with a little bit of SonIL and youngest DD thrown in...!!! :)

Yes, our area has a lot of Germans and Scandinavians, so that leads to a large amount of Lutherans. We are ELCA, and we have looked into Florida and there are some ELCA churches. Family isn't necessarily a leading factor because my sister plans to move to Florida in the next couple of years, my dad already lives there and we only see his family at Christmas really. He (and I for the most part) just likes the area we live in. It is nice to have seasons, our area is fairly safe, and the cost of living is lower. And I'm fairly frugal so I don't mind living somewhere cheaper! And he really enjoys the church he is in and there is still a lot he wants to do with this congregation and that they want to do with him. I think I mostly want to move to be closer to Disney, but there is no guarantee of a good paying job there. I think as we get closer to retirement, it will be something that becomes more of a reality.:)

Sometimes, you need to look no farther than your own backyard, to find everything you need. :inlove:

Got back from Ft Ticonderoga this weekend with my son and his Boy Scout Troop (I’m an (Assistant Scoutmaster).

As a history and geography nerd like me it was cool.

The boy and I had a good time.
I used to live fairly close to Ft. Ticonderoga. Went a few times, but, not for a lot of years now. I was stationed in Niagara Falls for a short time and went to Old Fort Niagara quite often. In fact, I worked with a man that had written a book about Old Fort Niagara. Unfortunately now, some 50 years later I can neither remember his name nor the title of his book.

I live about 70ish miles from Ft. Niagara; I was just there, we’ll the state park that contains it for a soccer tournament.

Haven’t been inside it for years.
