On a serious note here tonight. I'm begging you and everyone you know to NOT be talking on your cell phone while driving a vehicle. I almost got killed tonight by a huge SUV that came right AT ME while I was walking IN THE CROSSWALK.

I had just gotten off the bus, and was crossing the street, when an SUV cut the corner and sped right at me, while the driver (a woman in her 20s) was on her PHONE and NOT LOOKING. I ran and missed the front of the vehicle by less than an inch (I still don't know how I outran it). I was screaming at her as she went by, and a man on the sidewalk was also yelling, as he saw what happened. Worst part was that I don't think she was even aware of what she nearly did--her windows were up and she was on the phone. I was shaking walking home.
Noone noticed her? no police? no time to take photo of the plates?

OMG I can't like that! I'm so glad you are ok! Did you get a license plate number? Did you get the witness' name and phone number? That's one of my pet peeves....people using their phones while driving. Or riding a bike. My son will say it really loudly if he sees it..."Mommy, that's not allowed! That woman isn't supposed to be on the phone! It's dangerous!" and while it's sometimes kind of embarrassing because I'm sure they can hear him, he's also got a point and they obviously need the reminder, so I don't feel too bad. But I'm glad you were able to move fast!!!

The guy that served it to me was young, it was probably the first one he had poured. When I asked what they were and he said he didn’t know, I heard another worker kind of reprimand him and tell him he needed to tell people which beer was which. It was ok, had I chosen a more interesting beer flight it would have been easier to tell them apart.

I think I have bought shredded schullsburg cheese at my grocery store. It melted pretty good. That’s cool that you know who owns it. Touring a cheese factory can be a little stinky, sometimes it can smell sour and sweaty. Which is not appealing.

Oh and the tacos were great! It was our favorite new food at the fair.
Yeah, I couldn't have been much more than 3 or 4 when we toured the factory...the smell is pretty much the only thing I remember. I toured one here in the Netherlands with some friends, and it was just as stinky.
Those tacos just looked really unique! I've never seen tacos with the fried chow mein strips like that...I bet that would add a nice crunch! Do the fried cheese curds get melty in the middle?

Oh my! I am so glad you are safe and you had the presence of mind and ability to dodge such a careless driver. Again I’m so glad you are safely home friend! Have some snuggles with jack!

While I was in the kitchen last night, Jack trotted over to me, but not to snuggle. He only wanted to sniff the cheese up on the kitchen table! Useless!

Noone noticed her? no police? no time to take photo of the plates?

It all happened in an instant, and I think everyone was stunned. The fact that I made it safely across was enough for me at the time. The reality is that there are too many "near misses" these days, and as long as someone doesn't get hit, it rarely gets reported. (If her car had struck me, then the outcome from witnesses would be different.) And no, there weren't any cops around in that location (they can't be everywhere). Thank you for your concern.

I'm glad they hear your son.
