Ok here are some pictures from the Minnesota State Fair. Once we finally got in, traffic and parking were horrendous, I really needed a beer and some food.

I started with a beer sampler, I took a picture listing the beers but when I asked the guy which ones were which he had no idea. Ugh, I used my picture of the descriptions to try to figure it out and I think I for sure picked out 2.

Brad found a friend. Haha!

Then we stopped for bacon wrapped tots.

And they came with a cheese sauce that was really good. I might have sipped it when the tots were gone, no need to waste it!

We walked around for a bit and got cheese curds. There are a few stands but this one is the best, the curds come from Wisconsin. From a town not too far away from me.

Then we got an order of General Tsao (probably spelling it wrong) tacos. This was one of our favorites.

Soon it was time for another beer, at least it was almost 10:00-10:30 am by then! This one is called the Hells ya you Betchya from Summitt brewing, which is a well known brewery in the area. This was a very lovely beer a little fruity but too sweet just a hint of it.

Then we checked out some of the displays in the agricultural building.

Then we went to the dairy building which also included meat stuff. I found a turkey.

They fair carves all the ā€œQueenā€ contestants heads out of butter. This poor girl had to sit in the refrigerator for a couple hours while her head was carved in butter.

I found a moose friend.

And time for another beer. A chocolate chip cookie beer. It was okay.

And a look at one of the sky ways.

Then we got scone bites that were stuffed with Nutella and marshmallows and Earth wings (cauliflower in a bbq type sauce).

Then we made a stop at the Minnesota Wild booth!

Last fair post.

We got Big Fat Bacon, bacon on a stick.

A look at the fair grounds. It was really busy today, especially for opening day. Probably because the weather was perfect today and tomorrow it is supposed to pour all day.

No visit to the fair is complete without two things, cheese curds (already had them) and Sweet Marthaā€™s Cookies!

We got the big bucket and we ate a total of four of them there then bagged them up to bring home.

We also shared a pronto pup too at some point no picture though.

And our last dish before heading out was bacon wrapped pork belly! Which was good but needed a dipping sauce of some sort.

So we had a good and food filled day. But at least we shared all the food, well not the beer that was all mine. And we ended up walking 6 miles! Hope you liked a little peek at the Minnesota Fair!

Wow, those tacos look yummy. But the beer flight....how can someone work at a beer stand and not know what the beers are? How does one get what they order? That doesn't seem like he's very competent.
Just out of curiosity, have you ever had Shullsberg cheese? My cousin owns the Shullsberg creamery. Well, my cousin's husband. I don't like cheese unless it's melted, so I've never had it, but my mom and my brother used to LOVE the cheese curds when we visited. I vaguely remember touring the factory when I was really little, and the only thing I remember is that I thought it smelled horrid.:joyfull:

What are these web cacoon like things? They are in one of my trees. If it/they are no harm to the tree I will leave it alone. If they are gypsy moths getting ready to hatch then I will attempt to foil their plan. I hope the photo is big enough. I did maximum zoom. View attachment 305637
One word.... Caterpillars! Those were everywhere when I was a kid, but, I don't remember the exact sequence, whether caterpillars are hatched from them or moths or butter flies come from Caterpillar cocoons, or both.

Could be that was an old wive's tail, but I remember going out with my Grandfather and burning them. I also remember trees that were literally covered by caterpillars at the time. As a kid I was unsure of the sequence of stuff, but, I can also remember them falling on your head out of the trees. I've really had no close exposure for the last 60 years, but, I do remember those huge cocoons.

Speaking of nature... Weird thing, a least to me. Picture this... you are sitting there minding your own business when you happen to see a spider that would make Superman jump back. Big, huge, mean looking just standing there watching you. By some strange miracle a random book šŸ“˜šŸ•·ļø happens to fall smack on the center of that particular evil looking spider. Oops! Another unfortunate literary accident, right? Anyway, not wanting to step over this sad sight constantly I opted to clean up the remains. Here comes something I wasn't expecting. When I respectfully retrieved the carcass for a proper burial, all around the body was a small army of tiny, tiny, tiny baby spiders. At first I thought they were just specs of dirt, (I've never been accused of being the worlds greatest housekeeper). No, they started moving around. Honestly they were so small I could barely make out the bodies and the gazillions of tiny legs. To make matters worse this one "accident" lead to a spider genocide. It seemed like the humane thing to do. Usually spiders don't bother me because they do manage to keep a lot of the other bug like critters down to a minimum, but, this was almost a 911 call.

Flames would set the tree on fire. I got a ladder....climbed up and then cut it down. I rather loose a couple branches than lose the tree.
If I recall, all he did was burn the vessel enough to end it's purpose which burnt to quickly to catch the tree on fire. I think he did it because when they came out they ate all the foliage off the trees.
