Agree, but more often than not.. Companies have the tendency of downplaying and the advocate groups to exaggerate.

Example of company PR " The Lead in minuscule quantities, like in our products, do not pose a danger to humans"
They claim that ONLY the traces they have int he product isnt dangerous.. But humans could get other traces elsewhere and these "traces" become more than just remnants or "microscopic" units. As lead tends to accumulate on fatty tissues. Lead poisoning can take years to develop.

Then we have "Advocacy" groups, like the morons anti baxers who rely in lies to deny vaccines. (And not on real things, like vaccine allergies). claiming that Vaccines are the end of the world or cause problems that have not been proven in any way (like the "mercury" or amalgams used in vaccines being pure and dangerous and that they develop illnesses. When in reality they are unharmful composites. (aka an idiot trying to claim they are experts in chemistry and playing the "ohhh fire is bad!")

I am a Child Advocate. I have respect for some. Some I do not. I tend to want to see who their sponsors are and where they receive their funding from. Me I am personally fond of Easter Seals in the US for what I do. They helped me a great deal when my DD was non verbal fighting for intervention at age 3. I will forever be indebted to their caring. How I became involved in being a child advocate.

And yeah, vaccines are a genuine cause for concern with humans not wanting them. On the flip side pets are in my opinion and research beyond over vaccinated and my and others opinion that it is big business over the need to be vaccinated every year for kennel cough where humans are only vaccinated twice in a longer lifetime.

So I tend to wait to see where I fall when ever shocking and dramatic data is thrown out there. I tend to want to see all the data, who funds the research etc.

She wants to prepare for a career in counseling. She would be a "Psychology Major". This school has an intense program where you can graduate with your Masters in 5 years. In your junior year of undergraduate studies (if you qualify/if you are accepted)you then continue finishing the requirements for your B.S. degree yet you simultaneously start taking courses for your masters degree. That way after putting in 4 years, you only have one more to go.
Clear as mud or I explained it adequately?o_O....attention@Gabe1

Oh trust me, clear as mud declines with age! That is awesome she has a profession picked out, I love goal orientated people as you might have gathered. She seems very ambitious and goal driven which are traits I so admire in youth. Knowing at this tender age that she wants a masters is beyond awesome. Wish her nothing but the best. :inlove:

Laterrrrrrrrrrr...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::)

Oh no! Don't be a goner -- that could be fatal. (I know mortality is the topic of the week, but I don't think your time is up just yet! :hilarious: )

From Dictionary.com:
  1. a person or thing that is dead, lost, or past recovery.

I kinda need to see how this 'special' reports plays out. There seems to be some conflicting information.

There are credible Advocacy Groups and others not so much. Remembering Advocacy Groups are dependent on funding too. Like the scare with baby food a while back, the group didn't release all the data, just it had lead and arsenic. We all know there are natural levels of of both in food and water everywhere caused by nature and thats ultimately how that one played out.

I'm going to have to wait and see how this all shakes out before I remove Cheerios from my life. This one could go either way.

I have no problem removing Cheerios. Now, if it was Rice Krispies, that would be an issue -- I draw the line at Rice Krispie Treats! :p

I just saw this (network) item on the news this morning about measles now in 21 states. Oh wonderful . . .it's airborne, people . . .

Copied a link below from Google -- it's from a local station in your state, by the way--

I started to read it. But full disclosure when I got to the jab about the Non for Profit group being LEFT LEANING I scrolled up to the top to see what News Organization would insert 'that' into a non political report.....at that point I just discredited the article. Others will write more objective articles I'm sure.

journalism should be objective but that's why I go overseas for American news. Still biased but 3rd party biased.

That song has some "alburs" that could be double worded.

In some cases it means love and kissing. But in the other.. well, some songs might have the sexual duality.

But the text seems to have some wrong writing or translations..

Quiero ver bailar tu pelo --> I want to dance your hair?
Quiero ser tu ritmo -> I want to be your rythm
Que le enseñes a mi boca --> You to teach my mouth..
Tus lugares favoritos..... ---> Your favorite places...

I feel that way about most Spanish songs.. especially if Daddy Yankee or any reggaeton artist involved.lol
Same with Bachata.. I love Aventura/Romeo.. but the lyrics in English either usually don’t make sense, or are pretty sexual/weird.
There’s nothing comparable that I like in English. The music/tempo is always what makes the songs good.

Even a staple like Suavemente... Translate the lyrics and the song becomes really stupid. It would never be a hit if sung in English.

Absolutely--everyone needs a Plan B in life! :) (That made me think about the at-home family careers. Those people have so many transferable skills. I'll bet that they would be attractive to hiring managers in the culinary field, garment industry, child care fields, financial planning, and some in leadership/coaching.) Even if it took a while for them to get up to speed, I have every confidence they would succeed.

Wish I had half of those skills to fall back on, if my job ceased to exist. ;)

This is true, like I said my mom didn’t go back to work.. but then around 55 years old, a friend of her’s asked if she would come work for her. My mom had been involved in our school and church for about 3 decades, event planning, Girl Scout leader, coach, fund raising, etc.
So anyway, her friend is a real estate broker, and asked my mom to be her assistant, and said she could work part time and from home if wanted to. She also hired one of my aunts who had been a sahm with similar “qualifications”. My mom’s job duties were things like - mailings, coming up with idea or calendars/magnets/brochures (marketing material), talking to clients, talking to the agents, scheduling, and attending showings sometimes...also using her own network of people to share things on social media.
She loved it!! It didn’t pay much, but she was with a friend and her sister, they went to lunch almost every day, had margarita nights, did a monthly movie, etc.

When I moved here, and my sister had a young baby, we asked my mom to be our full time care giver, and that we would pay her more than she was being paid by her friend.
She turned us down!!! 😂

She decided to stop working last year when my dad retired...but she had a lot of fun those past 10 years.. No, she wouldn’t have been able to support herself on what she made, she was technically part time and didn’t have benefits either, but I’m fully confident that if her goal had been to take those skills from years of school involvement, combined with running a household and managing our crazy schedules and still remembering to feed us (;)) , along with that work for her friend.. then she would have been able to make a career out of it if necessary or wanted. :)

Is it weird that I listen to Despacito entirely in Spanish so I don't have to listen to Bieber?:hilarious:

No not at all!! I don’t like the Bieber version either!

There’s not many Spanish language songs that I like when redone in English. I don’t think we listen to any Enrique songs in English.. including kiddo’s long standing favorite (with Nicky Jam) “El Perdon”, whenever it comes on in English T says “It’s not as fun in English, can you play the real one?”
