We have cake at home.
MeTV is the channel we watched those old TV shows on (I would record them on a laptop and cut out the commercials later). I remember I recorded every single Perry Mason, Batman, and Superman episode they played. Unfortunately, The Twilight Zone came on too late at night😕.
We have that channel too. I watched MASH on it.

Oh my! The best of luck!! Are you trying to find a job with better hours and less stress?

I don’t know if you remember a colleague’s FB post about his decision to leave, but it really affected me. I’ve been looking since shortly after that. Decided that I can’t take a pay cut, but maybe I could have a better path to less hours.

Here’s the thing- the interview is for a job that’s exactly the same as what I’m doing now. The hours will technically be worse, as it will add a minimum of 40 minutes (round trip) commute to what I already have now.
BUT, the position I want with my company will never be open to me. I think I have a better chance to move into that with the other company. In the meantime, I may make more than what I make now. That’s what they’re telling me anyway.
I’ll have been with my company for 4 years this November. I moved up quickly, but now I feel like there’s no where else to go.. at least where I want to go. Ideally I’d like to work Monday-Friday 8-5.. and I think there’s more opportunity for it there..but not right away. I feel like I’m old to start over though, I already did that 4 years ago. I’ll lose vacation time, a bit of seniority, etc. Plus, I love my boss, he’s been really great. Last year, he fought to get me back at this location after I was unhappy with a mandatory “promotion” to a different location, which ended up being less of a promotion and more of a pay cut. I haven’t really been happy since that happened, and I think the politics (and family) of who will end up in a specific department, is already set in stone.

Sometimes I regret coming into this business at all, but it was a lot easier to work on Saturdays when T was 4.

Being an employee in a family run company can be difficult I guess because you can only get so far. I guess just go to the interview open minded and do your best. You can probably get a lot of your questions answered at the interview. Having more commute time is not good either. My dh complains about his 45 minute commute each way quite often. He doesn't deal with traffic but local roads. You may have traffic tie ups being in a more urban area.

In 10 minutes my daughter and I are heading out on a 2 hr 40 minute road trip to Lancaster County PA. First stop Katie's Amish Kitchen Restaurant. 2nd stop is the real reason we are going. My daughter will have her first of many future college tours. The next two will be in early November. Today we will be touring Lancaster Bible College. Tour starts at 1PM. Done at 3PM.
It's raining here so we are gonna leave here momentarily so I can take my time on the road. I'll report back later.

That’s what I’m afraid of. There’s a huge difference between picking T up at 8:20 pm, and almost 9pm. Also a huge difference on weekends when we have an event to go to.

I miss too much now, and it’s only going to get worse as he gets older. I don’t have the courage to leave my current career, but if there’s a good possibility that I could someday see shorter hours, then I may have to try it.

I talked to him about it last night, he was upset and doesn’t want me to switch. He comes to work with me sometimes and my boss will bring his same age son as well.. the 2 go in a back office and play video games or monopoly.lol

Time is flying and before I know it I’ll have high school to pay for, it’s obnoxious now, and rising every year. If I could have my income, and have a weekend free that would be ideal.. but only one is realistic when it comes to choosing between the 2 at this time.

Are you not able to work from home on some days? You also should be careful when someone offers you the somedays. That may possibly not come. I would go into it assuming the somedays won't happen and then see how you feel. But, see how the interview goes and maybe they will offer you something that you want. Otherwise keep looking.
