Note to self- don’t give in to peer pressure.

All I’ve ever heard is people raving about this movie. All of T’s friends talked about it, ‘everyone’ went to see it on opening weekend.. I stuck to my guns.. but, still see so many people say how wonderful it is. Parent friends said “oh it’s fine!” Succumbed to the pressure.

Definitely not fine, but I’ve let it continue to play, which is all on me. Once it’s over I’ll be back to my “No Marvel” rule.
I stopped worrying about what James watches about the time he maturely explained Klingon reproduction

Yeah, they're all pretty graphic.

The next one to show him would be the newest Spiderman. Not nearly as violent, and the main characters are primarily high schoolers. Which helps. Lots of positive messages in that one too.

Have you ever used Common Sense Media? That site is pretty helpful as far as showing what movies contain and what the recommended age is.
Yes! Common Sense Media has been my first check for years..and the main reason we’ve stayed away from Marvel.

Let the hype, and kiddo’s constant requests, allow me to go against my better judgement this time. Glad I didn’t buy the movie.. just rented from Red Box.

You might want to stick to Big Hero 6 as your Marvel film for awhile. Plus it is fantastic movie!

I plan on it!

@21stamps For Marvel movies, I would start with

Spiderman Homecoming
Ant Man movies
Captain America: The First Avenger

But I would wait until age 10 for all except maybe Spiderman. Maybe go with the first two Sam Raimi Spiderman's first.

Thanks for the tip! I guess I sound strange because he has seen all of the Star Wars movies.. but I think lightsabers and blasters are a little different. May be a little hypocritical.. but oh well.

I haven’t seen any Marvel movies either, for the same reason as you. Too much violence (and, um, other things) for my taste. I like to check IMDb’s Parents Guide before watching any recent (1980’s-present) movie. I recorded one of the Captain America movies once, but then deleted it after seeing what kind of stuff was in it.

I can't comment much about it, because I fell asleep during most of it! :p Guess it didn't hold my interest.

Well, no sales tax weekend turned out to be a bust for me. Only my dog benefitted from it, when I bought a large bag of dog food for him, yesterday. This morning, I was going to go to BB& Beyond to look at some new towels, etc. (Often, the color you see online is not exactly the color you see in person.) Well it rained like a monsoon this morning, with streets flooding (temporarily). Turned around and went home. :banghead:

Tried again around 2 this afternoon (rain had stopped) and got to the store--it was mobbed!! :jawdrop: I looked around a bit, and couldn't make up my mind on the towels. Decided I didn't want to wait in the long register lines anyway, so I drove home.

The good news: there's still money in my purse. The bad news: I didn't buy anything . . . :(

Star Wars has the violence, but no language and minimal innuendo.

Each kid is different. It's up to you as a parent. Mine never really worried too much about us. I watched Roger Rabbit way early, along with Back to the Future. My brother usually watched whatever I was watching. He watched stuff early too. Our parents knew we could be mature about it.

As a kid, I really didn't like violence, so we just plain didn't watch anything intense. I was also mature about other content. Other kids might not be.

Just scrolled thru my memories..
8/11/11 was apparently a much better day than 8/11/10 😂. Thanks for another good memory, FB. ;)

This day in 2010. Ah the sweet memories of puke, constantly..

And... 8/11/09 😂😂😂😂
I’ll never forget that stupid Lab!!! Luckily he had a chip and was reunited with his owner on the following day. Funny reading this when exactly a year later I would have human drool all over me. 😂

All I did today was work, play monopoly, and watch Cinderella.
T looked so angelic sleeping at the beach. He didin’t look at all like a puke and drool monster. Dare I ask how you dislocated your hip.

I think the best part, especially for me regarding my kid, is ordering whatever you want and not even glancing at prices.

We thought we would eat at a lot of specialty restaurants, but never found the time.. only Margaritaville for an afternoon snack.. this table belonged to just me and T.. we ate, a lot. 😂

T’s go-to appetizer every night, even when it wasn’t on the menu- salmon tartare. One night he couldn’t decide between that or sushi, so the waiter brought him both appetizers. He finished both plates!

This is at a 24 hour bar-type restaurant
Probably midnight here-

T has a very adult palate. Was he trying to hide his food while you were getting a picture of the fruit?

Update on my no clothes buying. So far I have bought. Zip zero zilch. and after seeing some of the fall fashion clips it looks to remain that way. More jeans with rips, paper bag waists, harem pants, pale and white jeans All a big NOPE
I've bought two pairs of flip flops and a t-shirt off Amazon...this no tax thing this week is nice.
