My dog has been eating grain free food since the day I got him, but I did do treats containing grain..until the day after his first birthday, his birthday cake made him excessively sick, which prompted me to find out what was going on.. he really is allergic to grain and has been 100% grain free ever since that day.

I wish it was as easy to try it with my kid.

I’ve done mug cakes before, but never bread.. will try it.

Whenever I read stuff like this I always wonder about something that both T’s pediatrician and GI doctors have told us, in different words, but same meaning...

Both basically said that more people are gluten free than actually need to be. Our GI doc went so far to call it an unnecessary and silly trend...
But so many people say they feel better once taking that road. I wish there was definitive data on it.

Literally every person I know who has gone gluten free without celiac's has said that they feel better. I think a large part of that though is the reduction in processed carbohydrates that our body cannot actually use. And also, while gluten doesn't necessary affect everyone, I have noticed a reduction in sugar in a lot of gluten free items over what is in regular bread and pasta. Maybe that also plays a role. Our bread here is obscenely sweet compared to other countries.

From last night.. went to KI to watch the actual fireworks show, and not just the fireworks.. Park was open from 10-midnight for Gold & Platinum passholders.. we went on Delirium 6 consecutive times, they let us stay on without even getting back in line! Finally, I tapped out.. T rode a 7th time.. only 5 people on the entire ride!!

I do wonder if these same people were doing primarily whole grains before the diet switch. If not, then I can see why there would be a larger difference.
Either way, I do know that a lot of people swear by a gluten free diet. I don’t think I would survive. ;)

Yeah.. thats a HUGE NOPE..

I would have been too dizzy to drive home if I went on even one more time! Plus, kiddo always wants to sit in the mid 30 numbers.. it’s the part of the wheel that goes the highest.. it feels like you’re straight upside down when in seats 32-36, if you hold your legs out they fly back.. which is T’s favorite part. No one was there so we got to pick our seats every time.. but of course we didn’t move. 😂

Totally agree. My DSIL has a problem with eating gluten. It has gone on for years, and he never knew what it was. My DD suggested cutting out certain foods with gluten. Sure enough that's what it was that upset his digestion. It has been one year being gluten free, and he has not had a problem unless someone has made something with gluten and not told him. Another thing is trying to find gluten free foods in a restaurant. He has found that even though some restaurants say a food item they make is gluten free, it sometimes is not. Or when he asks about a food, the waiter/waitress says that's just a fad. No honey, it is a thing.

I just don’t understand why there isn’t any medical evidence to support a gluten free diet. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not questioning if people feel better. I know that many say that gf has changed their life.. you would just think that there would be something scientific on the subject.

They're still relatively young in their research into gut biome, but many of those studies show that your overall health is determined more by your gut biome than any other aspect. I'm sure the answer will be in there.

I know. I don't understand either. DSIL talked to his current dtr and she said that he definitely has a problem with gluten. She checked him for anything else that she could run tests to get an answer. She suggested just taking all gluten out of his diet. He did. And it worked. There are just so many people that need to change their eating and would do lots better. But, the info is just not available.
