They build us tough over here 💪💪💪
Go to the beaches anywhere in Maine and you develop a resistance to cold water. My kids would play in the ocean until their lips literally turned blue and they just stood there and shivered. We had to pay attention because they wouldn't come out unless we told them to. I blame it on the lowered body temperature not allowing enough warm blood to get to the brain.

Of all the days that I went to Maine, I can remember only once when the water was warm enough to actually submerge ones body completely. The day before I could barely walk in the surf without freezing, then suddenly the next day it was almost like bath water. A native told me that it was because on that day the gulf stream came closer to the shore and warmed up the water a little. I'll take their word for it. I know I spent a lot more time in the water that day. If I remember correctly that was a 4th of July weekend.

@SteveBrickNJ , looks like you were correct about the IHOP's temporary IHOB marketing scheme. The figures are in, and their sales had a boost of 0.7% overall this year. (That figure may seem small, but across their entire operations, that percentage is larger than it may initially appear.) So I'm surprised, but there you go!
We ate there Saturday for dinner. I saw the burgers but I opted for the Full Turkey dinner. Thanksgiving in late July was a treat! :hungry::)

Grew up on Long Island NY north shore. We lived within walking distance of the LI Sound we would swim until our lips turned blue and I can remember my mother asking aren't you cold. Our reply was no and keep on swimming. Maybe by the end of August it would get warm -- a little. Those days of are long gone if it's not warm I'm not going in.

I agree. I grew up in NY as well and while the water was not as cold on the south shore beaches as they are in @Goofyernmost Maine, @Mr Ferret 88 's island, or the Pacific Ocean, if it isn't over 80 something I don't go in past the toes.

I tried a new coffee cake recipe yesterday and I just ate some of it for breakfast and it turned out so good I thought I'd share the recipe. It is super easy to make but probably won't work for those of you who can't do gluten but maybe you could modify it somehow. Anyway it is a Banana coffee cake with chocolate chip streusel. So if you have a couple bananas and are thinking of making banana bread or something try this. Again it is super simple to make and really yummy.

I am ok with a little cilantro, but too much turns me off. I grew it 2 years ago but bunnies or a ground hog ate it. You need it for salsa and tacos and such @SteveBrickNJ . I am sure you have eaten it if you ever ate Mexican food.
Cilantro tasting like soap is genetic, it's not a food taste that can easily be acquired. I can chop it up and eat a bunch in a salad my dh can't take more than a pinch in salad.
