I accidentally ran across to a pawn stars tribute to the old man last night on the History channel.

There is a couple things I think to needs to address for those saw it last. While there are pictures of the "old Man" with his 3 sons shown last night, he actually was a parent to 4 kids with his wife.

They did not show any pictures of the oldest kid at all based on what I saw of he special. I'm guess it is due to the Harrison Family not wanting to discuss anything about her due to how much it must of hurt the parents having their kid die at 6 years old.
What I know is she was born with down syndrome and developed other medical problems.

The old Man actually left the Navy in 1962, but he re-enlisted fourteen months later in order to obtain the health care benefits necessary to meet his daughter's medical needs.

The pictures they had a kid blurred out for a reason. One of their sons is a black sheep of the family and that son blurred out on picture is bad news to say the least based on what I read.

Not familiar with them, but it sounds like the family had a number of issues down through the years. I was impressed, however, by how the father re-enlisted in the Navy, for the purpose of securing quality medical care for his daughter's medical needs.

And the construction, which I actually am a little sad about but mostly intrigued by. It should be interesting to see how it will look and fit into the theme once it is all done.

I dunno. Doesn't "fit" with the theme of the resort. The shape reminds me of Steve Wynn's Mirage out on the Las Vegas Strip. Nope. Not a fan of this new structure, in it's present location.

I've begun a nightly ritual with my car. I go out (right now to the garage), and walk around it, wiping off any imperfections and making sure there's no scratches or dings yet (there's not). Then I tell it what a nice looking car it is and admire it. Today it also got vacuumed. I've had it two weeks now, and decided to vacuum it because goodness, there cannot be a leaf in my car. I've also named it. It's called the Falcon. It's a fast car. I think it could make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

Ha! New toy! :D

(I'll be worried about you in the winter months though, when the snow and ice hit the roads--you'll be so nervous about someone hitting your car! :jawdrop: )

Watching the end of The Goonies on AMC.
I still find it kinda' funny that after the filming the pirate ship "prop" was offered for free to anyone who was willing to pay to transport it to wherever, and there were no takers, so it was scrapped.
Since that flick has become such a "cult" classic over the last few decades+, I wonder what the thing might be worth these days, if it was properly preserved...?
Or, probably not... :cyclops:

My first car was a hand-me-down silver 1983 accord. It was a great car. Enjoy it! Bring tissues for your dad. ;)

My first car was a '71 Olds Cutlass with a Rocket 350. It was gold with a black vinyl top. Only thing was, my "Rocket" only had a 2 bbl carb on it, so it wasn't quite what I originally wanted, but, it was within my budget, at the time.
The 4 bbl actually got better mpg if you could keep your foot out of it (because the primaries were smaller on the 4bbl, but, who could? :hilarious:).
I had to pay for it myself from my savings, and my pop helped me talk the guy down from $1,450 to $1,250. And, I also paid for my own insurance. I learned to budget pretty quickly...!!!!! ;)
It had about 90,000 miles on it when I bought it, and I ran it up to about 183,000 before I let Bessie ;) go.
I really loved that car and never had any major problems with it. It was actually really hard to let go of her... ;)

So, all the way back in 2000, this little play ran for an extended, sold out run off-Broadway. Now it is getting a revival in London, opening November 24 and playing through December 9! (edit - the below poster is from the original production, not the upcoming revival.) If anyone is in London this November or December and wants to see it, let me know,. I might have access to comps.
