Ugh. I was just going to throw some clothes on to go pick up DS and the phone rang....he was pushed at recess and fell and hurt his wrist and is still complaining an hour later. So, off to the doctor I guess. DH is on the way to pick him up.
I called the doctor, doctors office is closed today. So I called Urgent care. They are closed during regular office hours. I call the doctor back to get the on-call doctor....they are really busy....if this is an emergency, please hang up and call back and choose 1 in the menu. So I do that, FINALLY get a person, she says bring him right now. So I tell her, my husband is on his way, about 20 minutes out. She says "Can't someone else pick him up?" No....because if I pick him up, he has to ride his bike, which is hard if his wrist is possibly broken. (Not to mention the fact that it would take ME longer to get there by bike than it will DH by car, since it's a 25 minute bike ride and I am still not dressed. THEN it would be another 25-30 minutes to ride to the doctor's office. )"Can't you put him on the back of YOUR bike?" (I only told her he can't ride his bike with the wrist) Um....NO. "Do you have a neighbor who can bring him?" I'm like....look....his school is in timbuktu. Even if I KNEW someone in this neighborhood with a car who isn't at work during the day, it would take them just as long to get there as it will now take my husband. So hubby is on his way.

Even if I could put him on the back of my bike, which he is WAY too big for, the street we would need to get there is closed this week. I would have to go all the way around and it would take me probably close to an hour to get him from his school to the doctor. We've been going a different route this week (which we've discovered is about 5 minutes faster) because the regular street we'd been taking is closed, and that route goes right past the doctor's office where the new route takes us past the train station instead. Bad timing for that street to be closed because that's how DH would normally take him by car, too.:banghead:

TGIF!!!! At least he's only missing 30 minutes of school...Fridays are half days for him, so he'd have been getting out soon anyway. I just called DH back to let him know about the street closure and he said he's just loading DS into the car and the wrist does look swollen. Prayers and pixie dust that it's not broken, PLEASE!!!

I was going to suggest sending a taxi, but by the time it got there, your DH would have probably arrived. I hope your son's wrist will be o.k.

Sending prayers and pixie dust. I know waiting is the hardest part when one of your family is injured but try and relax the best you can xoxo

I love that! I have done something similar but just with chopped veggies and the “not cheese” sauce. I might want to change that part up and maybe use cauliflower mixed with beans for a sauce. I want to try and stay away from the cashew. I love the idea of the zucchini noodles. I need to plant those this weekend. Oh, and a groundhog or bunny ate our parsley.

Oh no!! That's so sad about the 30 year old! Sounds like 4 wheelers are causing some serious accidents! Glad the 8th grader will be ok.
Oh my goodness, very sad news about the 30-year-old man. You can't prepare for freak accidents like that, and his poor mom must be beside herself in grief.

Glad to hear about the progress the 8th grader is making--once he's out of the ICU, that is a major step in his recovery. As his doc has shared, this will be a long recovery. He's just lucky to be alive. And as a side note here , it sounds like the 4-wheelers are perhaps not the most stable vehicles.

As for the "emailing mother" at least she's starting to wake up and smell the coffee. You may never get a true apology from her, but just the fact that she's starting to acknowledge facts, is a step in the right direction. (Sometimes, partial victories are the best we will receive.)

And on an upbeat note here--you're done with school for the entire summer!! :joyfull:

Yeah it has been a sad and weird way to start summer break. But it’s here and I plan to have fun!

Let me know how this turns out whenever you make it. I guess I am going to have to go vegan since my bp meds aren't bringing my bp down much. Or just stop eating. Not a good dtr appt today :(
Try food combining. I have been doing that the last oh whole week(;)). Certain foods should not be eaten together because they won’t digest properly and thusly create toxins in your body which can lead to illness. I thought I ate well too. Also look up vitamin c. https://www.google.com/amp/s/articl...lower-your-blood-pressure-with-vitamin-c.aspx

I was raised in a small town way up in northern New York I my first year in High School, A catholic high school, two seniors decided that they wanted to go for a ride. So, they made a private Sunday appointment, went down to the local Buick dealer, found a tire lug wrench and beat the salesman to death with it, and then went for a ride in a brand new Buick. This was in 1962. They got about 40 miles away before anyone figured out what happened and called the police. They were caught right away, but, was a stigma for a small town and a small private school.
Unbelievable. I believe it of course. I just find that so incredibly sad.

Most of the time, I just mix the tuna with mayo. Sometimes, I add a little diced celery. I'll also eat it with diced onion, but that's not my first choice. Do you ever put potato chips inside a tuna sandwich? That's all kinds of fun--used to do that when I was a kid. :hilarious:
Whenever dh has a tuna sandwich, which is super rare, he will put chips on his sandwich.

@MinnieM123 Are you sitting down?
If not do so now
Please eat whole fat 100% mayo. The low fat options are no good with all the fillers and sugars. Go for one with no fillers, no added sugar and an oil like olive
I know!! Who would have thunk it! Just found out that it is actually not good to eat reduced fat milk because of the processing. I no longer drink it, but whole raw milk is healthier.

My walnuts are soaking in place of cashews. My squash is only about 4 inches tall but at least it's in and Don't feel guilty about what you may or may not do to the groundhog, bunnies on the other hand are too cute to do anything to.

Update on a couple things...

I am officially done with this school year! We were supposed to have a half a day of work, however because of snow days and new laws about student hours and such, our bosses screwed up and didn't realize until today that teachers needed to put in a full day. So we were told this morning at 7:30am that we would need to stay a whole day. It was annoying.

That mom that was emailing me about her the extra credit, sent me more emails today. In the last one, I think she realized she was being a something that rhymes with "itch" and kind of rolled an apology into it without really saying she was blowing things out of proportion. Whatever, she is still on my list....:cautious:

As for the 8th grader that was in the 4 wheel accident, he is doing better and hopefully will be moved out of the ICU. He has been sleeping a lot and unable to eat or walk without wobbling. So when he can keep food down he should be moved to a regular room and hopefully go home next week. His summer is probably down the tubes though, he is a very active boy and Dr's say he will have to be fairly inactive (nothing strenuous) for awhile. He was told no baseball this summer, no football in the fall, and isn't even supposed to participate in the trap-shooting club. But the events could have been SO much worse so hopefully he can participate in those during the next season for those activities.

And the sad update, the teacher's aide 30 year son was found dead in a wooded area that was near his home. Apparently he skidded as he was driving his 4 wheeler to his home, it was probably very wet still from the storms we had, and the 4 wheeler flipped and he was pinned under it next to a tree. :(

Thanks to everyone for their prayers and thoughts.
Oh so sorry. :(

Sorry to hear that. BP can be tricky to control, but with medication (for some people--not everyone needs that), plus some diet changes, usually it can be brought under reasonable control. If you want to go vegan that's fine, but it can also be controlled with a non-vegetarian/vegan diet, and that would include lean cuts of beef, chicken and fish. It's also equally important to be sure to get in some exercise on a consistent basis.
Thank you. I do exercise 7 days a weeks. Walking, weights, and aerobics/yoga. I think my high readings at the dtr’s office are still the setting and white coat syndrome. This morning, I took it at home and it was down 24 points. A friend suggested focused breathing to help when it is being taken to help me relax. As for my diet, I do eat healthy but I do need to cut down on caffeine and sweets. I do eat meat but cut down on red meat to a minimum. I need protein for energy so I couldn’t cut it out entirely. I could use more plant-based proteins though.

Like I said in the other thread, see if they'll check your thyroid. It can't hurt, and I could be totally off base here, not being a doctor,, but...that's what happened to me. Blood pressure was high for no reason (it shouldn't be high, I'm 23), checked the thyroid, thyroid was low, blood pressure went down after we treated the thyroid

It's also tricky because you can have thyroid problems with no symptoms, so it gets missed. I felt like I had more energy after going on medication, but I didn't notice a real difference before going on it, like there was anything wrong. Now we just check it anually. Or when my blood pressure goes up. Whichever comes first.
Thank you again!😁

My dad:

Him: I think you should get the Buick encore
Me: *sings Let It Go*
Him: Well, you could use our GM rewards points.
Me: Okay, well, then I'll look at the Malibu.
Him: Nah. You should stick with the same dealer.
Me: So get a Honda?
Him: No, get a Buick
Me: I'm not getting a Buick. So which is it: GM car or same dealer?
Him: *shrugs*

He's so helpful.
If I say I will get a Buick will he let me use his GM points?;)

That is fascinating--thyroid. First time I've heard that one. Good to know for some people who may be struggling with high BP, from undisclosed reasons.
Yup. I honestly didn't know either, neither did my doctor, but then we got the thyroid under control, and we realized it was the culprit.

It's because the thyroid hormone regulates your body's functions, including cardiovascular, so an overactive or underachieve thyroid can cause cardiovascular problems, like hypertension. It's worth getting it checked if you've got unexplained high blood pressure.

On a more sober note.. this story breaks my heart.. every baseball parent’s worst nightmare... and my biggest fear with T pitching. I don’t know this family, but we’re praying for them. Just received an email from our coach, T’s team is going to make cards for the boy.
