I didn’t know your dd was told she would have a problem having kids @donaldtoo. What a blessing! Doctors aren’t always right about things. Guess that is why they “practice” medicine.

Yes, and very similar, and I'm fully aware of how this could/will
be misinterpreted, but, I'll take the heat if so...I always wear my big boy pants...! :)
A friend of mine at church said that he was questioned by a friend of another religious faith why we always call oyrselves "practicing Catholics". His response..."Because we're all human and will never get everything even close to right. But, we can still practice to do so!" ;) :)

Update on a couple things...

I am officially done with this school year! We were supposed to have a half a day of work, however because of snow days and new laws about student hours and such, our bosses screwed up and didn't realize until today that teachers needed to put in a full day. So we were told this morning at 7:30am that we would need to stay a whole day. It was annoying.

That mom that was emailing me about her the extra credit, sent me more emails today. In the last one, I think she realized she was being a something that rhymes with "itch" and kind of rolled an apology into it without really saying she was blowing things out of proportion. Whatever, she is still on my list....:cautious:

As for the 8th grader that was in the 4 wheel accident, he is doing better and hopefully will be moved out of the ICU. He has been sleeping a lot and unable to eat or walk without wobbling. So when he can keep food down he should be moved to a regular room and hopefully go home next week. His summer is probably down the tubes though, he is a very active boy and Dr's say he will have to be fairly inactive (nothing strenuous) for awhile. He was told no baseball this summer, no football in the fall, and isn't even supposed to participate in the trap-shooting club. But the events could have been SO much worse so hopefully he can participate in those during the next season for those activities.

And the sad update, the teacher's aide 30 year son was found dead in a wooded area that was near his home. Apparently he skidded as he was driving his 4 wheeler to his home, it was probably very wet still from the storms we had, and the 4 wheeler flipped and he was pinned under it next to a tree. :(

Thanks to everyone for their prayers and thoughts.
Oh no!! That's so sad about the 30 year old! Sounds like 4 wheelers are causing some serious accidents! Glad the 8th grader will be ok.

Oh my goodness, very sad news about the 30-year-old man. You can't prepare for freak accidents like that, and his poor mom must be beside herself in grief.

Glad to hear about the progress the 8th grader is making--once he's out of the ICU, that is a major step in his recovery. As his doc has shared, this will be a long recovery. He's just lucky to be alive. And as a side note here , it sounds like the 4-wheelers are perhaps not the most stable vehicles.

As for the "emailing mother" at least she's starting to wake up and smell the coffee. You may never get a true apology from her, but just the fact that she's starting to acknowledge facts, is a step in the right direction. (Sometimes, partial victories are the best we will receive.)

And on an upbeat note here--you're done with school for the entire summer!! :joyfull:

Like I said in the other thread, see if they'll check your thyroid. It can't hurt, and I could be totally off base here, not being a doctor,, but...that's what happened to me. Blood pressure was high for no reason (it shouldn't be high, I'm 23), checked the thyroid, thyroid was low, blood pressure went down after we treated the thyroid

It's also tricky because you can have thyroid problems with no symptoms, so it gets missed. I felt like I had more energy after going on medication, but I didn't notice a real difference before going on it, like there was anything wrong. Now we just check it anually. Or when my blood pressure goes up. Whichever comes first.

That is fascinating--thyroid. First time I've heard that one. Good to know for some people who may be struggling with high BP, from undisclosed reasons.

Ugh. I was just going to throw some clothes on to go pick up DS and the phone rang....he was pushed at recess and fell and hurt his wrist and is still complaining an hour later. So, off to the doctor I guess. DH is on the way to pick him up.
I called the doctor, doctors office is closed today. So I called Urgent care. They are closed during regular office hours. I call the doctor back to get the on-call doctor....they are really busy....if this is an emergency, please hang up and call back and choose 1 in the menu. So I do that, FINALLY get a person, she says bring him right now. So I tell her, my husband is on his way, about 20 minutes out. She says "Can't someone else pick him up?" No....because if I pick him up, he has to ride his bike, which is hard if his wrist is possibly broken. (Not to mention the fact that it would take ME longer to get there by bike than it will DH by car, since it's a 25 minute bike ride and I am still not dressed. THEN it would be another 25-30 minutes to ride to the doctor's office. )"Can't you put him on the back of YOUR bike?" (I only told her he can't ride his bike with the wrist) Um....NO. "Do you have a neighbor who can bring him?" I'm like....look....his school is in timbuktu. Even if I KNEW someone in this neighborhood with a car who isn't at work during the day, it would take them just as long to get there as it will now take my husband. So hubby is on his way.

Even if I could put him on the back of my bike, which he is WAY too big for, the street we would need to get there is closed this week. I would have to go all the way around and it would take me probably close to an hour to get him from his school to the doctor. We've been going a different route this week (which we've discovered is about 5 minutes faster) because the regular street we'd been taking is closed, and that route goes right past the doctor's office where the new route takes us past the train station instead. Bad timing for that street to be closed because that's how DH would normally take him by car, too.:banghead:

TGIF!!!! At least he's only missing 30 minutes of school...Fridays are half days for him, so he'd have been getting out soon anyway. I just called DH back to let him know about the street closure and he said he's just loading DS into the car and the wrist does look swollen. Prayers and pixie dust that it's not broken, PLEASE!!!
