Why? is the distance really that big of walking?

The distance between the camp grounds and the boat ferry or dining area or pool in FW can be prohibitive. You'll either have to rent a golf cart, take the internal buses (which have mixed reviews on slowness and efficiency), or bring bicycles (this would be my personal choice but remember to bring a rain cover and a lock).

gotcha!
I suppose the "premium" slots are facing the lake or are very close to the facilities right?

Are the premium spots close to the cabins on the loop nearest the mercantile? If so, I think it’s probably doable without a golf cart. We rode bikes all thru there, the distance from stables to restaurant to beach wasn’t bad at all on bike, it would be walkable as well.. but I think there’s another restaurant that I didn’t see, and I’m not quite sure where the pool is located.

@MySmallWorldof4 will be able to give a better description of the property.

Wow, you have 20 more days of school!? We are done on the 6th and I thought that was late. At least you have the cruise to look forward to.

I keep having random jabs of pain when thinking about T. I’m so scared for him. I feel like I’m letting him down by not being there, I can’t warm up with him or give him a face to face pep talk.

If he does not absolutely kill it tonight, then I’m almost certain that he won’t make it, or at the very least, will be moved down a level. I don’t even want to think about his heartbreak if that happens. Baseball was enough tears, but soccer? and with his best friend on that team.. ugh I can’t... baseball was also a little easier because he was just-turned-7yr old, trying out for a 9U team.. none of his friends made it. This is different because he’s already been playing with this team.

I just wish I had some kind of magic word to get rid of his nerves. He has to figure out how to handle this high pressure himself, if he doesn’t, then all of his skills don’t really mean anything in the big picture, at least not at this level of play. :(
I get you. My stomach gets all in knots when youngest is in a competition but the best advice is ...,,,
It's completely out of your sphere of control. There's nothing you can do one way or another. You've prepared him, and it's time for him to just do his thing. Not everyone can make the team, and even if he doesn't, I'm sure he'll have a great time with you in whatever else you fill that time with. But everything you're worrying about and feeling pained about right now is outside of your control.
This^^^^ If it is meant to be it will happen. It is up to him to prove himself. In any case I hope he does well, or did well.

I'm checking the site already. You have to pay double then right? First to the RV guys and then to Disney for using their Fort Widlerness playgrounds right?

Aka rent of the RV + daily pay for using Fort Wilderness's spots.

Do the daily rates include the hookup, power, water..etc..?
Yes to paying both companies. We went during May so site rates are higher. There are cheaper times to go, plus different campers need different sites, so you would need to know which type of site the camper you are renting will fit on. Then you call Disney, or go on their website for that type of site. The Disney cost includes the water, sewer hook up, cable and wifi.

Whine alert—
I’m a nervous wreck. Absolute mess.
I’m praying like crazy. Omg I hate that I can’t be there for these 2 nights.
What 8 year old doesn’t have a parent at sports tryouts?!?! Apparently mine.
Breathe. You are going to give yourself an ulcer. He will be fine. The kids are usually fine. It is the parents with the issues. 😉

The state of NJ requires students to be in the classroom 180 days. Our original last day was the 15th. Snow cancellations caused days to be added to make up for that.
I do NOT get paid in the summer. No work....no pay. So maybe it's good that I'm working until the 20th. :)We always get our last pay on the final day of school. ;)

There is no guarantee where you will be placed. We were lucky in that we were in a loop that was across from the Mercantile which is near the pool. There is a snack bar at the pool, but Trail’s End is by the lake. There is a food truck by the campfire which actually has a good menu. It is easier to take a golf cart to Bay Lake where you can then take the watercraft to MK, or WL, or CR.
