Sympathy like for T and for you. He will be sore for sure. Hope he heals quickly. Our driveway is sloped and I always worry about a wipeout.

Thanks. Our driveway isn’t even sloped, that’s the worst part. He said “I was going really fast, but I had an itch. So I itched, and then I lost my balance and couldn’t get it back, and couldn’t stop. That’s why I went to the street.”

Oh bud, 1. you can’t let go on a scooter. 2. Throw your body to one side if you’re going to fall, preferably close to the grass. 3. You’re not allowed within 15ft of the street now. :hilarious:
Lesson learned, I think. :)

Please rethink the brace before going to work. GWS xoxo
I'm wearing the brace. My boss and I need to clean out the warehouse, so she said yesterday I could wear sneakers. So I've got sneakers and my contraption of a brace on. I'm in a lot of pain, which was my second thought this morning, after, "Belle is so soft!") But I can walk. She probably wouldn't object to me wearing sneakers until I heal, actually.

The dining reservations always determine which park we'll go to.
I called at 7:20am this morning and said what restaurants I wanted. I took the ones that were not at 4pm or 8pm. I try to get as close to the "normal dinner times" as possible i.e the 5 to 7pm range. Yak & Yeti at 7:15 is a touch beyond that...but so what :joyfull:

I had so much competition because almost all public schools in NJ are off that week. A million New Jersey residents are going to Disney. I know I've mentioned this before. Sorry for repeating myself. The Disney employee's openly call that week: "Jersey Week" ;)

I need to get better about this. Open more windows and turn on the ceiling fans instead of just using the AC
Easy for me...we don't have air conditioning at all. In the summer months, it gets up over 100 degrees in the house and it's MISERABLE. We use fans to sleep at night, but there's just no cooling the place down. I keep the curtains closed all the time to keep a bit of the heat out.

Yep, I'll never forget the first time we flew first class on our honeymoon to WDW...amazing...!!! :)
After that, coach/economy has always felt like a Greyhound bus...!!!!! :hilarious:;)
The only time I ever flew first class was on my way to basic training. My flight to Amarillo connected in Dallas and they took two of us, probably the two that looked the most scared, and put us in First Class. To bad it was such a shot trip, but, it was fun while it lasted. I wasn't all that happy about the welcoming committee that met us at the airport.

The first time I flew first class was from ATL to LAX and then LAX to ICN ... way back was 1st class ICN to LAX, then LAX to MIA.

Kind of sad that the flights were the best part of that trip.

I have to edit and add those specific flights.. the beginning leg was EYW to MCO (obviously no 1st class) then MCO to ATL (coach) before the 1st class portion. Longest travel time that I’ve ever experienced.

Today’s Drama
Brought to you by 21Stamps

T and I arrive home @ 8:30.

“Mom, can I ride my scooter real quick? 5 minutes, please?”

“Ok T. 5 minutes only.”

“Great! Thanks!”

I’m in my room getting changed. Hear a blood curdling scream.

Look out the window and see a car stopped in the street, and a man standing over my son crumpled in an odd position. His scooter is half in the street. No more screams.

I SPRINT and grab my robe, not dressed yet.. Sprint down the stairs as I’m fumbling with tying my robe. and full faster sprint out the front door the the end of my driveway.

In a mater of 10 seconds every worst imaginable thought went thru my head.

I reach my son, he lets out a screaming cry. I realize that he didn’t get hit by the car. The man says “I saw him wipe out and wanted to make sure he was ok.” I thank the man and lean over T. Man leaves. I’m pushing prodding and asking questions, T is sobbing. I realize nothing is broken and bring him inside.

It was JUST SCRAPES!!! Bad scrapes, elbow, hip, side, and knee, lots of blood, but only scrapes underneath. As soon as I realize this I started LAUGHING. T says through his cries “Why are you laughing at me?? Oh no get that stuff away from me!!(referring to the peroxide) MOMMY WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING!!!???”
“Because I’m so glad that you’re just being a wimp!”

That did not go over well. I told him that if he calmed down he we get ice cream. I told about all of my scrapes and injuries at age 8 and earlier, and told him how lucky he was that he didn’t even have a wipe out until 8 years of age.

I realized that besides his broken bone at age 3, which he probably doesn’t remember, that the kid has never actually been hurt. I think he was more scared by it than anything, and that’s what caused such a reaction. I know it hurt, but not to the degree that he was sobbing, especially his reaction while I was sanitizing and bandaging, it was way over the top.

Afterwards, we both laughed about it over banana splits... and he pinky promised that he will not go past a certain spot of the driveway again, and he will not scream bloody murder unless it’s a serious injury, and that I won’t laugh at him again (I honestly didn’t mean to, it was almost relief laughter if that makes sense). Poor kid is all scraped and bandaged up though. So many sports games this weekend, will be interesting to see how he handles it.
What a contrast from that to my first major childhood accident.

I was riding my bike along with a friend. My father ran a trucking company with a drive way all the way around the main barn (truck garage). The back part was gravel. My friend and I decided it would be fun to race. Something that my parents had specifically banned from me ever doing. Anyway, I was leading and went around a corner in the back and hit a good sized stone that grabbed the front wheel of my bike, flipping the front wheel into the ----I direction from where I was heading. The bike stopped instantly and I went over the top of the handle bars and landed on my forehead. I remember bouncing on my head three times and the next thing I remember is waking up with the bike in front of me and my head on the seat.

I remember coming to and being the most relaxed that I could ever remember being before (or since) and then I moved my arm. As soon as I did, the pain hit me. My legs were all skinned and bleeding, my elbows and hands were the same. I had this huge bruise on my stomach and my head hurt something awful. Dilemma, I couldn't tell my parents about it because I was forbidden to race my bike. At least now, I reasoned, I was still alive, but, if they found out, they would kill me.

It was the middle of summer and all of a sudden I was wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants and (thankfully I had hair back then so) I just combed my hair over the mess. After two days of stealth behavior, I noticed that the bruise had become a hard lump and I finally panicked and confessed. They took me to the ER and determined that the lump was a blood clot. I don't remember what they did about it, but, I'm still alive 60 years later so whatever it was, it was successful.

Moral of the story... be glad that he screamed. I said nothing, but, it could have been fatal. I was 10 at the time. Looking back, however, it would explain some of my current behavior.

Tell me your Tony's memories please.

Vague.

I haven’t dined there since I was a teen. It was a tradition for my family annually. I do remember that I enjoyed it, and I think I remember pretty windows.. I can picture myself eating spaghetti there and chatting with my grandmother. I don’t remember the food being bad as so many people claim. But it’s been a little over 20 years..
