@dryerlintfan How far in advance did you make your NOLA hotel reservations? I briefly checked last night, and The Roosevelt is already sold out (supposedly they have amazing Christmas decorations, plus I have HHonors points saved up).. and really almost everything in the French Quarter is sold out! I’m shocked. I wanted a hotel with a New Orleans feel, not a typical modern Hilton/Marriott. It didn’t even cross my mind that hotels would be booked up so early. Is New Orleans a popular Thanksgiving spot?

Way late, but, hope you were able to find something suitable!
When we went to NOLA for our 2nd wedding anni. in Dec. of '90 we stayed here, in the heart of the French Quarter, on the west corner of Bourbon and Toulouse (although, it wasn't a Sheraton at the time - pic from our 21st b-day trip weekend for youngest DD)...

We had a room on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking Toulouse!

For youngest DDs trip, we stayed at The Whitney, on the corner of Poydras and Camp, even more southwest than Canal. We did A LOT of walking, but, we had a blast!!!!! :joyfull:

Back in the day it was a bank, and they kept the original vault that you can pay to dine in...

NOLA is a fun place to visit for several days, all on it's own...!!!!!!! :joyfull:

I'm lucky if I get 6.5 hours. Sometimes I try to go to bed earlier, and it just makes me wake up earlier. I learned in the Army that as long as I get 4 hours of sleep, I can survive the day and mostly function. Anything less than that, I cannot. I'm just a monster that cries a lot and drinks a lot of coffee, LOL
I can't really function on less than 6 hours, but maybe that's because I don't drink coffee?

So.. volcano in Hawaii.

Was looking at the map and I'm still scratching my head.
The volcano that supposedly exploded was so far from the area they said its affecting.

But then in some of the news, it says that its actually one of the "vents" on one of the side of the volcano thats causing the lava flow.

I'm still sorta confused.
Vesuvius was a long way from Pompeii too. It might not be just the lava flow that is of concern.

I'm showing my Liberian friend Star Wars for the first time.

She doesn't know Darth Vader is Luke's father.

My oh my this is gonna be great.

I hope she likes it, although why wouldn't she.

Star Wars story for you...
I wore a Star Wars t-shirt to school today and the kids loved it. I got many "May the 4th be with you Mrs. P.!" One kid got mad at me because I wasn't wearing a Mickey shirt today though, she said it was Friday and I'm supposed to wear Mickey. I guess I'm predictable.

You'll need to get a Star Wars/Mickey shirt then. I'm sure somewhere they exist.

So now we're on Empire Strikes Back.

She somehow picked up on the fact that Kylo Ren is Han Solo's son, but she missed the fact that Leia is his mother. So she asked who Kylo Ren's mother is. I refused to tell her. :joyfull:

She's hooked.
