That's a really good start!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should have kept going

You're too kind!! That stocking was a hot mess. AND you couldn't even fit a tangerine in the toe, let alone an orange!!

I think our entire wedding cost less than $600.
Our Disneymoon cost way more View attachment 281603

We did the same thing. I think we spent about $1k total on our wedding (largely thanks to our chef friend gifting us her catering, and my in-laws making the wine), and then we went backpacking through Patagonia for our honeymoon and that cost us a pretty penny.

Size is an easy fix for you next try. Just trace the outside line an inch or 2 larger. As for the toe decoration put it on before putting the stocking together. If you do it again I'll walk you through it. I'm thinking about a princess inspired one that will be treasured forever

That's a really lovely offer! I tried to get my mom to help me through it and she just said that she made those a million years ago, and she didn't use a pattern, so just try on my own, LOL. Not helpful at all.

Impressive work considering no pattern or help!
A is getting a mom made stocking for Christmas this year. Step one go to clip art find a stocking shape you like and blow it up to the size you want plus about 2 or 3 inches bigger. Better to make it too big than too small. If you go step by step you will have exactly what you want long before the holidays

I'm a big fan of practical classes. I realize the importance of academic studies, but I do with that more emphasis was also placed on basic skills learning as well.

I do too. We didn’t have Home Ec classes in high school, I don’t think I even touched an oven, iron, or washing machine until I was 18. :hilarious:
I moved away 6 weeks after high school graduation, spent a lot of time on the phone with my mother the first few months. 😂

I’m totally steeling this!!

I got really lucky with my dress and had found an online clearance from a bridal store going out of business in California. I only paid $120 for the dress, but because i bought it blind i did have to get alterations and that ran me about $85 on top of that.

On the topic of sewing..... My mom made all our stockings, so i wanted to make them for my small family. After about four hours i had to give up though, because this was the best i could do :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

@dryerlintfan How far in advance did you make your NOLA hotel reservations? I briefly checked last night, and The Roosevelt is already sold out (supposedly they have amazing Christmas decorations, plus I have HHonors points saved up).. and really almost everything in the French Quarter is sold out! I’m shocked. I wanted a hotel with a New Orleans feel, not a typical modern Hilton/Marriott. It didn’t even cross my mind that hotels would be booked up so early. Is New Orleans a popular Thanksgiving spot?

Well,..... we didn't get a hotel, and we didn't want to stay in French Quarter (it's loud and I'm old :hilarious::hilarious:). We got a really great AirBnb across the river in Algier's Point that was a 5 minute walk to the ferry. In order to get to the French Quarter we just hopped on the ferry or took an Uber.

Attending Band Concerts.....well that's good for your health! ....and spirit! :)
The one tonight is the longest. 4 bands, senior awards and recognitions, reception following. Because there are so many groups, it is held in the gym. I estimate that to be about 2 hours in the bleachers for me.

Love the music though, and hearing what the seniors have in mind for their next step.

Ok thanks! It looks like we may have to stay in a different area as well.

$200 was the low end, some girls I talked to were looking at $400 or more. My wedding dress wasn't even $400.
The dresses are crazy. Here is a popular one near me. https://www.camillelavie.com/prom/all-prom-dresses/

For an additional fee, they will register your dress, and make sure no one else purchases it to wear at your event. I remember a mom telling me a few years back that runs another $100.

Mine was $300 from a company named Gunne Sax--they had beautiful dresses; it wasn't a bridal company, but the dresses were designed for various occasions. (Think the company closed around 1995. They had also undergone a few name changes down through the years.)
I remember them. And one of those stores were still here at the local mall in 2003. That is where I took my sorta ex SIL (it's complicated), to look for a wedding dress. And she found it there! It was lovely for a garden wedding.
