Ok all.. I may have salvaged T’s 8th birthday potential disappointment.

Here’s the plan-

Tonight - make Real Madrid jersey cookies for class, put T’s last name and “8” along with the Adidas symbol on each. Can’t do the Real Madrid crest.. maybe I could put it on the cookie bags?

Later tonight- fill his room with balloons and a happy birthday banner.

Tomorrow-

Hide behind his door then jump out and spray him with Silly String when he wakes up.
Too cruel?

Have a fancy donut with lots of marshmallows.. stick an “8” candle in it..have it lit sitting on the table with his presents when he comes downstairs.

After school- Pick him and 3 friends up (already told their parents) and surprise them with a 90 minute jump at a trampoline park.

Drop kids off. Go to soccer practice. Come home and do homework, have a giant cupcake waiting for desert.

Save a ‘family party’ for when my sister’s family comes back from Florida next week. I’ll make the soccer cake at that time.

How does that sound? Is it weird not to have a cake on your actual birthday?

Sounds fun! Love the silly string idea! The cupcake is cake so it works, plus you have a donut planned for earlier in the day. That is cake for breakfast!

I watched some of the nightly news when I came home. What a freaking bizarre incident. The part that got me was the other passengers holding on to this woman, to keep her from being ejected out of the plane, while in flight??!!! OMG! :jawdrop::jawdrop:

And as for the other passenger that died, he or she died at a hospital--haven't heard the reason why yet. Awful.
So that's the question. Is the deceased a different passenger?.....or.....is the deceased the woman who was saved from being sucked out the window, only to die later on at the hospital?

Best I can tell, it was the same passenger.
They released her name, but, I can't remember what it was. She was a publicity specialist (?) for Wells Fargo from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Still not clear to me whether she sustained shrapnel injuries or maybe oxygen deprivation with her head outside the window too long...?
As far as I've heard it's the first accident-related death on one of there planes in the airlines 51 year history (although one person was killed in a car when a SW plane skidded off the runway in Chicago some years ago.
An amazing safety record for sure.
But, of course, none of that makes this any less tragic.
Just such a freak thing, and so very sad.

Just saw that Barbara Bush passed away. :( It seems like she lived a very interesting life for her 92 years and had a lot of love from people especially her family.

All politics aside, she was always one of my favorite First Ladies. I thought she had a warm and witty personality. She was kinda like a grandmother that everyone wanted for their family. I recall that her favorite fashion accessory was her strand of white pearls, and I always will have that image of her in my mind. May she RIP.

I got that impression of her too. Sounds like she was pretty smart and shrewd as well.

Funny, well not funny exactly, but, I was just about to post that myself. Loved Barbara. Never cared that much for her husband or political children, but, she was a hoot. Since I lived in Vermont our summer trips were usually to Well's Beach, Maine which is just a few miles from Kennebuckport , Maine where their summer home was located. We always drove around the coastal area and past their compound and check for Secret Service Cars. We would always tell our friend that we were invited to have tea with George and Bab's, but, the Secret Service wouldn't let us in. She seems to have had a good and happy life and can now rest in peace. I wonder what is going to happen with George now.

I don't like George is in the best of health either, so I wouldn't be too surprised if he passed soon as well. It seems sometimes that when couples have been together as long as they have, when one passes the other usually goes soon too.

Too bad those secret service people didn't let you in for tea, you and Barb probably would have had a great time together!
