We went to the last open house today and confirmed that's where DD wants to go. Phew. That's over with. And now we get her official advice on Monday. It was fun today, though. We went to the Dual Immersion English classroom and the teacher there suggested DD talk with one of the students, because the students can tell you more about what they love or what was hard, etc... So she called a 3rd year student over so we could ask questions and DD just got so animated and you could tell she was just having a blast and it is totally her thing. So she definitely wants to do that. They get to go to London in their 2nd year for 4 days and tour, they have a theater company who comes in and does workshops with the kids in English, they do week-long exchange programs where a student comes to stay with your family for a week and then you go stay with them for a week and learn what their school is like, what they do in free time, they practice their English skills...sounds like a great time. DS had been upset about having to go because he said there was nothing for him to do...but first thing when we walked in the door, there was a computer programming place where they had stations to make your own website and they had a virtual reality game and we were the first ones there, so he got to go twice. They had all sorts of fun stuff in the gym like ping pong, gymnastics, trampolines, etc. There were quizzes all over the place....DS ended up having a good time, but I think he still likes the first school we went to best. We still have a whole year for him before he has to choose, though, and that's IF it's recommended that he go back to mainstream public education instead of staying in special ed. I guess we'll see, but I'm glad at least DD was able to make a choice. She hates making decisions because she says it's so hard, and with her, she's interested in SO many different things that it's hard to narrow it down to make a choice. So I'm glad this was a relatively painless decision for her, and I think she really made the right decision for herself.
