Why are they getting rid of the sports sedan?
It's 13 years old, leaks oil, and one of the tire rims is corroding, so it keeps leaking air. Oil can't be repaired, and the tire rim would cost $700, plus then it needs new tires in six months. Dealer only offered them $550 for it. SUV is newer (2003) and pretty much everything still works. I know why they're getting rid of it, but it still makes me sad. And I'm not thrilled about getting the SUV. I suggested (jokingly) that we could put the V8 engine in the SUV (which only has a V6). They somehow didn't go for that...

I'm sure you'll be fine. ;) Many people can't afford to buy a car, and you're fortunate that your parents help you out. :)
Well, kinda can't get to class without a car. It's either that or live on campus. Car is actually cheaper. And given that I'm not currently working (I'm trying. Not working out so far), I either need help or I drop out of school.

I'm actually getting a nicer car than my current one. Heated seat actually works, all the windows roll down, it has a tighter turning radius so it's actually easier to park (ironically), but it has no sun roof and I feel like I have to really step on it to get it to go faster. Not to mention when it snows, I'll have to get a stool just to reach the roof.

So not thrilled. Mourning my first car. But it'll get me to school. Someday, I want a Camaro

@StarWarsGirl95 , I think this would be a better car for you than the SUV. Looks like it has a lot of pick up! :hilarious:

While I think it's awesome that your parents are helping with tuition and a car, surely you realize that there are thousands, probably tens of thousands, of college kids doing it entirely on student loans and bus passes.

That being said, I want a Camaro too. Or a Trash Am.
What I'll probably get next is a Maxima or a Lexus.
(Although I think I could rock the heck out of a Mini Cooper or a Fiat 500C. You know, 'cause I'm still pretty hip for a 47 year old broad.)

Nearest bus is 20 minutes from me. My scholarships pay most of my tuition. I had an offer for a free ride to the school where I take Spanish. I thought that the school where I am is a better school, and my parents agreed. Had I needed to, I could have done the student loan thing. My parents decided that I didn't need to drown in debt upon graduating. Which is nice. I do have friends who do it on student loans.

Their offer is to let me keep the car and let me pay for repairs. I'm thinking...although it would probably be stupid and a waste of money. Either way, we'd have it for another year at most. They're not letting me take it down to Florida if I do the CP.

I'm mourning my first car. It was not only my first car, but the first car that I ever drove. The SUV was the car I took the driving test in...and that nearly got totaled six months later in the hit and run accident.

Camaros are awesome. My dad's first car was a Camaro.

And no, I didn't mean for them to buy me one now. They are expensive. ;) Once I have a job and am making some money, that's what I want. I am just not wild about the SUV. It's like driving a boat, and quite honestly, I don't think that transmission works properly because it has zero pickup (Dad agrees on that one). Not to mention it's a gas hog.

On the bright side, they said they are letting me learn how to drive the Buick now so that in case something happens to the SUV or it needs routine maintenance, I can still go to school. So now when we go down to Hilton Head, I can actually make grocery store runs and such, or my parents can go on a bike ride and my brother and I can go to the beach house.

Would you like this? Banana bread peanut butter at Beaches and Cream. The restaurant was okay. I wouldn't go back but the dessert was wonderful. Extra scoop of PB worked wonderfully.

I don't remember but they used to have burgers. And I wanted the Home Run Burger, 4 burgers in one, (this was when I was a wee little lad) and my parents said no so I cried and cried. The end.

I like a lot of sweets that don't have chocolate in it. Schoolbread, this, Bread pudding, eclairs (chocolate only on top).

I'm a caramel person. When I go to Karamell Kuche I'm literally a kid in a candy store. :hungry:

Nope, started with stomach cramps (akin to labour pains), urgent! trips to the bathroom, and then yakking.

I avoided the yakking! Vomit-free since December 1996, still intact. :)
Got ya beat... The summer of 1974 after a visit with our new born to my Grandfathers house. He did the cooking. There is no telling how long that meat had been in his freezer.

I can't drive SUV's either.
Before the Buick, Hubby had a Ford Freestyle - not even a full-fledged SUV, but too big for me nonetheless.

He makes fun of me, says I like to drive "with roller skates on my butt", ie-low cars.

My dad had a Camaro. He sold it just before I got my licence. By then, we had a Pontiac Parisienne - a great big, huge, giant BOAT!

FYI - If memory serves, the Camaro was a gas hog too.

Not to turn this into a pi$$ing contest ... but remind me again ... how many pregnancies have you had? :hilarious:
Morning sickness pretty much ends all vomit free streaks!

1974 is pretty impressive though.

Just because I was fortunate enough to not get myself pregnant is no reason to attempt to discredit my vomit free record. Morning sickness is a self imposed illness and doesn't get sympathy points. Labor pains are the same thing. I had two children and never felt a thing. Mind over matter!

My mom never vomited when she was pregnant. She said certain foods didn't agree with her, but other than that, she never vomiting. She was six weeks pregnant with each of us, and went to WDW and rode Space Mountain each time (with her doctor's okay of course). No issues.

She was just lucky, I guess. Given my stomach, I don't expect to be so lucky.:hungover:
