The point of the changes is to keep things up-to-date and to allow the community to continue to thrive.

The changes behind the scenes will allow the addition of new features along the way that were not possible on the old platform.

The internet is a grave yard of forums that have not kept up to date and invested in new developments. I dont want WDWMAGIC to be one of them.

Well Sir I just saw the new platform about an hour ago. Kudos. As I waded through half of your tech thread I learned a lot quickly from you and the other members.

My good news and happiness is I had not been able to directly upload photos since the last iOS update and brighter tech minds than mine tried with my iPhone. (I've snarf'd them from my Twitter feed instead) Today with your new platform I once again upload photos. ***happy dance***

Appreciate all the questions asked and answered in the tech thread as it gave me an opportunity to learn some stuff before trying to navigate the new platform. Looking good. :)

Of course everyone is different, but I just did not see the merit in having people worry about upcoming changes that were going to happen regardless.

I'm confident that if you give it a chance you will become very comfortable with the new site.
I didn't find it all that complicated to figure out. It was just strange getting used to the page design. It seems boxy to me. However, it isn't something that I would get all upset about in and of itself. The only pause that I had was that I had been trying to make a few adjustments to my defaults in the last few days. My first reaction when I "had to" sign on and saw the changes was that I had mistakenly clicked on something within my operating system that caused it. First I looked at the list of threads in chit chat (I always start at chit chat and later move to topics to raise my blood pressure.) But no indication of any change happening from Discussion Lab Alpha.

That said, I don't see anything wrong with what I am seeing and I am probably among one of the more "elderly" and less computer savvy. So if I could figure it out, it should be a piece of cake for everyone else. The only thing the forewarning on all the topics letting people know that the change was coming today might have prevented a few anxious moments for some, including myself.

I do miss seeing how long people have been on the site, how many message they had posted and how many likes received.
Same, I wonder why they removed all that information.

Mouse over or Click on the avatar next to the post to see that info.

While that might be "cleaner" for mobile work. I find that feature a waste of time. Having to click or over your mouse when theres plenty of space for stats in the left side? bad design bro.

Coming from the perspective of working in an IT Project management office, I think it's a good idea to warn people of new changes when they occur, even if it is a minor design upgrade. That's our policy. I figured out pretty quickly what was going on, but I can see how others might have found it disconcerting. Just my two cents.

My major pet peeve from this morning was navigation on mobile, but it looks like you've made some adjustments, which does help.

Any clue how to help @MOXOMUMD ?

I have not. The buck is supposed to stop at the Mason Dixon line.
We are having a heat wave. It is 8 degrees and a warm overnight of 4 degrees. ;)
Remind me what state you live in Gabe1.....photo is unrelated to our conversation about the cold. I just wanted to test posting a photo.

Hub, Kapono, and I braved the -21 temps to go out for doughnuts this morning. A Dunkin' Donuts opened before Christmas in the town near us and we hadn't checked it out yet so today was the day. We waited until we got home to eat them, and I put my plate down with my maple glazed donut on it and half a of plain donut hole for Kapono on a table and walked back to the kitchen to get a napkin. Kapono never sneaks food off of plates we leave but today I hear hubs yell at her. She decided she had waited long enough and went to my plate and took her donut off my plate and totally left mine alone. I was a little mad but we both found it funny! Especially since she could have stolen the big donut since they were right next each other but went for what she knew was hers. :)

Ha! I love Kapono. What a smart Pup!
