Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Hubs has did the Polar Plunge around here a couple years ago. Around here it is a fun raiser event for the Special Olympics. He was on a team with a church member who has a son with severe special needs. Their team raised about $3500 for the fund raiser. He couldn't be on the team last year because of his pneumonia and I won't let him this year because of his ankle (even though it should be well beyond healed). I just don't like the idea of him jumping into freezing water.

I am more in awe of the amount of EMTs that are on stand by for the Polar Plunge.

THNX for sharing that looks like so much fun. I just wish my dh would agree to a cruise but he hates boats:(

Thanks, Figgy! And, it was indeed an awesome experience!!!!! :joyfull:
It was DWifey, mine, and our two youngests first time on a ship, and we absolutely loved it...!!! :)
But, the boat does have sea "motion". ;)
Nobody got totally puking sick, but, there was one (and only one) time were each of our kiddos were feeling it a bit. DS on the Lido deck the first evening, but, it passed quickly. Youngest DD at dinner on night 3, but, that passed quickly, as well. Oldest DD left dinner early to go up to her cabin because she was feeling it on our second to last night, but, never chucked. ;)
Myself, DWifey, and SonIL never had any problems with it. We DEFINITELY felt the boat moving, but, it just never adversely affected us. I remember waiting for the elevator more than once when you definitely had to shift your weight...!!! :hilarious:  ;)
And, early our second night at sea, I woke up, and was just dozing off again when the ship jolted massively...I looked at my phone and it was 3:36a. Nobody else made a sound...they were stone cold asleep. I thought to my self..."What the friggin' hell was that...small rogue wave...?!?!?! "
Have no clue what it ever was, all I know is the boat didn't sink... :cyclops:
We also had those patches and stuff, but, I never used any of it.
I should have been a pilot and an astronaut and owned that bar... :cautious:  ;) :)

Sorry any of you felt it. Motion sickness isn't his problem:grumpy:

I was talking with my sister in law about going together in three years, and the whole trip I kept thinking about how we definitely would not be room sharing because I want my own bed next time :hilarious::hilarious:

Early on Disney had full sized stainless steel cribs. We did that through the age of 3, (she was the 2nd born) We moved on from the French Quarter to the POR. There they at that time delivered a cot with a head and foot board in the mansions and my DD slept on that. Now they have a daybed in the POR bayous that pops out of dresser/bench. It is good for young children. Will not fit an adult. We stayed in a Bayou, 3 adults in 2016. I did not like the set up as it lacked anywhere to put clothing and we were there just shy of 2 weeks. We'd go back to the Mansion side of POR but Bayous would likely work for your young family. My DS in the Bayou's used the metal shelf rack in the sink room for his clothes stacked-he is tall so he could reach, I could not.

And no, most cast do not wear steel toed shoes. Depending on their role most are in either solid white or solid black athletic shoes, no branding allowed in contrasting color.

Just got back from watching ferdinand... damn boys.. that movie was good. We were nonstop laughing at some scenes! :hilarious:

a 9/10 in the CESMeter(tm).

Other movies:

The Last Jedi: 7.5/10 CesMeter
Dunkirk: 6/10
Get out: 8/10
Thor Ragnarog: 9/10
Spiderman homecoming: 8/10
Coco: 9.5/10
Guardians of the Galaxy 2: 8/10
John Wick 2: 7.5/10
Bright: 5/10
Alien Covenant: 6/10
Lego Batman: 7.5/10
Pirates Dead men tell no tales: 5/10
Valerian and the City of the thousand planets: 7/10
Beauty and the Beast: 8/10
Cars 3: 7.5/10
Despicable Me3: 7/10
Transformers 5: 3/10
Kingsman the golden Circle: 6/10 (huge reduction of quality what the hell..)
Blade Runner: 8/10
I'm so disappointed...they don't have Coco here in English. They usually do an original version and a dubbed version and we always go to the original because you just can't translate most jokes...they are usually plays on words and they lose their meaning when translated. But now I'm torn...do we go to the Dutch version, knowing we'll miss a lot? Or do we wait until it hopefully comes out on Netflix or something? Do I plan on getting the DVD when it comes out so I can watch it in English whenever?

DH still needs to watch Star Wars. He took DS the other day, but DS got dizzy and nauseated from the 3D and they had to leave before they were even half way through the movie. So now he needs to go back.

I'm so jealous of people who's children sleep in cribs for so long. We had to transition to a toddler bed at just over a year old because my monkey spawn kept climbing over and out

FIL is a different sort of pickle. My MIL's main thing is her house....everything has to be perfect in her house. With my FIL, it's the garden. He can't understand how I would rather read a book than go out and weed the garden. He LOVES to be outside and he doesn't burn. I burn really easily, so I don't particularly like to be outside, and I have hay fever, so sitting outside burning to a crisp and sneezing constantly is not enjoyable....reading a book for my FIL is just about as pleasant for him as working in the garden would be for me. The difference being that I understand and accept that that's his hobby and he loves it, whereas he just keeps trying to change my mind. He sees reading as unproductive and being lazy, where I see it is engaging my brain, and working in the garden is pretty useless...I don't have flowers because I have no green thumb and I know I won't go outside to tend to them if I had them, so I don't have them. So both of them are pretty...assertive? about the way they like things to be. Though my FIL had to give up his veggie plot now and can't do his gardening because of the brain bleed he had in like...June. He's SOOOOO shaky now and very weak. He suddenly seems very very old, though he's really not. So I guess he's mellowed in the last 6 months because he can't do the things himself anymore. And I think also, they hadn't realized how hard it's been for us with DS until everything happened in September/October, and now he's more understanding of how we prioritized time. They see the huge change in DS now and are just starting to realize all we have dealt with since he was little, since no one seemed to be able to see the issues but me. Now that he is getting help, he's changed completely and they see now that I really needed help with him that I wasn't getting. They still see it as being lazy to want to have a PJ day and read, but they aren't as judgmental about the parenting decisions. Pickles, yes...but we develop coping skills to deal with the pickle moments...you shoveling snow, me going to the grocery store...just a chance to step out of the situation for a few minutes...or hours.

Yep my Moms and my former driveway were very long and wide. Could take 30 minutes or 2 hours depending on the depth. I stayed outside almost an hour on Christmas Eve, it gave me time to regroup and time to just ignore her comments. She is a chatty cathy right now in her life. She loves to tell stories that are more private family stuff or stuff about when kids were growing up. She tells things to neighbors, friends, extended family and she embellishes and sometimes like on Christmas Eve told a story about me that was flat out not true. I really need to corner her when nobody is around and explain that she might enjoy telling stories about the kids or me, sis and her family to the entire world but it isn't fun for us especially when it isn't true. For whatever reason she is happiest in a group when she is telling a story that embarrasses someone there. We met my God Mother out at the Cheesecake Factory along with her daughter who is a couple years older than me. My Godmother and her DD have always had a rocky relationship at best. So my Mom starts telling stories about my cousins childhood and stories that she would have never known if my Mom wasn't trying to get a rise out of the two of them. My Godmother finally said why would you tell her all this??? My Mom said its true! I wanted to hide under the table. My Mom use to limit these story times to talking about my Dad in front of him or loudly so he would hear. Now that he is gone we are all fair game. This wasn't her until about 10 years ago. It is age related and boredom but it isn't pleasant. She has lost her filter and sad.

FYI my FIL had a brain bleed. They told us flat out he wouldn't make it or he'd be a veggie. He did make it and fully recovered didn't remember 2 weeks of his life or who we were for about a month but aside from a balance thing-needed a cane he fully recovered after about a year and lived 9 more years. He was a sweetie pie until the day he died.

And me I love being outdoors. I plant summer plants and flowers and at one time had 4 veggie plots, and whittled them down to two over the years. Playing with my plants was always my sanctuary. My chill time. I read at night when the misquotes came out.
