Wow. Sorry to hear that. Years ago we had a package stolen from the front porch. It was my Christmas present, and the only thing I asked hubs to get for me. No Christmas present under the tree for me that year. :( Yes, people do suck.
USPS decided that instead of putting my boxes on the porch like other delivery companies they put them on the ground under my mailbox .....which is way out by the road at the end of my drive. One mucky box on bottom and anyone driving by could have picked them up. You can't see my mailbox from my house. I called the postmaster and all USPS boxes have been put on porch since then.

I'm here. Disney buying Fox and I couldn't help but coming to read the comments. Apparently Wall Street likes it.

But no tree and I'm almost at the point where I apply for schools to get my masters, I think. Overseas is cheaper than schools like Bentley (45K) even with the exchange rate.

:hilarious: My aunt came this Thanksgiving but no crazy plates this year. But snow the past couple days even if it's only one inch at a time.

PS - I apologize but I'm not reading the 100 pages or so that I'm behind. It's too much.
The UK has some good programs and still cheaper than the US. I hope you find something that works for you.

We will see about next year, all we have heard back from them besides the initial texts from one of there husbands and the flights is silence. No word from the sisters. One of there kids got into a car accident on Wednesday (we saw a post on Facebook about it) and hubby texted the girl and his sister right away. I expressed relief that the girl was ok on Facebook as well as hubs, still nothing back from the sister (brads niece texted him back thanking him for his concern on her accident). Oh well that's their problem I guess.
I don't mean to be disrespectful but those sisters sound very manipulative and selfish. I hope your husband's can see this and not feel guilty or upset. I like the saying " You can't change people only your response to them."

Good morning!
I'd like to learn how people feel about the seemingly fading tradition of mailing Christmas Cards. I HAVE CREATED A SEPARATE THREAD on this topic.... it's on the Chit Chat home page. Please consider going over to that thread to share your thoughts.
I tried asking on THIS thread last night, but after one hour no one responded. I saw post after post appear beyond my question and after the one hour mark I went back to my question and edited it ....reducing it to a simple "good night".
Anyway....good morning friends...and please "visit" my independent Chit Chat thread on Christmas Cards.
Thank You!
:)
Not everyone is caught up with the current posts that are being posted in this thread. Like I'm catching up from 50 pages behind because of the holidays. You need a bit of patience. :) On that note, I send out and hand out a lot of cards but from some people I don't expect one in return. The spirit of giving. It's an "I'm thinking of you" thing for me.

A separate thread will also get you others posters than in this thread to voice their opinions.

And I hate Facebook.

That's one thing I really wish would change in the military. We're so focused on taking care of the job and completing the mission that we fail at taking care of our bodies a lot of the time. I have tendonitis in both ankles because I had stress fractures in both ankles and refused to take time away from my work to go to sick call.
Not to sound heroic, because I am anything but that, I was in a war zone and it happened during a rocket/mortar attack in the middle of the night. That would be an injury incurred in the line of hostile activity and would have been qualified for a Purple Heart. Since they didn't have a way of altering that to become a Purple Toe, I didn't seek medical care and within a few days it stopped hurting and has not bothered me since then. Those Purple things were meant for real heroes, I didn't qualify and therefore didn't want to be awarded a Purple Heart for stubbing my toe while running for shelter during hostile activities. It would be embarrassing and more then that would have taken away the importance that honor has for those that truly deserved the acknowledgement. I did not!

Well it sounds like the niece is a well-adjusted person, despite her parents. Is that the one who was embarrassed by her parents' reactions to the graduation gifts?

Yep, they all break down. The Peoplemover and Space Ranger Spin have always been the rides that broke down tthe most for us. We did have to walk off SSE once and Winnie the Pooh. Walking off of that one was very cool in my opinion. The CM was very adamant about us staying close to the track. Me, I sooo wanted to wander in there. ;):D:p
We had to walk off Peoplemover once and were stuck on Haunted Mansion for ten minutes in the graveyard scene with the lights on and no sound. That was awesome.

Christmas jumper day here in the UK
I have to laugh, because apparently the trend here in the Netherlands this year is ugly Christmas sweaters. And the reason I have to laugh is because when I moved here, my MIL was SO embarrassed by my Christmas sweater, because apparently NO Dutch person would EVER wear something like that.:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: And she is all about trends...maybe I should buy her one for Christmas...

I broke my little toe when I was in Vietnam. I was running toward a bunker and hit something really hard. I never did anything about it except use some fairly colorful language. It doesn't bother me at all today but it does have a pretty distinctive turn to the left.
My son broke his big toe when he was 4. He was playing and stepped on a piece of paper, which slid on the wood floors and he slammed his toe into a bookcase. Of course, we didn't realize it was fractured. He was screaming bloody murder, but he ALWAYS screamed bloody murder, even when he wasn't really hurt, so we couldn't tell. When he still wouldn't walk by the end of the day, we took him to the doctor, who looked and said she couldn't be SURE, but it MIGHT be fractured. She said to leave it and see if he had trouble sleeping, and she gave us a referral for an X-ray just in case. We ended up having to leave a party early and take him to the ER in the middle of the night to get the x-ray, and yep...broken. Poor kid. But they taped it up and said to give him paracetamol. That's all they could do for him. I've never broken a bone, but I did stub my toe and knock the toenail off my pinky toe. I called the doc, but they couldn't do anything for it, either. So I bandaged it, and walked around with a thick, but very loose sock on for a few weeks because I couldn't get a shoe on. Toes are just not something they can do much with.

Mortar attacks are interesting to go through. We got mortared so often that by the end of my deployment we didn't even seek cover. It was just... a part of life.

I'm glad you made it home safely. And thank you for your service. Vietnam vets don't get thanked enough.

Heroism comes in many forms. That you served at all could be considered Heroism, so thank you for your sacrifices. You may not feel like a hero, but you are a hero in the eyes of many, injured or not, and it doesn't matter how the injury happened.

I finished up my Christmas shopping at the Dollar Store today. They have the greatest supply of candy, and Christmas essentials. My side of the family Christmas get together is this coming Sunday, and my husband's side of the family comes on Christmas Eve. I bought gift bags, instead of wrapping paper, so now I am all set. Cheyenne got a lot of great stuff for her little cousins. It's so much fun shopping for the little ones. Cheyenne is my grandson's girlfriend, and I am getting pretty attached to having her around.
Dollar Tree here is good for that. My daughter took some money she earned and bought a "thank you for coming" gift for everyone that is coming here for Christmas Eve. She bought her own wrapping paper too.
