I think this happens in a lot of jobs, it certainly is the case in the hospital. Many of the people in my field who started when i did, are now supervisors. They ask me when I'm going to become one and I tell them I actually like patient care. That is why we became respiratory therapists and nurses: to take care of people no?

Where I work, the RNs generally stay with patient care. However, the percentage drops a bit as they enter their late 40s and up. The reason is that their own chances of physical injuries (back problems, etc.) from moving and assisting patients can catch up with them. So then you tend to see more of them enter administrative and research fields. Quite a few will do maybe half admin., and half direct patient care. As you know, some patient care is not physical, but still needs qualified RNs. Some of the older nurses enjoy triaging, patient check-in, and discharge, follow-up, etc. That way, they still stay in touch with direct care, but it's not physically demanding. :) (I'm not as familiar with the resp. therapists; although I do know that some of them are into research, and may also do a half and half schedule, similar to some of the older nurses.)

Ours. They could give me vertigo if I watched them. :hungover:

They're a mixed blessing. A few years ago, I remember watching a news story about a town that put these in, and they weren't far from homes in the area. They filmed from the inside of one person's livingroom and during the daytime hours, this poor woman had (through her picture window) alternating streaks of light, and then long dark shadows for when the 3 blades would move. It was enough to make you dizzy. I think there was also a low noise associated with them as well. All the residents were up in arms over it, and finally, they had most of these removed. (They were also complaining about how their property values were sinking, as a direct result of these things.) I think that companies that make these (and the people who buy them), need to be very careful where they place these behemoths in relation to residential areas.

They never talk about the number of birds killed by those things - including the number of federally protected or threatened or endangered species....

Wow. So Lenovo KNEW that some machines were affected and didn't even notify the buyers of their computers, or put out some sort of general alert/notification? I hope they get sued.
They put out an alert on their website, but they've known about this since January and didn't do anything. They also didn't send an email or some sort of notification to those who had affected machines registered with them, like me.

I'm pretty irritated with the way that they've handled it. I like my Lenovo, but not sure I trust the company anymore, so I'm not sure if I'll get another computer from them.

This type of thing happens all the time. I used to be in the computer business. I partnered with Microsoft to have rights to a version of Windows that was exclusively available for certified Microsoft OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) companies like mine called Windows Media Center Edition. Microsoft was very much aware of many problems with their software and offered "work arounds" for its partners. We were contracted not to tell our customers about the defects of their software. The worse part was when Vista came out and how it was more buggy that the first beta version of XP. Apple is doing the same practice now. iOS 8 is more buggy than any of the beta version of pervious iOS versions.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I love musicals, but didn't really like Grease. I turned it off about halfway through and never finished it.
@donaldtoo's wife and I are presumably just a few years apart in age. Grease was the movie of our teen/tween years. For years I used to brag that I had seen it 7 times at the show/drive-in. (You know, until Titanic slightly eclipsed that number with 18! big screen viewings.)

Even after I moved out, I always returned to my parent's home for Christmas Eve. My three brothers and I would sleep in their king-sized waterbed and watch Grease; sometimes more than once. This was a tradition for at least 10-15 years, continuing right up until I got married.

I used to love John Travolta, before he got fat, weird, and old.
We've had our caricatures done at DTD a couple of times. Apparently the artist, Charles, thinks Hubby looks like Travolta. I'll attach pics later, and you can tell me if you agree.

I know (my mother is a year and a half older than you, believe me, she explained it). It was kind of like High School Musical was for me, ya know, minus the drugs and the sex.

The plot of Grease bothered me, though. John Travolta's character was kind of a jerk, and then at the end, Sandy abandons all of her moral values to get the guy. What kind of message is that? And then there was, of course, the drugs and the sex.

There were definitely better movies from the 70s.
