Thanks! :)
Yes, we always try to make sure the stairs are not something half your body will fall up if you happen to trip over the threshold...! ;)

We actually do many homes with "back" stairs out of the way in family areas, these days.
We also do a lot of elevators, or stacked storage closets that can be easily converted into an elevator shaft in the future. :)

ETA...
I'll post pics of my final CAD preliminary presentation of main, upper, and lower levels tomorrow. :)
Our stairs are on the side of our family room. The only issue I have with that is that the people who built the house didn't take into account that they would be losing 3 plus feet of width away from the family room. They should have widened the room out by 3 feet for the stairwell. Also wish that the staircase was wider. Overall the house layout is ok. Just think the dimensions on our first floor should have been wider. Not like there isn't enough land. We're almost on an acre. Three feet. That is all I ask.;) But if dh gets what he wants we won't be here forever. He is looking to head south somewhere. South of Virginia. Better be the last move though.I hate moving.:banghead::banghead:
Many years ago, I once approached our front door in total darkness, and all of a sudden I'm being hissed at...HOLY EXPLETIVE, BATMAN!!!!!!!
Well, I couldn't just let it sit there...DWifey would freak if she even knew it was ever there in the first place. :cyclops:
I opened the garage door, grabbed a pair of thick leather work gloves, and one of a few of those empty 5 gal. plastic paint buckets with metal handles that we had. I used my flip phone for light, cornered it, scooped it up in the bucket and slapped the lid on. Then I ran like heck to drop it over the fence into the retention pond area nearby (it was on the bank and clear of any water...it only dropped about 6 ft.) over the fence. Heart racing...wasn't so much scared of the possum, just the surprise, and knowing that DWifey didn't need to know anything about this... :cautious: :cyclops: ;)
:hilarious::hilarious:

I think 3mpg might be on the generous side, but that was in the 80s, so I was using quarters to get a coupla' gallons at a time, lmao!!!

I got a small preview of what my 11-year-old son's voice is going to sound like when it changes...holy bananas, that was scary and weird!
My son turned 14 in August. His voice started changing sometime earlier this year. It was very cracky in the summer. My neighbor's daughter who is a year older started giggling when she heard him talk. Now it is so much more adult. It makes me sad that I cannot remember his little boy voice.:( Good thing we have videos from the past.

We're getting those low temps here later today, too. Finally, winter is coming! :inlove:
Well then you will love the long range forecast. By me I don't see any temps even close to 60. Mostly upper 40's. That is probably too warm for you though.;) But then it should be colder in Boston than here in southern PA.:)
It's cold at least it is now, so yeah you'd live it. My hotel is by the Mall of America so I will probably wander around there tonight.
Have a safe and very warm trip! Jealous.:):)

Finally is right! I thought it would never happen and sending some pixie dust they sell quickly!
Well, we've had a buyer lined up, BUT, I hope he's still interested. When dad died, there were 32 or 33 head on his ranch...but one of his " friends" claimed that 10 were his that he bought from dad in January but dad wanted to keep them on the ranch until May. But he claimed he had already paid, and that he paid cash for them and that dad didn't put the money in a bank because he didn't want " Uncle Sam" to take a cut. The thing is my dad kept METICULOUS records and there is no record anywhere of a sale, and my dad wasn't the sort to avoid paying taxes, etc...so I have a hard time believing that. Add that in to someone warning me that this guy has a bad reputation for underhanded business deals, and I just don't trust him. Plus, the offer he made for the rest of the cattle was like HALF the value for regular cows, let alone PREGNANT cows, which most of them were. So now they have all calved and instead of having 32 or 33 head, we have like 70. So the guy my brother found who was interested may well have decided it's taking too long, or that he doesn't have a need for 70 cows, etc. Who knows. I HOPE he'll still take them, even if he only pays us for the original 32-33...I just want it DONE!! At this point, I just want to make enough in the sale of everything to pay all the costs of the lawyer, the insurance, etc. Just let me get everything paid off and I am good.

With people being who they are I would never stop for people
Ah, but I'm guessing you aren't from Wyoming. It's something that freaks most people out, but we grow up with that...you have to remember, distances in Wyoming are HUGE. For us to go to the movies, it was a 40 mile drive. That was the closest town to us. The closest town in the other direction was Bill...population 7. And if you actually wanted to go to a town in that direction that consisted of more than a gas station/bar and a school, it was 75 miles. Plus, towns are generally so small, you know pretty much everyone in town and a lot of people in OTHER towns, because of school sports/activities. It's generally pretty safe. When I headed to my dad's ranch in April to clean out his house, his neighbor who hadn't seen me since I was 4 or 5 flagged us down on the road...he didn't recognize the vehicle, so he figured it was probably me or my brother. Even in college, there was a guy who came into the dorms with a head wound...I didn't know him, but he was bleeding and couldn't get ahold of his friend (who I knew) to take him to the hospital. So I gave him a ride...it was 2 am. My husband (boyfriend at the time) was over here in the Netherlands and totally freaked out at the idea of giving a stranger a ride to the hospital in the middle of the night. I dropped him off and came back to the dorms. No biggie. But because everyone knows everyone, you usually know SOMEONE in common, so you could track them down if you needed to. The guy who picked us up in high school and took us to my dad's was a " neighbor" of my dad's. (being out in the country, "neighbor" is a bit of a relative term...they lived several miles from my dad, but were one of the closest ranches and we went to school with their kids, though their kids had already graduated by that time) It's really not as dangerous as it would be in a more populated place.

That's a great idea! I think daughter has read my posts or son in law, everyone is co operating right now. I'm glad that things are working out on both sides. We love both of our "kids", son-in -law and daughter, and our grand kids....we just want peace and happiness for everyone. I hope daughter finds a mate to fit her, and son-in-law a person to fit him too. We learned a lot from our doggies....they teach you unconditional love. It was a wonderful lesson for us. I'm sure many pets teach those who are willing to learn, dogs, cats, @Mr Ferret88, etc.
I'm so glad everyone is getting along now. As a kid who grew up with parents who couldn't stand each other, I wish we wouldn't have been in the middle of that. It would have been nice if the adults could have acted like grown-ups and communicated with each other and put us first instead of using us to punish each other. It's so nice that you can sort of broker peace between the Son-in-law and your daughter...no matter how they feel about each other, I'm sure you can all agree that you love the boys and want what's best for THEM.

Loved your jokes. So sorry Friday was so horrible. Take care of yourself and talk and talk and talk to someone with compassion. That is a tragic and disturbing situation. I hope you are getting over this. When my dad passed, we were at his bedside and it wasn't easy to watch. An accident is so much more to deal with, it is so unexpected. Take care...and prayers coming your way.
I am very blessed...my husband came home from work that day and took care of all the logistical things...picking up DS from his school, making dinner, etc, so I could just process and not stress. And we have talked about it a lot, too. And apparently some of my coworkers saw my picture in the paper talking to the policeman, and they asked about it, so I got to talk about it a lot and get it out of my system. It was horrible, but I have a great support system on here, and at home.

Dear Lord how much does a drivers license cost here in The Netherlands?
Several thousand when all is said and done. You can't learn by yourself over here...you have to take lessons from an acredited instructor and those cost upwards of 50 euros per hour. Now, I already know how to drive, but I DON'T know how to drive a manual transmission, plus there are some different rules. So while I wouldn't have to start from scratch like some people, I would still need quite a bit of training....the testing is so much more strict here, most people fail at least once. I think the written theory test is something like 500 euros to take, and then the practical. So somewhere between 2000 and 4000 Euros.

Ugh...I hate moving, too. If we ever win big in the lottery, I'll just buy a house in Wyoming so we have a place to stay when we visit, and I'll just take more frequent Disney trips. I don't need to MOVE...just have some get-aways.

Wait, WHAT??? That is nuts! So even if you have a US license, they won't honor it? I guess it keeps people on their bikes, which is probably their intention. Charge an arm and a leg for something and people will be less apt to do it.

I fly out on Saturday morning. I am staying over in Minneapolis tomorrow night so I don't have to get up at 3am to get to the airport and hubs can't drive me. I am finally all caught up on work and I'm getting pretty excited! I do plan on taking lots of pictures, so don't worry! Thanks for the safe travels wishes.

Wooohooooooo...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
