My dh is the king of thatView attachment 226724(I do that.)
We don't. When we first moved here, we lived with my in-laws and we had a couple of ducks and chickens, but not really pets, per se. But over here, you have to pay a tax on every pet you have...I have enough to take care of with just the kids, and we are all gone so much that I wouldn't feel right about leaving a dog at home alone, but would have nowhere else to leave it. And I'm not a cat person in general. I don't mind them, but I prefer the cuddly, happy-to-see-you animals, which cats usually are not. It's just not conducive to our lifestyle right now. Both my husband and I work, the kids have school, DS has therapy, DD has music, DS has chess, I have choir, we go to my in-laws' almost every weekend...it just wouldn't be fair to a pet.And I wonder why these life events come in clusters. Jeepers. I'm sorry you went through that too.
I didn't let Walt get quite to that point but I did know when it was time as rough as that decision was. Coupled with my Dad just before and we had to also make that call of humanity too, ugh...life is rough at times. Makes you hold those close though that you love. Life is too short for the other 'first world' crisis' of the day. We have warm and fuzzies happening with our Illinoisans, helping those with special needs across the board up here, the weekend for that along with boatloads of support for those in Texas who need our love and support. It has helped me get through the weekend of memories doing good. Checks and balances.
Do you guys have pets? I can't recall.![]()
Hey, it's free refrigeration in the cold weather! (if it's not frozen)I don't know why, but I found this funny! When Gabe wants a glass of water, she goes out to her truck!![]()

I look at it pretty realistically. For one, every other week, we hear about something else that is dangerous...often something that was thought to be healthy before...or is still beneficial for some things and dangerous for others. I'm trying to be more healthy, BUT I also realize that things change, so I'm not overly worried about trying to avoid everything that MIGHT possibly cause cancer. It will just make you crazy trying to figure out what's good and what's not. My mom died of breast cancer as did both of my grandmothers, and all the female relatives have had breast cancer, and my grandpa and uncle died of lung cancer and my other grandpa died of a stroke, which I THINK is probably also what happened to my dad. I'm pretty much guaranteed to get breast cancer, though I haven't bothered to get the genetic marker test for it...but basically my philosophy is to just do my self exams, have the tests every couple of years, and just stay on top of it so it can be caught early and I can get treatment before it's too late. You can't always prevent it from happening, but if you are prepared for it, hopefully it won't be as bad as it could. And as you said no one can live forever.Got news for you---no matter what world anyone has lived in, or presently lives in -- we all die eventually!![]()

You're half correct -- sleep in chilly, live in chilly!![]()

Is it unusual for it to be that chilly this time of year? I ask because in Wyoming, it could snow in August already, so it wouldn't have really struck me. We were married in September, and my in-laws called the week before to ask what they should pack and we told them it was snowing, so they packed all warm clothing. Then they got there and it was 80 degrees.Last night I heard a noise in the middle of the night and I could not figure out what the heck it was. My furnace kicked on for the first time since April. It's only September 3rd!![]()
It's what I call my chest of drawers, except it has three bottom drawers and then doors that open to a cabinet section. The cabinet is where Jasmine got herself stuck.I think I'm having a brain fart...what is a door chest? You know what they say....curiosity killed the cat! She sounds like she's a handful...though a pretty adorable and entertaining one.
Before I forget AGAIN, DD and I started our Minnie Mouse ears project for our DLP trip in October. We started with our least favorite materials, because...learning curve. SOOOO glad we did that. We only have 4 sets made so far, so we have more, but we discovered the wider bands are SOOOO much easier to do, so I need to see if I can get more of those.

How do you lose boots??? We always put a string on the mittens and put them through the sleeves so they couldn't lose them. My daughter LOVES the snow. I think it was in January, we got more snow at one time than I'd ever seen here and there was a MASSIVE snowball fight at school. It was AWESOME. The kids were having a BLAST...there were very few who chose to go inside, and the teachers let them stay out extra long in the morning to play because they so seldom get to play in the snow. So instead of starting at 8:30, they let the kids play until about 8:45 before going in. It was great to see them all playing together and having so much fun.Boots and Mittens mean nothing to kids. They are only objects to lose.
Amen to that! Although, I would rather it just didn't hit ANY land. But certainly not Texas at the moment...pretty sure Louisiana doesn't need it, either now that they are finally back on their feet.I'm praying it doesn't do some funky track and go into the Gulf of Mexico. No more rain towards Texas Mother Nature!
Happy Mother's Independence Day!!Good morning, no make that a great morning, first full day of school and the champagne is getting popped in 5, 4, 3,2 and the first bus just pulled up![]()
I have no idea...just that it's a yearly tax. I want to say around 50 euros per pet, but I'm not sure. A couple years ago, some guy from the city came to the door because they had gotten a report that we had pets that we hadn't paid tax on. I don't know if he had the wrong house (our neighborhood is confusing...wouldn't be the first time someone went to the wrong address) or if someone was playing a prank or maybe had some sort of beef with us. But he came to the door and asked how many pets we had and I was like...um...zero. And he's like "Are you sure? We got a report that you have a couple of dogs." What do you mean, "am I sure?" Like I wouldn't know whether I had pets?Get that!
How much is the tax on a pet? Around?
Thanks! We're still learning, so there's room for improvement, but we think they are pretty cute and we won't be embarrassed to wear them. Hopefully it gets a bit better with every pair we make so that by the time we get to the really good material, they will be awesome. The ears look good.
