Hi! I'm a modern woman, too, but just think differently from your comments above. But, that's what modern women do; we think for ourselves. ;)

Again, this is why WDW is a place for everyone, because there is variety in their attractions. Personally, I like both old and new, and feel there is a place for many different experiences. Sure, I love the older, exceptionally well-themed rides (to share one of @englanddg 's comments--flying over London . . . ahhh . . . just love that!). Peter Pan, Snow White (RIP, SW), and some others are immersive gems. I never get tired of them; I look forward to them.

Many other people love only the newer tech rides (whether at WDW or Universal), and that's o.k. for them. In conclusion, I think that themeparks have a place for all of us, regardless of our tastes.
Post of the day.

Yea, since we've never been there for any longer than a week, we like to stay as immersed in the "Magic" as is reasonably possible, for us. "Cheesy" theming and all, if that's what it takes, even though we don't spend that much time at the resort, and the DTD Hilton has better for similar price.
DWifey and I stayed at Pop on a "just the two of us" trip back in Dec. of '08 for our 20th wedding anniversary, and it was just fine. We've also stayed in family suites at Music twice, on family trips, and in a family suite at AoA in the Cars section (which, imo, the Cars section, anyway, is very well-themed) on another family trip. Have never had any issues with the beds at any of the values, that I remember, but, then again, I'd sleep on a deck chair out by the pool for the night, if they'd let me. ;)

Speakin' of AoA, isn't that place considered a "moderate" now with the way the prices have gone up...? o_O
Same here. We like the values for the same reason. For us, the money put out for a Deluxe room means less days on vacation. Besides, "cheesy" equals :).

So...my day.

Woke up, still had yesterday's migraine.
Came out, found car with a low tire, had to put more air in the tire before heading off to class.
Hit a ton of traffic, was late to class, no thanks to that tire.
Still had the migraine.
Got to chorus (at around 12:15), walked through cloud of perfume, stopped breathing
After a failed nebulizer treatment, security called 911, got to ride in ambulance
Still at the emergency room, though I am once again breathing. I'm hoping to get out of here this evening
And the migraine is still there, my car is at school, and it took forever to even get in touch with my mom (who is still not here).
I missed Spanish class. And chorus.

This is not my day. Or week.
Sympathy like. Feel better!

Sorry, I think we are talking about two different things. The interpreters that Disney contracts to come in and do shows, tours, etc. are very good. The two interpreters in the video you posted are excellent and it took them many years to reach that level. They also had to practice that performance a lot to have it down so well.

My comment was about front line CMs. Disney may or may not teach them some basic signs. I don't know. My point is that if Disney does or if they know some on their own that doesn't make them interpreters. While helpful for some basic park directions and assistance, working out dinner reservations or explaining what went wrong in the process would be difficult.

The contracted terps are good though. I've known and worked with some.

I talked to my DS today. While he has never been assigned to the parks or resorts his friends are. Off hand he knows the CMs at the parks in guest relations are certified. Disney Casting as part of their own process has the new hires test out with them to prove their certification skills are still up to standards. They do the same with CMs that are tagged as foreign language interpreters he has said. It doesn't not appear on their tag until they test out. My DS said he has never seen a foreign language or ASL interpreter not have superior skills or witnessed any official ASL interpreter signing letters or pointing to a bathroom. Like I said my DS can hold his own but never has claimed to be an ASL interpreter nor does his tag state anything about ASL.

I'm playing Tag with my friend that is a CM, not a contract but an employee to see what she had to do to demonstrate her ASL skills to Casting and to find out if Disney is training their own ASL interpreters. My understanding is they come to Disney with these skills (she came certified) and that is what my DS seems to think too however I have nothing to back that up until telephone tag ends.

Oh Dear. I am so sorry. {{{HUGS}}} Happy you are breathing again and hope you get to go home. What school were you at?

My Day is not going well today either, waiting to see what the grand total of my unexpected truck repairs is going to be but now that is put into perspective. I maybe car-less at the moment but I can breathe. Thanks for the reality check, Be Well.

Sooooooo cold ....

View attachment 82854

All temps in F - without windchill.

I need a beach, a book, and temps above 80!

Sympathy like. We are at 13 with a feels like -2. We are supposed to get your real bitter cold by the weekend. Figures because I will be on a train to the lake front on Saturday. Maybe all the other bodies making the pilgrimage to Chicago for Valentines Day will warm up the lakefront. ;)

Before anyone feels the need to judge, we just took our tree down last week. The decorations were off at New Years leaving only strands of pink beads. :) Yup, you are not alone.

I have a friend that has all sorts of variously colored trees including pink, her Valentines Christmas tree, even has a black one for Halloween.

My school. They released me about an hour ago. Thankfully when I need to go to the ER, my doctor has it figured out what to do so that I can get in and out of there quickly. He thought about it two years ago and it works wonders, but the problem is that it has to be administered at an ER.

So six hours, 40 mg of oral steroids, two nebulizer treatments, and one heliox treatment (similar to nebulizer, but with helium) later, I can breath. At least no IVs.

And I still have a migraine.

Oh, and this was the other fun part: could not get in contact with my parents. Tried calling Mom ten times on her cell phone. Sent her a text on her iPad and her phone and tried the house phone four or five times. After they put me in the ambulance, security got in touch with her. Then when I got to the hospital, I had to ask for a phone because there was no cell phone signal, and then I was able to call her. There was no sense in calling Dad. If I called his office, no one would be able to understand me over the phone when I can barely breath, and the man won't answer his phone.:banghead: If I had been thinking clearly, would have called my aunt, but asthma inhibits my ability to think clearly.

The internet (news, etc) is reporting that the Magic Kingdom will go up to $105 dollars a day. Multiply day passes are probably going up as well.

O.k. I know I shouldn't be surprised, but $105 is really making me pause . . . :cautious: It will be interesting to see what they charge for the multi-day tickets, too. Mostly, I feel sad for families getting hit with prices over the $100 mark now.

So sorry to hear about your day. Breathing issues can be scary; sounds like the ER doc took good care of you. That's what we all really care about here, and I think I can speak for everyone: we're glad you're safely at home now and on the mend. I hope that sleep tonight will help alleviate the leftover migraine.
