Good morning all! I haven't been taking the dog for any walks since we got back from Florida. Part of me was lazy and it was hot here. I think the dog has been a little peeved at me for not taking her for walks. Anyway, last night I told her to wake me up early if she wanted to go for a walk. Sure enough 6 am rolled around and she gave me a couple nudges (she never does this) so we snuggled for a bit and then I got ready to take her for a walk. Well, she was so excited she pooped out about 3 blocks into the walk. So I had to stand in the shade with her and wait for her to catch her second wind. She is such a strange but wonderful pup. We finished our normal walk and I have one happy little schnauzer today.

@Gabe1 I think lack of Coke on your shelves at Target was part of a perfect storm of sorts. Sale prices, and the specter of a looming new beverage tax in C(r)ook County. (For those not in the know, .01 cents per ounce). We were given a reprieve of sorts, but I know a lot of people started stock piling the stuff, before it got tied up in court.

Could be. But that was just my example of the week. It is everything-they stock little yet advertise in weekly fliers. Various make-ups can be missing for a month but it is the flier.

We are not in Cook County so the beverage tax won't hit us until we step foot in the cities within Cook. I really wonder if this is going to ever pass.
It is a tax but the state doesn't want it to be broken out as a tax they want the price to just be raised, that is being challenged. The fairness is also being challenged as who is exempt, Starbucks was given as an example that they will be exempt. Then it appears by the law as written there would be no free refills because it is per ounce dispensed.

Plus it is wildly unpopular how the state is targeting just one aspect of the food industry and not all of the beverage industry. I can't see this version holding up.

I was honestly really surprised!! We noticed the allergy when a pizza place gave us green olives instead of black. The first thing we did was go through the fridge and Mark everything that has it in there, and the only condiments we had left that she could eat were ketchup and mustard, lol. We've since found teryake sauce and BBQ sauce without sodium benzoate, but I was floored.

Honestly I can't remember the chemical but it is in chewing gum. My DD went through buckling over stomach pains. Doc couldn't find anything, allergist could not to cause that type of debilitating pain. She was fine and then buckling. I saw it happen at the table where she was doing homework.
It was the freak'n chewing gum. She stopped chewing gum. Months later when in the Doc's office he was surprised we had figured it out but also relieved 'cause we were getting nowhere with all the Doc's.

Okay, I just had the strangest and terrifying experience and now my heart rate has come down a little. Kapono and I were sitting on the porch and I was on my computer working on my trip report here and editing my personal trip journal when I saw what looked like a bird hit the outside of the screen, then fall. No big deal right, birds hit windows....then it popped up and attached itself to the screen and I thought that was strange so I looked up and it was a bat attached to the outside of the screen!! A bat! During the day!

(Disclaimer I really hate bats, they freak me out, I can't even look at pictures of them and at Animal Kingdom during the Maharajah Jungle trek I literally run through the building that has them with my head down. And I don't run ever, but I want to see the tigers there.)

So I start flipping out and start hyperventilating. And grab the flyswatter to smack the screen to get it to move, but before I can smack it flies off. It flew off towards our neighbors tree across the street. But not before I see its weird body splayed out, and now I'm super freaked out. It's not good to see them during the day right?! I texted hubby, who is down in Illinois to do a friends wedding, and he said it is just a freak thing. I know he is probably right but I'm still freaked out.

Sorry to rant, and thanks for letting me.:jawdrop:

I'd probably call animal control on this. It could be a freak thing, or it could be rabid. They'd at least want to log the incident in case something else of note happens in the area.

Thank you for huggies. :)

But, no half day for me. Actually, we've been also having some mega computer issues at work, and the tech guys have been trouble-shooting issues in my office, for the past two days. It's put us way behind in our work, on a short week to begin with. (Think I have some sort of black cloud hanging over me for the past two weeks?! ;) )

Welcome to the Dollhouse. :banghead:

Ewe. Don't like any rodents, well except @Mr Ferret 88 They all creek freak me out.

Yeah Bats are nocturnal but they do fly at times during the day, usually when they awakened from where they normally reside. He maybe looking for a new home if displaced.

That story made my heart rate go up too. {{{HUGS}}}

I don't think our little village has animal control. I once called the cops once because I found a lost dog while on a walk, and even though I had just seen the cop sitting in his car at the corner a few minutes prior to my call, he seemed really put out that he had to come get the dog.

Thanks, I don't like any rodents either (except @Mr Ferret 88 ) but bats freak me out the most.

Look on the DNR web site. Seems if there might be a problem, someone would want to know. Just looked at the site, and they have different places to report for rabies. Make sure your pup is up to date, just in case!
(PS, I also hate bats. I went in the "bat cave" once at a local zoo, and told they won't bother you. Baloney! Darn thing buzzed me, clipped my ear, and no more bats for me. I also have a freaky story about a bat from my college days, but that is for another time.)

There are a lot of things about this one that doesn't sit well on the books. I am kind of hoping that now there is a budget (Can you believe it?), maybe they can let this one go.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into that. Kapono just had her rabies shot last year. But I think I will be inspecting the yard when she goes outside, I'll take a broom with me. And if you do share your bat story, warn me or put it in a spoiler when posting. ;)

Welcome back @ajrwdwgirl . :) Can't wait to read about your trip. :)I am so far behind on this thread now. Will have lots of ketchup to do.

Had a community yard sale this weekend. I am so not equipped for these things.
Lady: " How much do you want for this?" (It was a kids skort.) I said $1(It was Gymboree.) She said, "I will give you $1 for both." (2 skorts). This was me. In my head I was thinking, "Are you kidding me? :banghead::banghead::banghead: It is Gymboree and in great shape". But what I said was "Sure, no problem." In the end I realized that I really didn't want to take the stuff home.

Today is also my 18th wedding anniversary! :):):)

Yea, that's always the "fun" part of having a garage sale...repacking all the stuff that didn't sell. But, all that nice cash usually makes up for it...! ;)

And, a belated congrats on y'all's 18th wedding anni.!!! :)
DWifey and I will be celebrating our 29th in Dec....! :)

When we were younger bats would come down our chimney. I remember opening the doors and and a few windows then being armed with a broom until we could get it out of the house. Same with random birds.
