Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
To anyone who's interested, (including @donaldtoo ) there is a NEW Xtreme Waterparks episode tonight on the Travel Channel. Unfortunately, for me, it's on at 10:00 PM, which is too late. But that's Eastern Time -- other time zones may see it earlier, so check your TV guide. (I know they'll repeat it at some point down the road.)

Blah. I read this too late. I'll have to watch for it again or DVR it.

Just curious--about body suits--are you referring to the suits that scuba divers wear?

No. Not at all. They are special suits that are proven to assist veterans that were paralyzed during service to walk with the aid of the suits. Letterman came on board with this at the tail end and he gives credit to all those that developed it. He has made it his mission and cause to get major corporations to rethink what they donate to. He wants this for every veteran than lost use of their bodies during service. He acknowledges the need to shoot things into space but looks at the needs of those here on earth. The man rubs me wrong in his later years but seems to have found himself again trying to bring attention to our paralyzed veterans.

SO FREAK'N AWESOME!!!!!

Just when you thought . . . I'll just leave that there . . . :hilarious:

No. Sorry you can't leave it there 'cause I won't let you.

As the story unfolds these 'special' strollers won't go on a bus or fit in a car right? So my understanding is the family is picked up in a limo and met with their DD special carriage outside the Magic Kingdom to be escorted in her carriage for the day. I've yet to have the will to go and see what the toddler carriage experience cost is from the 'outside' rental company. Oh my DD was so deprived. :cautious:

There is spoiling children and then there is why just why:eek:

I'm short. I can't even imagine trying to see over the top of that monstrosity.

I said it several years ago. Disney has every capability of ending the oversized stroller nuttery. They can limit the size, width, height and length of strollers allowed on their transportation and into their parks if they so choose. They already ban things like wagons and items that are pulled by strollers and wheelchairs. If they want to fix all this they can suck it up and do so.

But in return they have to stop the insane cost of stroller rentals. I always rented strollers in the parks when mine were small. It was $7, $2 was a deposit that was returned to me when I returned the stroller that night. That still had boatloads of profit over strollers that lasted forever over the years. $35 for a double stroller is beyond insane and that policy just begs parents to bring their monstrosities on Disney Transportation and into the parks. I can't imagine the 2 2 week vacations that we took with my kids way back then and paying $35 to rent a stroller. Insane.

YIKES is right! I can't believe that's even legal:eek::greedy::jawdrop:

The CPs are only part of the financial issue. Add in the international student aged workers. They are housed the same way but it separate quarters. While CPs can re-up the Internationals must go home unless they marry someone etc etc etc...reasoning for separate housing campuses.

Then add in the foreign workers brought in to replace the American workers that the Americans had to train in order to qualify for their separation severance package. This one at least looks like it has merit as it travels through the courts in favor of the now unemployed-let go employees. But I feel for the CMs and the living wage if they are so easily replaced by college and international students, just trying to get hours. It isn't like the admission per person doesn't cover the costs, the stock is doing very well. It is a place I love but in return so Ugly for the common CM over the long haul.

Thanks!

A few years ago I bought a big container of no sugar "maple" syrup thinking that would be better than using regular maple syrup, then a couple days after I read an article extolling the virtues of maple syrup and all the good for you stuff that was in it (in moderation) of course. Then I thought about the artificial sweetener I had just bought to "save myself" from the evil maple syrup, and I went and threw away the bottle of fake stuff. That was the point I started thinking and did some research into artificial sweeteners and no I try to avoid them as much as possible. I will have Diet Coke occasionally, but that is usually in Disney. I figured natural was probably better. We are lucky, a friend of ours Dad taps maple trees on his property and makes maple syrup to give to friends and family and luckily we fall into that category. So free maple syrup for us!
Let your dh know mojitos are healthier than rum and cokes if made the real way:joyfull: Good luck getting him out of his rut LOL

We have a mulberry tree in our yard. They are white. It was here when we moved in and in a not very much visited part of our yard. 2 years ago I walked down to where the tree was and smelled a really horrible smell. It smelled like really bad wine. I then looked at the tree and saw loads of what looked like white large maggots. It was disgusting looking. Yeah stupid me did not know they were mulberries. Hey they just looked icky. What do you do with them? All I know is they are used by silk worms to feed on. Never tried one.
Make pies and jam of course:joyfull:

More Father's Day fun...! :)

We finished our brunch at Kerby Lane and headed for the go-kart track ressie about 30-40 mins. away.
Only, my crazy-cool fam tricked me again, and I had no clue...it was no go-kart track in that hometown, it was the airport for a half-hour flight in one of these...a gyroplane !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull:

This was the coolest thing ever...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:
I even got to take the controls for about 8 mins. of the flight, and he said I did awesome...I took it left, right, up, down, increased, and decreased throttle. The gyroplane is such a stable flight platform.
Also, the pilot was very impressed that I knew the inventor of the gyroplane was a Spanish engineer named Juan de la Cierva, and his creation first flew in 1923...!
Again, this was soooooo awesome...the closest thing in real life to flying like all those childhood dreams I had...!!!!!!! :)
Coolest gift ever:joyfull: That sounds like quite the fun day:joyfull:
