I miss road trip games. My brothers and sister and I were always making up silly games. A little bit of that still sticks with me. Sometimes if I take the bus down the interstate to work, I watch for out-of-state license plates, or how many red vehicles I can count along the way, or the number of trucks.

It's no different than when I was a kid--it's just to kill boredom during the ride, in stop and go traffic in rush hours.

Hahaaa...!
We used to do similar.
I remember on those summer trips back to Texas from No Cal, we used to spend the first night on our way down to Texas at a KOA campground in the hills/mountains between the San Joaquin Valley and LA. There was a truck weigh station across the highway, and we would count them as they were headin' back out onto the highway and goin' through their gears. I remember we always counted around 100 trucks, give or take, but, it eventually lulled us to sleep. :)
On the last night of the trip back to No Cal, as a treat, we would spend the night in a town called Indio, CA. at a hotel with A/C and a pool (even though pretty much all KOAs had pools too, but the camper had no A/C), and also eat out...!!!!! :joyfull:
More good memories...!!!!!

I couldn't make it to the event this morning. :( There was some yard work that I was gonna' save 'til later, but, we have storms predicted for this afternoon, so I needed to take care of it this morning. I don't mind yard work so much, but, I would have much rather helped out with the event. :bored:

Just not enough hours in the day, buddy . . . :( It's so hard sometimes, when all you have is a weekend and you try to do everything and then some. Frustrating . . . :banghead:

Where I grew up, country music was not played on the radio. (If there even was a country station, I was unaware of it. No one I knew listened to country back then.) We listened to rock, contemporary or classical. Once in a while, a country song would be heard (most likely on a tv variety show), and most of the time, the song didn't appeal to me. Guess it's just what you grow up with, that helps form your opinion. Maybe if I was given the correct exposure to country music as a kid, I'd have more of an appreciation for it now.

However, the song you just happened to share here (I didn't even know the name of it, until I just played it from your clip), is one that I had heard many years ago--and I loved it immediately. There was just something about that guy's voice (really smooth . . . ), and the lyrics really pulled me in. I could see this song being used for a soundtrack in one of those cool, old black and white, western movies.

I'm not at all familiar with Marty Robbins, but I really like that song!! Thanks for sharing. :inlove:

Yep, that was a song I remember from way back when and have heard many times over the years. It's a classic, and I love it.
Even when we lived in No Cal there were country stations, and mom and pops car and truck radios were always tuned to them.
But, that is also the point were us kiddos started getting into pop and rock. The year I started going to junior high, the school was far enough away that I had to take the bus. All the busses had radios, and our drivers always had it tuned to KLIV, the local San Jose pop/rock station.
I appreciate most musical genres these days, but, I definitely have a special place in my heart for more old time/traditional Country Music...!!!!!

STARCHING? I feel like I've fallen into a time warp here ;) --do people actually starch things anymore? Truly, the last time I saw any reference to starching was watching my mother, back in the late 60s, at the ironing board with a can of that stuff. I've never used it in my life, and don't plan on starting it now! :p

Yea, I remember mom doin' that too.
The only thing I know about starch these days is potatoes, rice, etc....!!!!! :hilarious:  ;)

I gave you a like because I'm shock. ;) (Guess your hubs' office dress code isn't business casual, eh?)

SIZING? What in heaven's name is THAT??!! :jawdrop:

Oh, by the way, there is something new that I think will make your life easier. It's called Permanent Press, and I know that many dress shirts are made out of that material process now. :D Let's go shopping today, since I am off from work--let's buy your hubs all new shirts and dump the others! :p Then, let's get ice cream for us. :hungry:

Is there starch in ice cream...?!?!?! o_O

:D ;)
