We are mourning the loss of our favorite old time Cub Ernie Banks. A man who found it beyond lucky to play baseball because it was fun and thanked his lucky stars for his good fortune. He always had time for everyone, was kind to strangers, media, gave kids autographs before games. RIP Mr. Cub

And then in the same news casts we get to listen to the ridiculous. My Mom would still knock me upside the head if I acted out in public like this.

Marshawn Lynch makes enough money he doesn't give a carp. It's "strategery self-promotion" in a way. Look at how many people are talking about him and that puts focus on the Seahawks.

Ditto.

I go to the movies about 10 times/year, and my favourite part is watching the trailers.
After nearly every one, I proclaim aloud, "Pass".
I now have my niece and Tammy doing it too.

There's a lot of power in that little 4-letter word.
You go more than I do.

Last year, I saw 3 movies in theaters: Frozen, Alexander, and Big Hero 6.

I have never seen 10 movies in theaters in one year, in no small part because of ticket prices.

Trying to think what I saw last year ....

Maleficent x3
Guardians of the Galaxy
Alexander & the Terrible, Horrible ... Day
St. Vincent
Big Hero 6

So, way less than 10 last year. A lot depends on how often I take my niece.

When the kids were little, the three of us (no Hubby) used to go to the drive in every week ... sometimes, twice. 12 weeks x a minimum of 2 movies ....
I saw Spiderman 2 at least a half a dozen times; either as the feature or the bonus.

Okay, I've already confessed to being a tech-dummy.
My iCloud is full. I cleared out 1.2 GB, but need 2.2 GB ... so, I ask Hubby if I remove my pics from the Cloud, would I lose the 2 years worth of photos from my first iPhone?

For once, he didn't know, and Google was no help.
Solution - 99 cents a month for 20 extra GB.

Am I not Apple's ideal sucker? Umm, I mean customer.

Tickets here are $10 a piece pretty much. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower.

I don't mind paying that if I'm just going with friends and have to pay for just myself. But at a certain point, it becomes cheaper to wait and actually buy the movie.

I go to movies if one of my friends wants to go or if my brother asks. Or if there's something I absolutely want to see in theaters.

Like Disney movies. And Pixar movies. And Star Trek.

There used to be pretzels in the variety pack that I would take with me. The only problem is that they really do make you super thirsty, but if I could find a thing of snack packs with nothing but pretzels and then alternate eating them and something like Goldfish, that might work.

Can you also keep a few small bottles of water in your car, to have handy (not just for pretzels, but in general)?

I already do that. There are water bottles, tea, and Coke Zero cans. Even when I stopped carrying snacks, the drinks stayed.

Problem is I can only carry two at a time in my backpack. And I'll go through those within one or two classes, pretzels or none.

Lady fell very ill with bad vitals. A Doc that actually had good diagnostic skills asked her if she had been eating licorice. Turns out she ate a pound of Dutch salt black licorice.

Messes with kidney's blood pressure, hormones, drops potassium and interferes with meds.

Note this is real black licorice not the fake stuff.

Wow! What a freaking bizarre medical story!! (I'm always fascinated by odd case studies like this.) :p

I make it a point to never eat pretentious cheese. Rule of thumb, if I cannot easily pronounce it, it is off my list.
And don't even get me started on cheese with bright blue/green MOLD running through it and smells vaguely like vomit

There are some pretentious cheeses out there that are so yummy. :hungry: We don't want you to deny yourself of delectable flavors, (simply because of reverse snobbism?!) ;) :D :p

Now, aside of the above, I absolutely agree with you when it comes to blue mold cheeses!!! My father used to absolutely love blue cheese, and the moldier the better. Made me gag just to look at it!

Wonder how this will go over:

“IKEA wants to offer healthy food choices that are delicious, sustainable and affordable for the many people, based on the IKEA Swedish identity. IKEA Food is currently developing the food range to provide options that meet the many different preferences of our customers. One of the exciting new products is a Veggie ball which will be launched in our stores from April and onwards. The veggie ball does not have any animal content and is therefore also suitable for vegans.”

Gaacck. (Also, how can a Veggie ball be an "exciting" new product? Where's the excitement?)

Sure. Anything an asthmatic or someone with respiratory issues inhales this glitter dust would escalate the breathing complications. Don't you remember all the problems with Spanish people throwing Flour and having Flour fights a few years ago and then the stupidity spread throughout the world.

I must live in a bubble. Never heard of flour fights. o_O (I have heard of, and participated in, food fights . . . um, years ago . . . well, actually, last year at one point :hilarious:). Obviously, I need to pay more attention to international news events. ;)

Yes, yes I do want to deny myself that acquired taste situation. If I have to acquire a taste for something, I just cannot figure out why I would want too. There are so many other things that I can enjoy and I don't have to get it past my gagging reflex to do it.;)

Oh man. I wish I could arrange for this: you'd be such a good candidate for a "blind taste test". I'd love to set up a table where you could try all kinds of hoity toity, pretentious, snob appeal cheeses, that have their labels turned over so you can't see them. Then we'd ask you which ones you liked, and I guarantee some of them might even have a French name! :joyfull:

being completely honest.. I dont think Cheetos are a great idea..
I think these.. along the Twinkies.. are the worst comfort food ever(other than silly things like deep fried butter twinkie).

I will happily take any bags of Cheetos that you don't want! (I think what @Gabe1 was trying to do was give a few suggestions of small bag snacks with reasonable calories. I think as long as you don't eat Cheetos every day, it's o.k. As my grandmother used to say, "Everything in moderation.") :)

This dress is stunning on the First Lady.

What a artfully slimming design.

Not sure if I like it. It's taking me too long to decide. Luckily, she's an attractive woman and would probably look good in anything. Also, I'm not even sure I the dress on the model either. I think the combination of dissimilar designs is competing too much with one other. I sort of "get" what the designer was doing, and I guess it looks a little better as an ensemble with the coat, but still not a major fan of this design. Next outfit please . . . :)
