Did you ever find out why they brought in USIC people from Texas...?

No! But they are still here. We have sticks protruding from the ground, spray paint galore...it seems to be centered around one main State Road and 2 secondary roads. Something is happening and 'no one is talk'n about it.' And I'm one that prides myself as always being in the know. But your fellow Texan's are still with us. Hope they enjoy the snow on Wednesday.

I'm glad I don't pay rack rates for tickets. Runs and hides under large rock.

Oh dear! I did peek. Now my kids are grown however the new rates for almost 3 day hoppers is just about what I paid for 14 days length of stay passes. Now I know inflation and all but seriously on average nobody' salaries have gone up to compete with these type of increases. Ouch. Kinda funny that these increase come on the heels of park attendance was down....do they think this will help?

Thank you--interesting morning--everything was delayed. We got another 10 inches in my area overnight. Most of the schools in MA have been closed since last Thursday, so that's a good thing in that a bunch of parents stay home with them, and keep off the road.

Left home this morning around 5:50 AM. Even though I had a 45-minute wait for a bus this morning (and the sidewalks downtown hadn't been plowed yet--so there were 4 of us standing in 2-3-foot snow drifts- ha! :p ), with the lack of traffic out there, the bus made pretty good time to a subway station. (I went a different way this morning,) Subway train came fairly quickly, too, and by the time I walked up to the hospital, I pulled off the commute in a little over 2 hours--not bad for all the snow we've had over the past 5 days.

Dear Lord! When I worked in Chicago I had a walk to the train and an hour in from where I lived then. And then back home again. About 2 1/2 hours a day commuting. I can't imagine a day like yours. My DD can go to the office or work from home 95% of the time. Still they do send out SOSs that encourage they work from home when the weather is bad. Her laptop always comes home with her 'cause you never really know.

Fantasyland isn't that bad, but it could be better. I think Disney should have a consultation with fans, like send out surveys or something, to get their ideas on ideas to improve parks but actually take the time to read them. We have a lot of good ideas.

Funny how, as far as I know, Walt never consulted with, or surveyed, massive amounts of Guests regarding what attractions, etc., to put in Disneyland or WDW. He just seemed to have an innate sense of story and total immersion in such, and how much the Guests would appreciate the attention to detail that he championed...

“Walt, in his drive to make the Disneyland experience feel authentic, had asked that the cab be suspended by leather straps as the early stage coaches had been. “‘Why don’t we just leave the leather straps off, Walt?’ John questioned. ‘The people are never going to appreciate all this close up detail.’ Walt turned, firmly planted his finger on John’s chest, and replied, ‘You’re being a poor communicator. People are okay, don’t you ever forget that. They will respond to it. They will appreciate it.”

—John Hench ex-Imagineering Senior Vice President

The irony is, TWDC could possibly very well benefit creatively from something Walt never needed to do, because they are so blinded by the bottom line, and only seem to really care about "creatively" making more profit.
I get that, but, at a certain point, there's a crossover critical mass, and it just becomes plain sick... :hungover:

Now, with all that time I spent on all a' that up there, the ultimate killer to all of it, these days especially, are the legalities.
Sure, they can do surveys all day long about what your experience was, etc., but you start spouting ideas about how this section of an attraction can be improved by your new idea, and your cut off at the pass.
When I worked at the Disney Store, we were not allowed to accept any unsolicited ideas from anyone outside the Company, in any way, shape, or form. No envelopes, no emails, no discussions...we were instructed to nip it all in the bud.
I've posted about this before, but, when I was a CM, I had an idea for a portion of a water slide that, to this day, I still know would be awesome!
I sketched it up in color and labeled everything about how it would work, with failsafes and all, and was so happy with it!
Of course, stupidly as hell (I'll just blame it on the Pixie Dust ;)) I thought that it would be a good idea that they would want to look at from a fellow CM, no matter how far down the line. Not. Even. Close.
I went so far as to call Legal in NYC, and was told no way Jose.
That's when I found out they didn't even want ideas from CMs within the Company, unless you were in certain job roles.

Ultimately, especially in today's climate, I should have known better, but, even though sometimes, and even many times, we get the 2x4 of life broken across our faces, we can still dream...hopefully, though, we eventually learn to dream smarter...! ;)

Maybe they want the attendance to drop since some of its parks are full blown construction messups.

Well, it's been days now since he ate the hommus, and he seems just as active (and a pain in the behind) as usual; so I don't think the hommus poisoned him. But from now on, that's something we'll put out of reach, if we need to step out of the kitchen, even for just a minute.

And he'll find something else to abscond instead. I like it when he eats the bills that come in the mail ! HA! Yes, he even eats paper sometimes . . . :cautious: It's not that he's hungry--I think it's just the "hunt" that he likes . . . when he does bad things, he's proud of himself.

I have my favorite Jack stories. I'm thinking him lapping up the Mustard was one of my favorites though. I was looking at photo's of Walt we are at that time of the year of his 'gotcha day' and 2 popped up on my feed. One with his chin on my nightstand with tiny dog bones in a small bone. With his chin firmly planted his eyes are totally locked on the bowl. Our Pups they do enjoy the human side of life.

Yep, I pretty much expressed that yesterday with different examples. Disney has gotten themselves in some situations that questioned lifting ideas from outside the organisation and developing them as their own. Theory's out there is Disney accepts No outside imagineering to safeguard their future endeavors. Still even with the rejects...at times the initial seed has to be planted with some unsolicited works.

This part is kinda ironic, because they are so adamant on getting raw talent from their own work forces. That they literally fire people for being exactly what Disney needs. Then they later need to throw millions of millions of dollars to get that talent back.

Yea, it's kinda' funny. I came up with the design idea and tried to get Disney to look at it shortly after I started at TDS. I have only ever showed the idea to DWifey and the kiddos.
After that, I and we, as CMs, openly discussed ideas (not around Guests, of course), 'cause that is our passion. We knew the ideas were never goin' anywhere, but, it sure was fun brainstormin' while we were doin' shipment, or had a slow time onstage, etc.
Good times...!!! ;) :)

Good morning at least there seems to be a full day of school today and I'll be able to get a few things done and catch up on some cooking. From what I hear most of the roads are clearish.:cautious: It's about 20 degrees and the wind is still a bit gusty so if I can safely make my way out to the smoker tonight's dinner smoked groundhog with salad and potato salad with a few bottles of nouveau beaujolais:angelic::angelic:
