I need one of those like yesterday. :) Well....actually, I need one of those in 6 months after I have hopefully lost all the weight I gained over the holidays. LOL

Hahaaa...!
Yea, it's still a bit crazy at our office. Leftover Holiday treats are still showing up in the kitchen...everything from chocolates, to cookies, to pecan pie, etc. It's kinda' nutso, actually...!!! :hilarious:

My mother was 2 and my father was 8. :hilarious:

Neither of my parents came here until adulthood. They both went to WDW when they were kids. My dad went in 1972 (or 1973; can't remember which) and my mom came in 1976. They went for their first anniversary in 1986, though my dad had been about four times before then.

Monorails, though, because they don't use the horns too frequently in WDW, were a surprise first time I came here. I've since heard them used on occasion in WDW, but not as much as over here.

As I've posted before, I was 6 at the time of my first visit to Disneyland. I definitely remember the horns, though. :)
The Mark VII monorail trains of today at Disneyland don't look all that dissimilar to the ones from '68, actually...! ;) :)

My first trip to WDW was for mine and DWifeys honeymoon in Dec. of '88. She had been there once before a few years earlier. We both visited Disneyland as kiddos, and also once when we were dating in '87. Unfortunately, our last DLR visit was that quick trip back in '10 when DS and myself flew out to meet up with DWifey and youngest DD on youngest DDs HS choir trip.
Really want to get back soon...! :)

Hey all. Happy new year. I'm sorry I haven't been on in a while but generally during the holidays, I'm not too active on the social media. I hope everyone had a great season, and when I walked into Target tonight to buy some toothpaste, they had all the hearts up already (grrrr!!), so happy Valentine's Day 2017! And now it is time for me to annoy you with another one of my little pictorials. :)

First, from my office holiday party. Luckily, I didn't end up dancing on any tables.

A few days later, we went to see a really great professional production of Mary Poppins at the John Engemann Theatre in Northport, Long Island, and someone snapped this of me at a piano in the lobby. No I cannot play. Yes, after drinking that giant glass of wine, I probably think I can:

Eventually, Christmas came, and Santa brought........hand sanitizer?!?!?!?!??!?!

It's because Phil knows I am a total germaphoble. This is what he thinks is my gag gift every year, but what he doesn't know is that it is one of my favorites, because I am completely insane. :) PS - I was about to say that I finally got photographed without alcohol in my hands, but.....oh wait......

Somewhere in the middle of all this, I heard that one of my plays (set at Christmas, as a matter of fact) was getting great reviews in London. Here is the cast and a couple of reviews are linked below. I think one of them might have a picture of a half naked butt, so beware. ;) :

After a few days of great movies like Manchester by the Sea, Fences, and La La Land, New Year's came, and we went to our favorite overpriced local restaurant, because Phil had gotten some gift certificates there from a couple of his clients. They do an amazing New Year's Eve with lights all over the place, a great menu, tons of booze, and balloons!!!!!!!!!. Right up my alley:

Finally, I went to Times Square for the ball drop, courtesy of Phil's very large tv set!!

Everything went smoothly at the Social Security office. Our new Medicare Cards will be in our hands in about four weeks. Next up is putting in a new phone line in the house for my husband's new job. I called AT&T, and as long as I had them on the phone, I qualified for a new bundle that will save us some money in the next two years, at least. You know how those things go. UVerse will be connecting our internet with fiber optics, as well, so perhaps my grandson will not comment so much about the "Pokey/slow internet".

I have had pretty darn good luck overall with UVerse have had it for years and years. My DD has it also and her internet speed is a bit slower than mine has been over the years-house and her apartment about 1/2 mile apart. She called this week and they bump'd her up to the next level for free. When the speed does drop we can usually solve it by rebooting the system but that is even rare to need to do that. What we do have issues with is their system upgrades. Some you can have control over for a limited amount of time but I advise to comply as soon as possible cause they will force it without warning if you put it off too long. Everything goes down, phone, cable and internet. The updates usually only take about 5 minutes.

Our fiber optics are to the neighborhood hub box. From the box to the house it isn't fiber it is wired.

Sand works well on snow, not so much on ice. That's why salt is critical on icy roads and highways. If you drive up in northern Maine, they tend to have more regular snow, versus icy snow. They use a ton of sand up there on the roads and it works quite well. The decision to use one or the other (and sometimes a mix) always depends up on the temperature and moisture in the air. Canada has some cool solutions (under specific conditions) with beets! No kidding.

They use sand for ice and snow around here. But, again, so rare it really doesn't matter. :)

Nooooo, Times Square for NewYears is not for me. They put you in these little pens and then you have to just stand there for like 8 hours or more, no bathroom, no drinks, nothing. Thumbs down for me. ;)

Standing for 8 hours, in a pen, with no place to go wee wee, and no drinks...?! Is this some kinda' psychological experiment...?!?!?! o_O
Yep, that would be a major no-go for me too... :cyclops: ;)

This is actually pretty common with the VDSL type links.
Where its fiber to the box, and then to the box is copper.
The speeds can still go up to 200Mbps. (they use the DSL type tech, but they instead move the "translator" aka the DSLAM device, very close to your home, instead of having it far away in the most closest internet provider/phone company station)
