We went to church on Christmas, where we sang religious Christmas carols.

We went to church on Christmas Eve, then we had a nice family meal (me, mom, dad, and sis) and that's when we had our birthday cake for Jesus. Then we would open up a family present that night and maybe play a game. Then it was off to bed because Santa was coming that night! :)

Thanks, it's been very stressful around here. I just want the Holiday's to be over for this year. Christmas music and happy holiday greetings are making me sad this year.

Maybe if you try to enjoy a few little things (instead of the whole, big extravaganza) about Christmas, you might have a little joy. For example, maybe you received a nice Christmas card and you could focus on the pretty picture. Or maybe you saw some tempting holiday cookies in a store--you could buy a few. Celebrating holidays in a toned-down, low-key way can still give you some comfort and joy--without overwhelming you with extra, unwanted stimulus, when you're already a little bit down. And you can always refuse invitations from people who ask you to parties, get-togethers, etc. Maybe next year that might be appealing. Just do what makes you feel comfortable, no matter how little it is, and let it go at that.

Thanks, I pretty much expect to go deaf in my later years. That happened to my Grandma. Will have hubby look into these.
Bets... you need to lighten up on yourself a bit. Just because members of your family had problems doesn't mean that you are going to have the same ones. We all get to the point where our senses aren't as sharp as they once were. Me, for example, I can hear a pin drop in spite of having a constant ringing in my ears for almost 40 years now. However, if I get in a situation where there is a lot of external noise, I have a hell of a time making out what people are saying to me. I don't look at that as going deaf, just that I can no longer isolate other noises and focus on the singular sounds. I had a Father that died of a heart attack, I don't necessarily think I'm going to do the same thing. It's possible, but, that would have been the case even if he hadn't. I can go on and on with examples.

Believe me I am completely aware that as we get older and it seems like everyday we get up with a new pain someplace, it is hard not to think about those things, but, for your own mental health see if you can find something else to think about. Medical science has changed a lot since your Grandma's time, (well, everywhere except Colorado for some reason ;)) I had a Grandmother that lost her mind basically because she had Cataracts so bad that she basically went blind, and she couldn't deal with it and was afraid of doctors so she refused the surgery of the day which admittedly was awful, but, it did restore sight. Today it is such a simple fix that it is mind boggling what a devastating thing it was back then. Not anymore. Just go one day at a time and enjoy it as fully as you can and stop worrying. What's gonna happen is gonna happen and worrying about it will not change anything. And while you are doing that, I will try and do the same thing. :D

Classic instrumentals can inspire people!

Glad everything went well in your graduation.
So.. now whats the next step? get your title/diploma?
and then onwards to work?
They'll send me the diploma in the mail next month once they verify I didn't fail any of my classes (I didn't). I have a third interview with a company tomorrow which I'm hoping will include an offer. And I am off to SC on Thursday to be with my family, and then I come back for four days, and I head to Disneyland. Then I head to San Diego for a few days, then I fly straight from San Diego to Orlando to meet my parents, and we're going to WDW. Then I can come home and start working.

And why we go and visit my DD University a couple times a year when we are in Central Illinois. It is massive so we have plenty to do and a couple nice hotels for cheap down that way. It is always a fun roadtrip.

It is hard to compare generations though. I don't even know anyone who smokes cigars, not thinking there are as many boxes out there to be had these days as there once were when it was popular to smoke cigars socially. My one Gran was a real saver and recycler especially with clothing items. That Gran never held a job outside the home. Frankly I don't have a lot of time needed to cut squares out of old fabric and create a quilt. We use to have TVs with tubes in them and they would be replaced as needed or the TV repairman would take the TV away and returned fixed. Now it is cheaper to toss it than have it repaired. My gym shoes cannot be re-soled or heeled like my real good expensive shoes can. But I did take Walter's leash twice to the shoe maker to be resewn. It was expensive and soft leather, worth the $20 for them to fix.

But other things if we are being fair are tossed less as example light bulbs where my kitchen fan bulbs would last a few months now they last at least 7 years. I use to have buy replacement batteries for my older cell phones but now they last as long as my phone does and hold a charge longer using less electricity. My truck gets so much better gas mileage than my Mustang did and that one loved Premium Gas. My refrigerators last about the same length of time but take so much less electricity to operate. I don't use charcol that needs to be tossed anymore, I love my gas grill and the coals only need to be replaced every 5 years. My Christmas Lights don't die anymore when one bulb goes out like they use to. Unlike my Big Bulbs I had when I was just married they don't burn out and get tossed, the LEDs just last longer and are more efficient. I had an artificial Christmas tree for 25 years, got away from fresh trees that were tossed after a month. Do to refrigeration improvements and storage food lasts longer now and not as much waste. We have the ability to freeze and save where my Gran's ice box did not.

Every era looses some old stand-bye ways of life and in turn we make new milestones in what we improve upon.

This dialogue needs to be included in the next updated final scene of CoP...!!! ;)

It makes you strong and hearty! :) You know you're in good physical shape when you can continue on with your daily routine in those types of temperatures. So be happy!

Hmpf.

Nope. I refuse. I go out my fingers hurt, my toes are frozen. My nose is angry with me. Contacts, well they don't want to stay in my eyes. Stupid stupid cold. :coldfeet:

The hard part to take about the (37) today is that yesterday, and I kid you not, I was out with shorts and t-shirt. The sun was shining and it felt almost like early summer. The day before it was again in the 30's, in fact during the night it hit 21 degrees. So 21 to 71 to 37. Nothing like consistency. It's a good thing is that those of us that transplanted from the north don't really differentiate between winter and summer clothes, just long pant vs. shorts or wind breaker or light weight fleece jacket. However, everything must be at the ready.

Passed a neighbor friend today as he was scurrying towards the door, me-Charming out huh?-and his response of and IT IS STILL FALL took me aback. Oh my.
