Real maple syrup does contain antioxidants and other good for you things like riboflavin, zinc, magnesium, calcium and potassium and has a better glycemic index than refined sugar. Not that it should be consumed in high quantities or be seen as a health food but at least it has something good in it. So a little every once in awhile isn't so bad.

I will admit the prices are pretty crazy for it though, we are lucky that we have some friends that make maple syrup every year and give us some. We don't use a whole lot so I have a couple pints in our cupboard.

Local honey is good for you, too...! :)

I got a card for my mom's birthday yesterday. Lower price because I refuse to pay more than $4 for a card even that is pushing it. Spending $2 on Black Friday when my sister spent a couple hundred.

I'm not a big fan of cards either as a giver or a receiver. Did I skip a beat or did your Sis spend a couple hundred on a card???? :confused:
