pics of the day,not many as we did nothing good except relaxing, shopping(not much lol) and enjoying the sea.
We tried new restaurant.. same awful service. I guess all these restaurants just cant get decent waiters.
still, unlike last itme, this time was delicious. my shrimp cocktail was perfect.
and after reheating, my breaded shrimp was very good.

at night I went alone to a restaurant while my mother fought with the hotel. we got 2 cancelations in a row out of no reason. Then we found why.
This weekend is a long vacation weekend, which means all hotels give priority to people staying more than 3 days. so they will literally CANCEL any reservation and dump anyone who isnt profitable for them.
we got dumped by 2 hotels even after RESERVATION CONFIRMATION... and 4 refused us..
I hope we can get our last resort hotel, because everything else was full.

not to mention all hotels went from 50 USD to 150 USD a NIGHT.
aka they wanted us to get the most expensive prices for 3 nights..

anyway, my food was delicious. I got a cocnac creamy filet medallion and I Got my mom some gnochis and tiramisu.
they were delicious..
photos of the tiny restaurant's area.

Happy farm market Saturday. I just shed a tear knowing it will be the last one until spring:( Busy, busy day for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! farm market, my nail appointment( I remembered to make one this time LOL), while I'm doing that the guys all need haircuts(at least the barber is only 2 blocks from the nail salon), the part I ordered for the older serger I came into came in, so that needs to get picked up(at least I get to go to the sewing machine store:joyfull:), then we'll hit one of the supermarkets we need to get to. All of that on not much sleep we went out last night and got stuck in traffic for hours:mad: Wish us luck. THNX

The real meaning in Figgy's case is we need "proof" that the stuff she throws together with ingredients that have to be shipped in from a distant star, because they don't exist in a human world, is actually bread. And how can it be called bread, it isn't made like bread that is defined as bread. Maybe they should call it breadwannabe or perhaps dread for short.

Dread . . . :hilarious: :hilarious:

Just a little rant about things not being made like they used to. I came into an older serger, a basic model and not one of the "top" brands. The only thing wrong with it is it was missing a part but runs like a champ. As of now it can do almost everything and even not being able to do everything it's we'll worth keeping. Even if I couldn't replace the part myself it would be worth having it fixed. Wish today's replacement model was just as good. Rant over

I participate. From my couch on Amazon. Couch shopping is the best.

Shopping online definitely has benefits. Yet, I do like to poke around actual stores, though, for some of my shopping, but NOT on Black Friday. No thanks. (Luckily, some stores around here have had some really decent sales already this month, and I've knocked out a number of gifts on my list.)

I'm heading out both Friday and Saturday next week before dawn. Jo Ann's has sales too good to pass up plus, I have coupons and my dh' s discount that can be combined. That store never seems to be too busy at opening:) As for small business Saturday we're doing it a week early. Except for the supermarket all our shopping today will be small local places including the hardware store:joyfull:

It is indeed a beautiful drive, but, when you're stuck in a traffic jam at night on your way home, and as far as you can see there are nothing but headlights coming from the other direction, and tail lights in front of you, it's a bit annoying.

I think back sometimes, about the origin of "rush hour" traffic. It was called an HOUR for a reason back then--nowadays, at least on the highways around here, it's always "rush hour" traffic -- bumper to bumper. Insanity.

(So it's not just Austin.) To give you an idea, if I take a highway bus home from Boston, from the entrance to 93, to my exit off the highway--is only 12 miles. Yet, it can often take an hour. That same route overnight, or up to maybe 5 AM, will take 15-18 minutes, tops. (I also have other commuting options with a train, etc., that I can choose from each day. But, I just see which option is the lesser of two evils, depending upon traffic, delayed or cancelled trains, etc. Fun, fun . .. NOT.)

Sympathy like. Last night we got stuck in major traffic for hours for a trip that should have been maybe 30 minutes:mad:

Wow. That's appalling; sorry you had to deal with that. What a great way to kill future business. Morons.

Well, the good thing about the closure of the farm market is that you won't have to buy anymore yucky okra now! :p

Good, strong, metal parts . . . that's what machines were made of years ago. I think about the OLD Singer sewing machine that my grandmother used--I don't even know how many years old it was, but it looked like the original one ever made !! Anyway, she used that for her own family's clothing (she sewed, knitted and crocheted a lot), and then my mother used it for our family for many years.

So, two generations of families were served quite well by this old workhorse of a machine. I recall my mother telling me (years ago) that all they ever did was occasionally use sewing machine oil, and that was IT !!! :jawdrop: It never had a broken part. When my parents passed away, neither my sister nor I wanted it, because it was too big (it was in a special sewing machine table, and of course, weighed a ton). Sis and I had our own small, separate apartments when we moved away from home, and it was too big to haul around. We gave it to a neighbor back then. (She's probably still using it now!!) ;)
