Probably was, but it wasn't the first thing that popped in my head when reading the test question. Major senioritis moment.:joyfull:

Great Depression really isn't talked about a whole lot in business classes these days. The 2009 recession is more relevant.
Yea, I was thinking more in terms of American History. Business wouldn't want to put much focus on depressions. If it hadn't been for that we wouldn't have the government guarantee on our deposits which is why it isn't a big deal now. The funny thing is that the whole banking system was simply and correctly explained in "It's a Wonderful Life".

Just got off the phone with the cable company:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: Me I want to cancel the television part of our service
Them would you like to upgrade to our premier package if you're not happy with your service
Me we never watch it and it's a waste of money
Them with the upgrade you can log in and use our services on all your mobile devices
Me I could care less, just tell me what I need to do to cancel
Them we'll give you a major discount if you get a one year contract (we've never had a contract)
Me I don't care I just want to get rid of the service
Them we'll need to set an appointment to pick up your box
Me it will be faster if i drop it at your office
Them by making an appointment it will give you time to reconsider
Me no thank you
Next week we start looking for a new internet service:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Let us know how that all worked out, I've been thinking about doing some dropping myself. Right now my TV is on in my living room, I'm in my office. It is just background noise that I keep on because it is costing me so much money that I at least want to feel like I'm getting something from the expense even if it is just entertaining roaches. Putting out those little bowls of popcorn for the roaches is starting to get old though.

We hooked up an antenna and have netflix(have had it for about 2 years) and just finished the trial for hulu and we're keeping it. i think today was the first time I've even flipped on the cable in about a week. Save yourself a small fortune and just get netflix &/or hulu to entertain the roaches

Which I have not seen. Yeah, yeah, I know. Shameful.

The last time I had American History was junior year of high school, which was five years ago. I remember more from World History in high school since it was an AP class, and it grazed over the depression.

You really should see it once. It's a sweet movie and BTW make sure to see it in black and white not one of those silly colorized versions. Most libraries that have DVDs have it. It's my favorite Christmas movie because it reminds me of my grandparents and their era:) I think Jimmy Stewart was to one of my grandmothers what Chris Pine is to you.:D

I'm sure it'll be on TV at some point when I can watch it.

Although I have finals until December 15, I graduate on December 19, and then I leave for SC on December 22, come home on December 29, and then I leave for California on January 3, and I don't come back from Florida until January 23, and somewhere in all of that I have to squeeze in Rogue One...yikes, I am busy.

If they have Thursday night showings, I might go on the Thursday. If not, possibly the Friday. I wanna see it before I head to SC because other than my brother, I am the only Star Wars fan in my family, so it's not like we'd see it down there if we had a yucky weather day.

Thinking I'm probably going to skip Moana and just wait for the DVD.

Yea, I guess it is old news now anyway. It is hard to learn from our mistakes if no one bothers to tell us about them. The last time I had American History was as a senior in high school, 50 years ago. I remember it, plus I had parents that lived at least partially through it and grandparents that absolutely did. I guess that makes it almost current events for me.

Hmpf-New boxes for Magic Bands, now recyclable. Reason: Guest requested recyclable boxes. hahahaha

Now I support recyclable boxes but I can't imagine that many guests upon receipt of their magic bands stopping to take the time to contact Disney to say 'hey! how come this box isn't recyclable?' o_O

Ugh. I'm sorry. Sending good Karma your way.

Oy. Yesterday my DD learned as did her boss moments before that they were once again consolidating. So far she is 'safe' but being a pretty savvy young woman she knows they wouldn't tell them until they were called into an office while security packed their belongings and confiscated their laptops. Yes, a week before Thanksgiving.

We shall see.

Wow. Best wishes to your DD. Like I mentioned in my post, why on earth this type of bad news has to go down before the major holidays, is beyond my comprehension.

Just don't mention the insanity about cold weather or you might find yourself out in it. ;) Just kidding with you, I, of course, would not wish that upon anybody, but, reacting to those type of rumors before anything can even possibly happen will not change the situation and only make your next few months miserable. So instead you know that you are not expendable and your position is safe and continue on like you never heard it.:)

Thank you. That helps, and you have a very valid point about not dwelling upon what "might" happen, as it won't really change anything. None of us know, at this point, what the eventual outcome will be. The high ranking executive that's leaving (within 1/2 year or less), called people into the office privately, and told us, one person at a time. I gave the exec. credit for presenting the news directly to each of us. It was the executive who stated that until the position gets filled, no one really knows what's going to happen in that dept., but every effort will be made to keep all of us or reassign to other divisions. Still, it's uncomfortable for all of us.

So, it appears I will be singing the alma mater at graduation! :D

Holy carp, I'm singing the alma mater for graduation in front of how many people? The entire gymnasium plus the overflow in the auditorium and however many people watch the live stream?:jawdrop::eek:

I hope somebody films it!!! I think it's great that you were chosen!! Not only do you know about bank runs, but you also can sing--that's a lot of talent. :joyfull:

It depends. Yes we were taught. We spent maybe a week on the Great Depression before moving on to World War II. World War II was covered in World History and American History, plus we read books in English that took place during World War II. As a result, I remember way more about World War II than the Great Depression. When your school devotes more time to one subject than another, yeah, you aren't really going to remember a whole lot. Same with Napoleon. Since it's not covered on the AP World History exam, we spent ten minutes on Napoleon. Napoleon is covered more thoroughly in AP European History (which I did not take). Repetition is a big factor, though. Not to mention that there was an additional 47 years of history that hadn't happened yet when you went to school that we had to cover, and they weren't exactly uneventful. So yup, basically what I remember of the Great Depression is that the banks all failed in the 1930s, which led to social reform programs and regulations on banks, as well as governmental insurance for banks, and then it ended with World War II. Got the general idea.

Then there are other times that it's weird what you remember. My brother brings home his science homework, and I barely remember a lot of it from 9th grade bio, but his algebra homework I can explain fairly easily.
