I went to the eye surgeon today. Basically, I have two different problems. One, is cataracts on both eyes. Right now, the cataracts are not noticeable to me at all. However, I am going by how I see with my glasses on. I have worn glasses since the age of 7. The doctors always ask me if my vision is blurry, and I tell them no. However, when I read their eye charts during a vision test I often respond to their questions as the letters are blurry.

My second issue is I have a macular pucker. Actually this condition also is present in both eyes, but worse in the right eye. The doctor seems much more concerned about monitoring the cataracts than the pucker. Surgery for the pucker would not be done, until and unless I have cataract surgery.

So for now, they are monitoring both conditions, and my next appointment is in 6 months. I guess we all have issues when we get old.

I hope your eye problems resolve themselves in time. Glad to hear that your eye doctor is monitoring your eye conditions.

Hello. Just wondering if anyone in the chit chat forum has been to or lives near 1000 Islands in New York/Canada area?

Edited: I am looking to go on vacation in that area next year and was wandering what a good time of year would be to go?

Wow. I just looked up that area on Google, and it looks really pleasant. Just wish I could help you with some information, but I've never been there, nor do I know anyone who has.

Still, I'll bet you'll have a very nice time if you go. :) I'm sure many people would also look forward to hearing about your impressions of the area, once you return back home.

December through February! Just kidding. There is a limited time for tourist in the great white north. Most tourist related things close up for the winter. Summer and early fall are the best times, but, many shut down right after labor day. However, I can assure you that if you do go from December through February it will not be crowded. On the other hand if you like winter things... that is a good time to go.

Oh, that's too bad. I love hummus!! :hungry: And, keep in mind that it may be the way it was prepared--it's like everything else--there's good hummus and then there's not so tasty hummus. :cautious: At our grocery store, we have about 3 brands of hummus and I definitely like one much better than the other two they sell. I've also had homemade hummus from a nice lady at work, who grew up in Lebanon. It's her grandmother's recipe, and it was delicious.

Every Christmas my folks Lebanese next door neighbors gift them a bunch of homemade goodies, and hummus is one of them. So delicious, we all love it...!!! :hungry:

I love early morning--I like the quiet. Even my dog is quiet for the most part. He joins me after I've been up for a little while. Then he gets curious  and the quiet ceases. He likes to explore around the kitchen in particular, and knocks all kinds of stuff over, including his metal food/water bowls, which make a big clang when they hit the floor.

The other morning, he spied a tiny piece of his dog food that somehow ended up underneath a stepstool in the kitchen. He's too big to fit under the stepstool, so when he tried to get under it, it toppled over and made a huge thud when it hit the floor (this was before I had coffee . . .:cautious: ). He's really just a canine wrecking ball . . .

Hahaaa...!!! :hilarious:
Belle usually ends up gently scratching our bedroom door somewhere between 5:30-6:00a. And, at some point, the "feed me" whining/barking starts up, and Ranger Shows up and joins in... :bored:
Since school started again, and because of traffic, I'm usually up and moving by 6:15-6:30a, but, as I've explained before, I don't usually try to sleep before midnight, or I'll wake up at around 4:00a-ish or something and not be able to go back to sleep.
I generally leave a little before or a little after 7:00a to get to the office before 8:00a. Traffic is insane if I leave even 10 mins. later.
Seems to work for me at this point in my life. :)

I'm sorry, losing a pet meant a lot of tears for me. After the last, I decided I couldn't do the loss anymore. I play with the neighbor's doggie.

So glad you have a pet to play with. I have a friend about a mile from me, I stop when riding my bike if the pup is outside to pet her. She sees me coming lays down and goes belly up. Fills the void.

Beautiful. I live in Co. the view should be better. It was until the land was zoned and they built a bunch of houses.

The area I live in was all farms and gradually homes were built in about 1/3 of town. The area zoned residential is now full and no room for any type of development. Many of the smaller ranches are being torn down for McMansions that don't fit the area. So many 100 year old homes many of which still have their barns in yards, so tall. Most have been converted to garages with lofts or inlaw, office space.

Was just in your state for a wedding in July for a weekend and then went over to Utah. Colorado still, for me, the prettiest state that I have vacationed too.

I agree, Colorado is beautiful. I use to ski frequently in my younger years. As a visitor for skiing it was beautiful, just wouldn't want to deal with all that snow as a local.

I chaperoned a National Youth Christian Council trip to CO after many years of only seeing the areas in winter one summer. We were in Aspen. It was awesome to see the place all greened up. The youth went rock climbing (me not so much, I like to be carried up a mountain and slip slide down with wine and cheese stops along the way) I really enjoyed seeing my snow covered lovely vacation area from a different perspective.

I have to walk a little ways to get out into the country. I have houses all around me too.

I'm a little less than a mile from the river-woods-nature area. About 1/3 of our paths are concrete. I use to walk Walt in his younger days about 5 miles a day starting from my front door. His last few years I'd load him in my truck and drive to the Riverwalk. He loved it as much as I did. We did differ though, he like @MinnieM123 loved loved the snow.

Seems to work for me at this point in my life. :)

Aside from newborn puppy thing...my Pups never woke me. If they had an urgent need it was always my husband they'd wake. I took care of them, walked them, fed them and for some reason they never ever woke me.

Jethro was my buddy. I was his people. I rescued him from a crate in a basement, someone else took his Sister. (not the owners fault a mega health issue and they put them up for adoption at 4 months old) I got him home, he met my female golden fell in love with her immediately (she had no use for him) Jethro followed me everywhere. He never needed to be trained, walked on a leash well, ran along side on my bike nicely unless a squirrel crossed his path. (he caught one in my yard one morning and brought its body to the back door so proud at 6am) Wake me up, never once.

But Jethro was a thief much like @MinnieM123 beloved Jack. Likely why I love Jack. He came to us as Fritz and his name was changed to Jethro Bodine as my Dad bulked cause his name was Freddie. But Fritz and his sister Liesl were fed from the same bowl. They had gobble fests that I witnessed the two times I saw him before adoption. He and Cinni never ate from the same bowl but he'd still gobbled and stalk her food, he never got over the inhaling of food. That would be OK but he also stole what wasn't his.

One day Jethro got to the lower ledge of my piano and stole 3 one pound bags of chocolate Easter Eggs in foil. He ate them all.
He woke my husband during the night-and I'm not sure what happened, either Jethro was very desperate or the man didn't wake quickly enough or attempted to ignore him hoping he'd go away. The pup barf'd 3 pounds of chocolate with foil all over the man.
I woke to total grossness, a freaked husband coated in....and a quivering pup in the middle of the night cause the man wasn't taking it well understandably. Showering husband, Pup outside, me stripping a bed in the middle of the night and throwing in a loads of laundry.

I consider myself blessed that Pups didn't dare wake me. :inlove: As a Mom of little kids they didn't wake either. Maybe 3-4 times between 2 kids did they ever wake me. Never had a kid crawl in bed with me. Blessed that way.
