Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I have what is called a macular pucker on my right eye. Bottom line, that is scar tissue. On Monday, I have an appointment to see a Retina Surgeon. I believe that I see just fine with my glasses. I am badly nearsighted, and have been my entire life since having corrective eye surgery at the age of 7, for a crossed eye. My regular eye doctor has been monitoring this condition for a while, and thinks the condition is getting worse. I am sure I will ask the eye doctor many many questions before agreeing to eye surgery. I am a big chicken.

I asked because my Mom has had that surgery too. Me biting nails in waiting room. It really did help her vision a great deal though she was likely faking it quite a bit before. She ultimately failed a drivers exam which pushed the issue. They did both eyes 1/2 year apart.

I too was born cross eyed. My folks sent me to an awesome cutting edge doc around Six Corners in Chicago. He didn't believe in surgery on young kids. He gave me glasses instead though I didn't need a normal correction. He put prisms in my eyeglasses that forced the eye straight. Over time the muscles became as strong as kids my age at the time and straightening out the eyes without surgery. It is a common practice now but not at all when I was small.

last post, we fly home tomorrow. We made it to the magic kingdom today. Finished up by seeing Tiki Birds , another trip through HM, Small World, and the Hall of President's. Still one of my favorite things to do. It's an eye opener , being this year an election. No political statement....just that things have changed since the founding of our Nation. @Gabe1 Here's an update on the issue with the sped student's mom....she didn't show up to the meeting. :facepalm:My boss said that she was agreeable to Wednesday morning. This is the second time I've been stood up by this woman. There is a scheduled IEP meeting for this kid next week, so we will see if she actually shows up.:cautious:
Sympathy like. Did she at least have a good excuse? A polite call to say why she missed the meeting. I'm sorry if this could be considered political but teachers are over worked and underpaid. Even in my district where we have the budget for extra supplies and the PTA puts together back packs full of almost everything even USBs for middle and high school kids from less fortunate families they still go into their own pockets when needed.

So had a a check up today with my doctor nothing big. But I finally asked him to check out my foot that has been hurting since after my 2 week trip to WDW in June and it has been confirmed that it is indeed a stress fracture. No cast or boot, just have to wrap it up during the day & during activity. I'm glad I don't have to get anything more than this because I would have refused. There's no way I'm wearing a cast during my cruise....I need to wade out to the sandbar on the adult beach at Castaway Cay!
I'm sorry to hear that I hope you're able to enjoy the adults only beach.

MRI's are no fun. I will live with my foot the way it is for now. The pain is usually more of a burning sensation, and the swelling is minimal now that the weather is cooler. I understand you not wanting surgery. I am looking at possible eye surgery that I am dreading.
I hope it doesn't come to surgery but every time I've have to get a knee done I'm beyond happy I had it. Week before surgery almost stuck in bed, week after almost back to normal:), not that I'm normal by any stretch of the imagination.:D

I had a stress fracture in my back. I could not lay flat for a year and a half. How? Standing up from sitting on the couch.

If the wrap doesn't work...from all the times my broke her foot go for the boot. While not ideal you can take it off to bathe, lay in sun but it is there for support when it doesn't really make a difference. The one thing we learned was to purchase a shoe the same height as the elevation of the boot so you are not hobbling. Lessons learned the hard way.
That's a great tip. When I was in a boot I had to wear a small heel on the other foot just to keep my balance.

The weather officially tied the record of 81 yesterday. Unofficially, some towns were warmer.

Also, 95 through Providence will probably be a mess in a few years. They have to make a new section of the highway because the current section is crumbling.

They tried splitting the highway yesterday without telling anyone. Nobody had a clue what to do so traffic was backed up all the way to Mass (not that Mass is very far) by 6am.

Yikes to all of that! Thanks for the heads up on RI 95, too. That's a major route through to the southern states, and it sounds like it's going to be a gridlock traffic nightmare for quite some time. I'll spread the word up here.
