My sister and her daughter will be down there too so the day before Thanksgiving we are meeting them at Liberty Tree for lunch, we are planning to get the Pilgrims feast.

Then for Thanksgiving day my dad might come down for lunch. We have reservations at Whispering Canyon ( we did thanksgiving there before ) and Olivia's. We haven't decided which to go to yet. My dad has no interest in the theme parks anymore but doesn't mind eating at a resort. Any thoughts on either of our choices?

If you are going to a resort I think WC is the best for a feast. Like you we've done Liberty Tree, we've done Garden Grill too but doesn't fit that resort requirement. My son has Thanksgiving at Both Flying Fish and at Raglan Road, loved Raglan and Flying but Flying is going through some growing pains right now. At this point you are likely stuck with the two you have ressies for since it is a holiday at the more popular venues.

Me too. I open the can, and the cranberry sauce goes on a little serving plate. Fancy.

I said yesterday I cook the day after ThanksGiving. Let me tell you it is a mighty casual. Everything I cook the day after ThanksGiving goes into Rubbermaid containers as serving dishes, even the jello is prepared in one.

It is the day we hit a couple stores, we start to decorate for Christmas. When dinner is ready we feast like little Piglets and I snap the tops on toss in fridge and we continue onward.

Stuffing is easy to make, just onions, butter, celery, bread, sage, and salt & pepper for my recipe. Homemade is the best, but sometimes a quick serving of Stove Top hits the spot. .

I really dislike sage. Always disappointed when I discover stuffing has had sage added to it, the same way I am when potato salad is made with Miracle Whip vs Hellmann's Mayo.

I make my Gran's Stuffing which is cheap white bread (like Wonder) onion, celery, raw egg and squish it together. The egg makes it stay moist and rise a big. We all love it.

This goes back to my childhood. One year, my mother made 'whole" cranberry sauce and everyone hated it. After that, she went back to the can of jellied cranberry sauce. I've been eating that kind ever since. I also like the challenge of getting it out of can in one piece--takes practice! :p

Actually, a few times (as an adult) I did make cranberry sauce at home--came out pretty good, actually. But there's just something about the canned, jelly kind that I love. :hungry:

One of the things I make with leftovers from Thanksgiving Friday is my best attempt at Earl's Thanksgiving sandwich, which the first time I ever had was from Starbucks years ago before Earl at DTD.

I make it the same way except for the meat, I use real turkey I slice very thinly. It is awesome.

OK I want a Thanksgiving Sandwich now.

80 east exit with lots of trees go all the way to the big grey rock not the big brown rock. you may just make it if you leave now LOL BTW my house doesn't show up on GPS so trees and rocks are how you find it. Just a simple mashed potato and sauted filling

Can you make a few with white ricotta curd whipped cheese please. And some sour cream on the side. I can make the filling. Pastry I'm not so good at.

Nice directions, kind of like the ones I would give someone when they were trying to find the house I grew up in. And the filling sounds great. I loved the pierogies in Poland at the Food and Wine booth. They were served with caramelized onions and kielbasa. I think they were the Mrs. T's brand, but it was still good. I'm sure the homemade ones would be even better. :) A friend of mine her mother-in-law makes pierogies with lots of different fillings and most sound good except for the one she fills with potato and raisin. :hungover:

All the Polish areas around Northern IL sell Pierogies as Lent approaches. They are amazing yet they all seem to have their own twist. Churches and Polish deli's actually have preorders for them. If you want them you are wise to preorder.

And me, I am a landmark driver and direction giver. The main road closest to our home-everything kinda looks similar except we have a school crosswalk and a pennant shaped crosswalk sign where you need to exit off the main road. Yep that is included in my directions to our home, followed by the 'house with the white picket fence.'

Good things and bad things..

The good.. Matthew degraded to Class 1 storm And seems to be quickly dissipating.
Not many deads and most of them were caused by second and third party stuff (tree falls, hearattacks..etc..)

The bad torrential and deadly floods in the carolinas, and the expectation of Matthew returning to hot waters later on by absorbing the remnants of Nicole.

Blah, I was hearing so much more news about Matthew during the Florida segment, it seems to have faded in our newscasts. So glad it wasn't as bad as anticipated in many areas but sadly it seems it will do awful flooding damage. I hope it doesn't refire.

My son did get to NOLA without issue of storm, now sitting on the plane and not being able to get an engine to start announcement for delay, followed by 15 minute later take off was a bit disconcerting to many.

He seems to have had the same issue I had when my trip to miami started. not fun.
At least the engine FAILED on land than on air.

I took the entire day today and did nothing but watch Youtube, movies and TV shows. Started out watching Muppets videos on Youtube, watched Lion King (I don't care how many times I see it; the stampede scene always makes me cry), then Mary Poppins, then caught up on the last few Hawaii Five-0 episodes from the end of last season, which I somehow missed, then Last Man Standing on Netflix, then ended with GIlmore Girls. No homework in sight

I love fall break.

Hmmm...Was there a story line to this or just random water stunts?
There is a story line but very "artistic" a la circle du soleil. Kinda hard to make it.
But yeah, theres a lot of segments with themes and stunts.
Like the "strongmen" segment enjoying the sun.

But the theme seems a fight between the "water" or "rain god" (first photo) fighting the fire/earth one.
The image on the screens starts with a single tree, in a desert. in the end the land is completely filled with water, then dries up and life grows.

The one and only time I ever had potato and raisin together and liked it was in a very spicy curry. Raisins were needed to take the edge off
