Not all of them but we do check every so often to keep him on his toes. It was one of the rules set up when he got the phone.

Excellent rule to have! More parents should do this, as well as monitor emails and social media. Too much cyberbullying occurs and kids post stuff they shouldn't. The kids just don't realize that this stuff is out there forever. I'm just glad I didn't have all this stuff growing up, I would have been the kid/college girl posting things I shouldn't!

Just curious -- how do you know if the kid deletes messages? I mean, if they're deleted, they're gone. o_O (Unless you had some super duper computer program that could find them after being erased, I don't know how you'd know.) It's hard for parents now with all this tech stuff. I figure my parents had it hard enough without us having cell phones, etc.
It's tricky, but a lot of phones have parental control features. There's also apps that track your texts, which would make it obvious if there's been a lot of texts deleted.

Although I do not like iPhones and wouldn't want one for myself, they have a lot of nifty parental control featues not present on Andoird phones, so for a teen, it's a good phone.

No, they just moved all projectiles. We have friends in Jacksonville who boarded their windows, though.

My cousin is a nurse who works at a nursing home, and evidently, she and her patients had to evacuate up to Columbia (northern SC).

I used to work with a woman who grew up in Florida. She told me that when the big storms were coming in, they'd put all their outdoor, metal furniture in the (fully water filled) swimming pool -- it was safe there! :jawdrop:

I was reading a blog on Top 7 Worst Dishes at Epcot's Food and Wine. Complete with photos. It is really funny.

Comments like you probably should just not serve chicken and dumplings if Cracker Barrel serves much better. Comparisons to dog/cat food. Or a two-for for horrid Italian Food. There was another part the best of F&W. I liked it cause it kinda steered you to the best of the best and what to run far away from.

I read that article as well, actually everything they listed was stuff we dismissed. It either didn't sound good to us or as in the case of Italy, it sounded like something we could make at home. We did end up having something in every country and almost every food kiosk. But in the case of Italy we went into the Tutto Gusto Wine Celler and had a meat tray and beverages and relaxed (one of our best decisions) and in Norway since there is no F &W stand and the bakery line was too long we bought a candy bar.

Mathew is turning into a giant pain in the tushie. First it was we were going to get hit then nothing, then rain and now 80mph winds along the coast and tropical storm conditions where I am. Guess I'm going to have to get ready just in case:mad: Care to comment @Mr Ferret 88

Stay safe. I have been texting my dad today (he lives about 1 -1 1/2 hours north of Orlando) asking him about his emergency plan. He says he has a "few" things and some bottled water. He's never been in a hurricane before, I don't think he knows what to expect. Even with the last big tropical storm that hit Florida it didn't impact him, but this has more of a possibility of getting by him. So, I told him to prep like a blizzard (not the Dairy Queen kind) is coming so that may help him a little.

You haven't been her long enough to know I bleed Cubbie Blue and have the same loyalty to the Blackhawks and the Bears. I grew up a mega sports fan, my Dad had two DD's so I was tagged the girl that was going to have sports in her life. My Sis was a Princess.

I have little use for Basketball though and even less for Soccer.

We've been here before. I remember that tree. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Are you superstitious about the Cubs at all? My husband is and I think he is going to freak out a little when he sees the Sports Illustrated cover featuring the Cubs. When they had the Bears on the cover during the playoffs or going into the Super Bowl, the Bears lost and he was convinced that SI had jinxed the Bears.

We are leaving Oct. 14, for 6 nights. I'm looking forward to the food. What did you really like?

Since you asked here is what we had booth by booth (take of it what you will) I will indicate if we liked it or not.... And we really only had food, I had a couple beer samplers but I know you don't like beer... (Also we ate all this over 3 days and really only ate at Epcot for most of our meals, but yes we were pigs.

Craft Beers: Piggy Wings (with South Korean BBQ sauce) EXCELLENT!!!!!! A top pick
The Chew Collective: Peanut Butter with White Chocolate Mousse, it was good but the serving was super tiny really only a spoonful for both of us.
Greenhouse Guru: Duck confit with creamy polenta & salsa Yummy.
Chocolate Studio: Nitro Chocolate Mousse was Yummy also the Red Wine Truffle very good and could taste the wine
Islands of the Caribbean: Mojo pork with Cilantro rice and beans Yummy close to a top pick
Greece: Greek Yogurt Vanilla cake soaked in Ouzo....This was okay but tasted like black licorice ( I don't care for that much)
Patagonia: Beef skewer with chimmichurri EXCELLENT AND MY FAVORITE!!!! (ate it twice this year and last year)
Hawaii: Kalua pork slider....Very good a top pick
Farm Fresh: loaded mac and cheese.... Very good a top pick (last year it was just okay)
New Zealand: lamb meatball (Hubby had this as I don't eat lamb and he liked it a lot)
Australia: Lamb chop (Hubby's absolute favorite) and I had the Lamington (cake with chocolate & coconut) it was good but I could make that at home easy peasey
Mexico: flan (okay) and Barbacoa enchilada which was yum yum yummy!
China: Duck in the steamed bun (good) and the Sichuan Chicken EXCELLENT another top pick
South Korea: BBQ beef (it was just okay but seemed a little bland)
Africa: both the Berbere beef and the Butter chicken are EXCELLENT and top picks
Poland: this was a top pick last year and again this year with the kielbasa and pierogies
Italy we skipped as it's booths have always disappointed, but we did relax and have tasty food at the Tutto Gusto Wine Celler
Hops and Barley: smoked beef brisket EXCELLENT!!!
Japan: Spicy Sushi Roll (Hubby had this and loved it.)
Morocco: Hummus fries EXCELLENT it was a surprise hit out of nowhere. We don't really eat hummus, well that is going to change!
Belgium: braised beef....this was okay but I can make just as good at home
Brazil: meat pie (it was bland, bring salt and pepper), cheese bread YUMMY! Last year we got the pork belly and like that, didn't get it this year
France: we loved both the beef bourguignon and the creme brulee
Ireland: warm chocolate puddling with Irish cream liqueur custard....Do I even need to say it was yummy! It was.
Scotland: Potato pancake with smoked salmon...the potato pancake was great but I hate fish so I didn't try that part of it
Canada: both the beef filet and the cheese soup were EXCELLENT!

Hope my list didn't bore you too much. And now I'm really hungry.....;):hungry:

I said something similar to my husband (although we don't have a long weekend), and I want to be in Disney all the time. Then I dealt with my 7th graders and I thought, "Hmmm, maybe being in Disney in a hurricane wouldn't be so bad."

We are at Disney a couple years ago when a Category 5 came up the coast and went by Massachusetts (of course it was a tropical storm by then). I, unfortunately, had to stay a day or two later.

The future storm track has it making a u-turn.

Yikes! I saw the U turn on the news this evening. Sure hope not. We get those that are similar that swirl around the lake counterclockwise. We just had a week of that from the same storm, over and over again. Worse when it is snow.

We get some strong winds up here that do lots of damage. One day my kids went into the waterpark where they found the lawnchairs and concession stand furniture in the pools and lazy river.

Another high wind storm without rain lifted a fun umbrella right out of its base and dumped it into the pool. Those umbrellas are anchored in and heavy.
