Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I got a bag of those, they do smell great. Hubby was allergic, tossed them in the trash. We had the best smelling garbage on the block, for that week!

My DD and I have some nasty reactions to heavy scents. We too bought the pine cones one year. They were just way too overwhelming for a smaller space over an allergy as we are fine with cinnamon. In a large store the scent is so pleasant. In a home not so much. But they are intended to go into a fireplace one or two at a time. Very different that a whole honk'n pile in a room.

Regarding the hurricane, we have a bunch of our medical personnel (from work) down in Florida now for a convention. They're supposed to stay until Friday or Saturday, but now they might try to come back sooner. Dang. It was nice and quiet with them gone. Talk about bad timing for this stupid hurricane!! :banghead:

My son for his job is set for a conference too starting this weekend. Hope the various weather cooperates for him.

TRIP REPORT:
DAY 5...
Sea Day 2.. probably one of the longest (but with very few pictures)

We were really lazy today and we woke up pretty late, almost at 11:00 am.
We decided to take breakfast in the same as always ( in Park Cafe in central park, deck 8)
Again, the lovely chinese lady was serving us and cleaning our table.

My mother then decided she wanted to check the Vitality deck (aka the Spa area to check some stuff about acupuncture.
We were 15 minutes early so my mother decided to check the place. The area is pretty big!!! id say the vitality area is almost as big as the opal theatre but separated in decks. It included presentation areas, medical areas, a small "juice bar" with natural nutritive food. The spa areas with showers, special treatments, conference room, etc..
There was also a presentation about creams against aging, which was filled with middle age and old women.
Then we asked for help to know where the acupuncture stuff was going to be. The people in the front desk weren't sure at first.. but then they told us to go down the stairs (beautiful area with fake gardens, rocks and fountains) into a rounded waiting room.
We were the only ones there.. and same happened for almost 30 minutes. (seems every event in the Oasis is at least 20 minutes late. We are not used to that, we're always on time) and nothing and nothing happened.
We were getting bored.. and dizzy. The vitality is in the front of the ship I think.. and thus had the most obvious shaking side to side.
My mother also complained about this so we decided to leave.

We decided to split, she would return to get some pills for the dizzyness while I headed to the front view deck.. right above the bridge deck.

It was pretty windy but gorgeous weather with almost zero clouds.
Infact, the wind could push you backwards if you weren't checking carefully.
There were also these "telescope" like devices, that let you watch from very far away on both sides of the ship. These have like 3000X zoom.. pretty cool!.

The Observation deck and the Helicopter pad from the right side of the observation deck. Oasis of the Seas

After that, it was time to check the royal promenade. As I wanted to take photos of the only other character I was interested from (dreamworks wise). Puss in Boots! ( Since they do not have cool suits to "meet" with Toothless)

I love that globe thing!

and again we meet those nice folks from Puerto Rico.

Now funny stuff, I was angry, somehow my camera did NOT record the dancing video. but thankfully my friend from PR (the wife) did with her tablet. So was safe lol.. sort of :p

Also, in her video you will find the fine example of people who have the awareness of a jelly sponge.

After that, we decided to go to the aqua-theater area, because it was time for the "belly flop" contest.
The whole thing was hilarious. Also the trophy and prices thing was the best part (check the videos on youtube lol... I dont want to spoil you guys). Best part was the presentator making "voices" of the contestants in super slowmo. As they fell to the water.

Big bonus points for the winner who perfectly did the "landwhale" belly flop. ( If you seen the movie Hotel Transylvania by Sony pictures, imagine him doing the Frankenstein dive).

Once the madness finished. I finally had a hotdog. Decided for a simple german sausage and onions with a bit of mayonnaise and mustard. no ketchup!
Was very good!

Then it was time to check for the "show" of the penguins of madagascar.. which sadly we missed (we arrived to the promenade right after it ended.
Plus they had bowties!!

Bonus when they actually did a very decent "slapping" sequence! XD

After the penguins (which made me see our Puerto Rican friends again), It was time for the Earl Turner 80's show in the Opal Theater.
The theater was full to the seams. My mother loved that show but I felt a bit disconnected.

Couldn't find her in the crowd and to make it worse.. all the seats were taken. So I stayed a few songs and then went my way towards the SCHOONER's BAR.

Which supposedly had a show of the Director of CATS (doing his favorite Broadway songs).
SO I waited there, and waited and waited.. noone arrived.. I asked the bar guys and they had absolutely NO IDEA.(another bonus points to Disney staff.. yikes.. seems noone knew anything apart from their positions in the Oasis!). So I got a soda and waited.. then a 3 tripe and half officer did exit from the employee door of the schooner bar.. caught him and he explained everything in spanish and confirmed there was a show there.. I just needed to wait.

So I did, then a group of people arrived to get drinks.. woah.. they were all CATS cast members!
and then the director of the show arrived and set up the piano. managed to get a nice space to sit down and watched.
Something that was not expected happened. One of the singers of CATS had a VERY VAST experience in Broadway songs.. he randomly got up and asked the director to put random songs, including from Andrew LLoyd Webber. for example StarLight Express.
Also they took some requests from the normal public.

I stayed for 10 songs. Then went my way towards DAZZLES bar. Where the other group of singers were doing another show.

Heres a video I took from BOTH shows.

Definitively pleased!

After that, It was VERY LATE.
We had to go to sleep, because next day was St. Maarten DAY! (expect crapload of photos for this)

Now the rare part. I have no idea if we skipped dinner. I'm pretty sure we got dinner on the main dinning room. Because we were switched of seatings.
But unsure if we did eat dinner very late night (after Dazzles) or very early before the Penguins...

Ha! I have the same pipe dream. Still, we have that dang goat to contend with.

There's all kinds of theories. All levels of Cubs' loyalty. All kinds of Cubs fans. I'd love to see them win, for my husband and my older son, who have rooted for the Cubs in like "forever".

Funny thing is this. Is it a bigger story if they finally win the series, or if they "choke" again?

Hi, everybody! Just popping in to say hello. Hope you are all well. Life here is still not any slower. DD keeps me busy with all of her activities. DS seems to be adjusting to college life. Although, they keep him pretty busy from 8AM until 10 or so at night. Getting out money's worth there!
Glad to hear all is well. I hope you get to enjoy a nice quiet long weekend.
