After finishing the mini everglades tour, We went to the cocodrile show. Where an expert explained more about alligators and the biggest danger to the ecosystem in the everglades.. including this individual.
dNu78eF.jpg

That was introduced by some exotic pet owner who threw the animal because it was getting so big. This guy eats eggs.. A LOT OF THEM.. OVER AND OVER, leaving nests decimated. And since has no predators.. they are decimating the alligator and many other species.

Also explained the importance and huge variety of snakes on the Everglades and surrounding areas.
And of course, safety on how to handle meeting a "danger noodle" in the wild.

Have a video!

After that, the classic photo with an Alligator. Not a fan of having these little guys being tossed and touched and with tape x_X

After that. We went to the store and I again bought some magnets.. and new glasses, because my old ones shattered when I was getting down from the Bus x_X.

Once we finished refreshing. We returned to the Bus to return to the Port of Miami to change buses.
The Bus graciously dropped us very close Miami Beach (2 blocks away). So we walked to check the famous South Beach zone.

Have a monstrous Panorama.

Once we cheked, viewed..etc.. we decided to bail towards the main street again (the sun was insane!, I was red as lobster and our skin was burning).
Plus we were hungry, so we decided to check some restaurants.

TIP for those who havent been to this area.. CHECK ALL RESTAURANT PRICES FIRST. We were dumb to sit down on the first restaurant on the line. And it had almost 20% price hike compared to the others a few blocks more to the north.
And they had very similar dishes.

Regardless of that.. the food was very nice and It was a lot. So I ended eating the same as dinner at the hotel.

This area is very pleasant. Lots of people partying.
We also got in the middle of a very interesting conversation between a very excited old man who was extremely thin.
And a muscular black man. Both of which seemed to have worked for the same company in the same city (Chicago).
It was weird to see the old man happily screaming "WHAAAAT?" YOU TOO????, I WORKED THERE TOO!". Because everyone was looking.
The wife and her daughters were unfazed and the Afroamerican man was also happy to share...
And thats it!.. After eating, we went to walk towards the north to see if we could get inside a famous old house. Unfortunately It was transformed into a luxury hotel/restaurant. And it had huge bouncers who were clear that it was for guests only. What a shame! As the building had decor very similar to Vizcaya House.

Anyway, We were drained and we decided to call an uber to get back to the hotel.
A very sympathetic man from Cuba was our driver. But there was some weird stories that were hard to believe lol.
Like he said he worked his butt off for years, and then now works as one of the top high ranking immigration officers for the government of Miami.
If thats true. He drives Uber because he gets bored and he worked so long he simply doesn't like to stay doing nothing.
I dont know, but he had a luxury style Lexus Suv. So his story was kinda convincing.

So after returning to the hotel. We put a lot of cream in our burned skin (lol) and we went to take a long nap.

After that we walked to check out the beach.
the zone is VERY pleasant. including a walking/running wooded street for pedestrians that is covered by tall trees giving shade. And the sea is right next to it.

I just found the chorus schedule for James in his room. Concerts are mandatory and at night. It might have been nice if he had given it to me when he got it. Now I can call his grandparents so they can work out who goes to which concerts. We can get only six tickets per family and we have to pay for them:banghead:

Yeah, we went through this with the musicals. They were always free and even did a senior performance during the daytime hours. Space was not a problem or cost until high school when the students had lets say a little better skill level. That all changed as funding overall dipped. They now too charge but space isn't a problem on this level like it is on the high school level. Can you possibly get tickets (buy) from friends that are not going to use all of theirs? We found with things like graduation etc not everyone has extended family and they were will to turn over the extras to us.

We get the most interesting recruiting emails. One person sends an email saying they're a convicted felon.
shocked+face.jpg

Well, at least they're honest.

That is hard. In your heart you want people to start over, be honest and hard working. But taking that chance....I'd certainly want to know what the heck they did. Yikes.

I was just reading about a young man that was wrongly convicted as an adult though still a child. Released after 6 years and slate wiped clean. Still there you are tossed out into a world without an education, money etc. and now what? What do you put on your application?Statesville?

It's a big 3 dollars a ticket and kids who our on free or reduced lunch get theirs for free. We have an excellent music department we like to keep off the chopping block. They run a couple of fundraisers a year so as long as some outside money keeps going to art and music they leave things as is when state funding gets cut off. We've been very lucky the only thing our district has lost is horse therapy for life skills classes, autism support still has it and if you fall into the spectrum and are in LS you still get to go.

Wow. I am very much aware of the the horse therapy for those on the spectrum. Never have I ever seen it tied to a school system (don't tell ours) Our Park District through the special needs division co-op does the horse therapy. My understanding it was considered more of a recreational therapy over a educational therapy. Interesting.

I was thinking about this as well..
Reminds me of all these people who "hate living today, and would love to go back to the XXX date".
Then get very angry when you show them that the time they wanted.. wasn't as happy and fun as they made it sound (specially for minorities).

You mean to say that 50's Prime Time isn't an accurate representation of life at that time?!? haha just joking of course...although I wouldn't mind if we called our living room "dad's den" lol

Also, one of my interns quit. She apparently didn't realize the internship is unpaid and didn't want that. Kind of understand that, but at the same time, she has precisely zero work experience, and the paid internships are really hard to come by when you've got no work history whatsoever. I got this job because I did an unpaid internship and got experience; it leads to other stuff. Oh well.

I was happy when the laws changed for unpaid interships. Our area cracks down on the criteria for the free labor interships. This became more prevalent when the economy was bad companies were hiring free labor for jobs that really needed to be preformed vs real educational training. Mucked up the whole intership definition.

When caught they are not allowed to have any interns then for a specified amount of time and are monitored by labor board, both the person and the company so if they move onto another company they are required to inform the labor board where they work next. I like that it follows not only the company but the person(s) that break those labor laws. My DS worked for a high profile professional placement firm for contract hires. He did a lot of the grunt work for doing backgrounds on the accountants, engineers etc that they'd place on contracts to firms. He had zero experience with that walking in the door but dang they paid him and it was much better than minimum wage. Even Disney pays their interns.

A lot of people don't realize that they need to work (sometimes unpaid) and expect everything they want just handed to them.

Wow, you have to pay to go to concerts?! I've never heard of that for music concerts. Our choir and band concerts are free for all ages and anyone can come (although our district is probably smaller than yours). Our school has a ticket cost for plays and sporting events. If you had a fancy phone, you could facetime it or skype it for the people that can't go.

Hi guys! I was off yesterday. The meds. the Doctor gave me is causing a lot of sinus drainage. I kept throwing up. I know it's getting the stuff out, but what a cure. I've only up chucked once this morning. But it was a doozy. I hope no one gets this thing. Will be back, when I'm doing better. Miss you, all.

Well, if the stuff is coming out soon it will be gone! Hope you feel better soon! :)
