Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
So sad that it is funny. I just listened to the (previously recorded) recap of the Injury Report by the Chicago Bears...went on forever on our local news. The station dubbed in as background music the theme song to M*A*S*H*

We are getting some crazy thunderstorms here tonight, we even had hail. My dog is freaking out but all I keep thinking is "I hope the electric and satellite don't go out." It is the Survivor season opener and the finale of Big Brother. Also, on Blackish tonight they are at WDW, I don't normally watch that one, but since it is at WDW I got it set to record.

Yikes! I remember once in college when they were doing construction and hit a power line and the power was out for like 15 hours, but we at least still had water. If it's not back up in the morning, can you go stay with a friend or something until they get it fixed? If it was a school break, I'd say you have a great excuse to go to Disney!
Actually, as it turns out, I'm going to Hershey Park on Saturday. One of my friends texted me last night and said she had an extra ticket. So we're going Saturday. Should be fun.

I don't think I've had a hot dog at Dairy Queen. Almost always a burger, sometimes a steak finger basket. We have a lot of Dairy Queen's around here. I'll hafta' try one sometime.
I really like the extra long chili cheese Coney with mustard and onions at Sonic! I had one this weekend...! :hungry:
Our local DQ is really small and doesn't have a full menu. It has two tables inside, two picnic tables outside, and a walk up window that the little league/peewee teams use. To get braziers we have to drive almost ten miles to the next DQ.

Our DQ hot dogs are .79. Two dogs and a cone are often a summer dinner for us.
I've tried the DQ dogs. They are alright, but, I really think that BK's are a little better. As a kid I got spoiled concerning hot dogs. Up in upper, upper NY State, the big quick food thing was Michigan Red Hots. They were not really spicy like the name suggests, but, they were great. A seasoned hamburg sauce, a steamed bun slit on the side so it was like a boat. The boiled hot dog with chopped onions (optional) covered over with that sauce and a single stripe of yellow mustard on top and it was heaven. Of all the foods that I miss the most from my childhood that is the main one. I have experimented with many recipes for the sauce over the years and have yet to really duplicate it, but, if I ever do, I am going to open up a stand and sell them. What passes for them down here are chili dogs... not the same thing believe me. To begin with if the bun isn't steamed... I'll pass!

As a kid, I remember car hop service. You could get the hot dogs or a hamburger, if you were a person that didn't know any better, fries and soda or, in my case, Chocolate Milk. I remember the night I was going into the hospital to get my tonsils out, I was 5 years old (just a mere 63 years ago) and my mom and dad wanted to know what I wanted for dinner. I said I wanted a Nitzi's (name of the place not the item) Amazing, how I can still taste it and even smell it right now as I type. The best part about this way is that there are no calories. I'm spending way to much time lately thinking about the past when hopefully I still have a bunch of future to go. So I guess I better just move on.

Fortunately, we have a full-sized DQ just 5 mins. away in our neighborhood. :)
Sometimes it seems like we have darn near everything 5 mins. away...! :hilarious:
We also have a good Tex-Mex place and a Subway within walking distance.
They're also building a full-sized P. Terry's (local burger joint) in our neighborhood...! :hungry:
I forgot to mention, P. Terry's donated $25,000 to the DDs pediatric cancer nonprofit on the night of the gala last Saturday. It's by far the largest single donation they have ever received. The owner of the company is very well-known for his philanthropy...! :)
